Pink Rose |
Yes, it is one of the pink roses I showed in the collage, yesterday.
Today was a cooler day and would have been a good day to work in the garage, but, I took the day off from doing garage stuff.
Daughter had come home late from the party, last night, and we had stayed up till the "wee hours" of the morning, discussing the party. She brought me a plate of food and some desserts and I ate some of that while we chatted. It was 4:30 a.m. when we went to bed.
I woke up at 6:30 a.m., needing to go to the bathroom and then, couldn't fall asleep, again! So, I got up, got dressed, had a cup of tea, and said my morning prayers. Then, around 8:00 a.m., I fell asleep, again, on the sofa and slept till about 11:00 a.m.
In the afternoon, I chatted with neighbor T for a bit (our weekly phone call). Later, I helped my daughter cook the food to take to friend A. I cooked the kale dish, boiled the eggs, and cooked the rice. Daughter cooked the dhal and made the milk gravy for the hard boiled eggs. Then, we dished up the food and took it over to friend A. She was resting so we handed the bags of food over to her younger daughter and spoke with her for a bit and came back home, stopping to get two ice cream cones on the way home! Plain vanilla soft serve ice cream, this time, from a fast food drive-through! We might have got a hamburger, chicken nuggets, and fries, too, but I am not admitting to anything other than the cones! LOL! Friend A called me later in the evening to thank us for bringing the food.
Daughter took a nap on the sofa after we came home and I watched most of the Oscars while I cut up some of the old bank statements I am decluttering.
At 7:00 p.m., I called the jury service reporting center to find out if I am required to report for jury service tomorrow and I was told I didn't need to! I was happy to hear that! I have to call in, again, tomorrow evening, after 7:00 p.m., to find out if I need to go in on Tuesday.
I asked A if she'd like me to come and stay with her while her daughters are working, but, she said her husband has the day off tomorrow. Also, apparently, her brothers are flying in tonight, so she'll have their company, too. I will stay home and tend to a few things around the house, instead.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Naps on the sofa
- Being able to prepare some food and take to friend A
- A safe drive there and back
- Not having to go in for jury duty tomorrow
- Working appliances
Today's joyful activity was enjoying ice cream cones with my daughter.
The forecast is for rain, tomorrow morning! I am hoping there will be enough rain to soak the garden, Plans for tomorrow include some house work and paper work.
How was your Sunday? What are your plans for tomorrow?
Sounds like that was a good party and lots to chat about. So nice of your daughter to bring food home for you both to share. That's a relief about not having to report for jury service, fingers crossed each day is the same. Our lovely weather is about to change with rain forecast for this week but never mind, as you say our gardens need it.
ReplyDeleteI think she enjoyed herself. There were about 20 people, she said, including her friend who got married last weekend and one of the other bridesmaids. She was the only person wearing a mask, but, they were all out doors and the majority of the guests, if not all, were vaccinated. There was a taco truck to cater the meal, but, some guests had also brought other dishes to share (even though it was not a potluck) and there were lots of leftover food at the end.
DeleteThank you; it is certainly a relief that I didn't have to report for jury duty, today.
Enjoy those sunny days for as long as they last. I woke up to rain this morning and the garden is getting a good watering! :)
Beautiful roses & of course IMO, pink is always the perfect colour for roses or any other flower :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your friend's Mother's death. During such difficult time, it is good to have friends & family that can share in your grief. Weather has been rather snowy the last few days, so no out & about for the weekend & it looks like Monday will be a repeat. Hopefully you'll get that rain.
I thought you'd like the pink roses! :)
DeleteThank you, Mary-Lou; yes, having friends and family around you at times like this is helpful, I think.
It's been raining all morning! We've really needed this rain. I hope the snow melts, soon, and you can enjoy spring!
That sounds like a good day, even though it must have been sad to see A, you were able to be supportive. Also, never admit to anything if they can't produce the evidence. Icecreams are awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt was a very good day, Lyssa. I'm glad I was able to provide some support to my friend and her daughters. The ice cream cones were definitely needed! :D
DeleteI forgot to say in yesterday's comment how pretty the pink roses were, so thanks for the close-up shot reminder.
ReplyDeleteSending food to the bereaved is such a lovely act of kindness, and a needed break when their minds are so otherwise engaged.
