Boosted!

I received my Covid vaccine booster dose, yesterday, evening.  My appointment was scheduled for 5:30 p.m., so my daughter could accompany me after she finished working for the day.  In fact, she drove me there and back.  There were no problems, only a short wait until it was my turn (there was one other person ahead of me) and a 10 minute wait until the straight-from-the-fridge vial of vaccine warmed up, and then, the 15 minutes of waiting after the injection.  During the waiting time, I had daughter purchase an adaptor for a power outlet (to allow up to six items to be plugged into a dual power outlet) and a bar of chocolate!  Honestly, I seem to get this urge to shop every time I go for vaccinations at the drug store pharmacy!

I took everyone's advice to be fully hydrated and drank water throughout the day, yesterday.  I drank at least 8 cups of water before going for the vaccination and drank another 4 cups of water afterwards, during the rest of the evening.  I am sure it helped, because I haven't felt any adverse side effects, so far!

Yesterday morning, I picked up the groceries and put them away,, brought the trash cans in, mopped the kitchen, did the dishes, cleaned the litter box, etc., before I went to get the booster dose.  After I came home, I relaxed.   I did a little embroidery, read blogs, watched videos online, and took it easy.

I didn't plan anything for today, either, because I didn't know how I would feel.  The only thing on the agenda was M's regular Wednesday morning visit.  He brought me another plant cutting - a type of philodendron.  He thought it was "Silver Sword" - it's from one of his plants that he had to repot because the pot fell over and a piece of the plant broke off.  I put it in a vase of water to root and added it to the growing collection of plants on the sideboard!

Trio of Plants on the Sideboard

M watered the garden, pruned the lemon trees and some of the curry leaf plants that are springing up all over the garden, and filled the green yard waste bin!  He also picked a few lemons (the ones that had been growing on the branches he pruned).

Today has been partly sunny, partly cloudy, with cooler temperatures (a high of only 71F).  I had a banana for breakfast and a tuna salad sandwich for lunch.  There are leftovers and "planned-overs" in the fridge for dinner.

I called neighbor T and checked on her, exchanged greetings with neighbor S when I went to collect the mail (she was watering her front garden), and spoke on the phone with friend R who called to check on me.

I ordered a six pack of paper towels and two more kitchen towels, over the weekend, and they were delivered, today.  I usually stock up on paper towels at the end of the year, but, I decided that mid-November was close enough to the end of the year to get some now, instead of waiting until the end of December.

Today, I am grateful for:

- The availability of vaccines and boosters!
- Not feeling any adverse side effects!
- M tending to the garden and bringing me another plant cutting
- Packages being delivered
- A restful, relaxed day

Today's joyful activity was tending to the garden with M.  We planted another mango seed that had sprouted!

I am planning to take it easy, tomorrow, too, but, I might tend to some paperwork as that has been piling up!

How was your day, today?  What are your plans for tomorrow?

    1. Thank you, Jules; I am hoping that getting the booster means I will not have to miss out on many more family gatherings!
The sideboard is turning into a plant stand, isn't it? :D

  2. I like the blue and white china filled with plants being displayed together like that. It looks lovely and it will also discourage you from cluttering up the surface with other things.

Glad to hear your booster jab went went. Will your daughter qualify for one? I don't know what rules apply in the US - here in the UK it is currently only offered to the over 50s and people with certain health conditions.

    1. Thank you, Eileen; I like seeing the blue and white china grouped together, like that. :)

Yes, my daughter qualifies for a booster, according to the California Covid vaccine policies. She will be scheduling her appointment for after Thanksgiving.

    1. Thank you, June. :) That's what my daughter said, too, but, I think those three plants would be enough! :D

  4. I'm glad your booster shot went smoothly. You will feel more secure with the added protection, but I know you will still be careful, as we are. We will be eligible at the end of the year, 6 months after the second one.
The sprinkling of "white stuff" hasn't gone away despite the rain, but compared to what is happening out west we have much to be thankful for. We are not in touch with anyone in the affected area but we really feel for them in this crisis, especially after what they went through with the heat and wildfires in summer.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. Yes, I will continue to be careful, but, this will make me feel a little better about family gatherings and coming into contact with some neighbors who I know are not vaccinated. I hope you will be able to get your boosters when the 6 months are up.
Yes, the floods coming on top of the fires is truly a "double whammy" as they say, isn't it?

  5. I am glad you got your booster and things went well. Hopefully you will not have any side-effects. I had Monderna as well and did not have any side effects at all from the booster. I am wondering if that is because it is half the dose of the normal vaccine dosage. Have you heard if that affects side-effects?

The lovely green of your plants looks so nice with the blue