You both deserved the easy meal on your way home. But I myself would have admitted to the other stuff and "forgotten" to mention the ice cream. A guilty little pleasure is such fun!
The roses deserved a second appearance, I thought! :D
DeleteSending food to the bereaved is a custom we all share, worldwide, I believe. Besides, friend A is on a rather restrictive diet for medical reasons; the food we made was prepared consistent with her dietary guidelines.
Ha, ha, we thought it was rather ironic that we'd cook very healthy food for our friend and then, indulge in fast food, ourselves! :D
I read this post in the morning and commented in the evening. For my part, I forgot to say that I was tickled by the notion that you were just going to bed about half an hour after Susanne had probably got up! I must admit I'm more likely to go to bed closer to 4.30 am, than I am to rise anywhere near that time - but 4.00/4.30 is both too early and too late for me...
DeleteYes, I know I tend to go to bed when others are starting to wake up! Susanne, being in Indiana, with both Eastern and Central time zones, is either 3 hours (if she's in the Eastern time zone) or 2 hours (if she's in the Central time zone) ahead of me, here in California (Pacific time zone). So, she would have been up for a good 2 or 3 hours by the time I go to bed! I went to bed at 2:30 a.m., last night, so she would have been waking up, around that time! :D
Delete😄😀😄😀
DeleteI"m glad you were able to nap after getting up so early. It makes such a difference in your day to be rested.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had some tasty food to go along with your ice cream cones ;)
I'd love to know how your daughter makes her "special requested" Dahl.
Thank you, Debra. The nap was needed and the fast food on the way home was much appreciated! :D
DeleteA is on a rather restrictive diet - non-dairy, no fat, non-spicy, etc. So, daughter made the dhal by boiling the lentils in a little water with a little turmeric and salt, and added non-fat oak milk instead of either coconut milk or dairy milk, and omitted the curry leaves, the onions, the green chilies, the curry powder, etc., that we would normally add. At the very end of the cooking, she added a little lemon juice, which we would normally add to dhal. It made a very bland dhal, but, it was something that A could eat.
Beautiful rose! (I see you have mastered close-ups now.) Sad time for A. Glad you can be there for her in whatever way she needs. Also great that one day of jury service is behind you without need to appear. Long may it last!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm learning!
DeleteYes, it is a very sad time for A. I'm glad I can be there to support her.
I don't have to go in for jury duty tomorrow, either! Yay! :D
I like the idea of a middle of the night feast and "debriefing" your daughter. It sounds like it was fun. So glad you didn't have to go to Jury service. I hope you don't get to go at all.
ReplyDeleteWe bottled 11.8 litres of syrup this afternoon with help from two friends who are excellent at filling, capping, and cleanup afterwards. All DH had to do was put the already pressure-filtered hot syrup into the filter container for them to draw off, and I got the bottles ready and hot and sterilized and wiped them down once filled.
Thank you, Bushlady. I enjoyed hearing all about the party. A lot of the guests were in school with my daughter and her friend; there were a few others who had been in grad school with her friend, who flew in from the east coast for the party!
DeleteI don't have to go for jury duty tomorrow either!
Wow, you were busy with all that syrup making! You had quite a production line going! Can I persuade you all to come down and help me with some lemon marmalade making? :D
Sorry to hear of your friend's mother's death. So sad for her and her family. It was very considerate of your daughter to cook some food for friend A. and to think of you and bring you some food from the party. I hope you get that rain. We have four days of rain in our forecast.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise. Yes, it's very sad and such a good reminder to live each day to the fullest because we really don't know what tomorrow might hold! It warms my heart to see how considerate and kind my daughter is. It rained on and off all day, today! I was so happy to get the rain! Four days of rain is a lot! Hope it doesn't cause any damage!

ReplyDeleteThank you for signing it, later! I appreciate it. :)
DeleteThe pink rose is beautiful and it's a great photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you weren't called for jury service. Is it just one week you have to be available if called?
Thank you, Eileen; I'm learning from seeing your photos. :)
DeleteYes, I have to be available this week. If I am not called in by Friday, then, I am done with jury duty. If I do get called in tomorrow or Thursday and am not selected to be a juror on a case by the end of the day, then, I am done with jury duty, even if it is not yet Friday. If, however, I am called in and am selected to be a juror, then, that day becomes my 1st day of jury service, and I need to serve however long the case might last.
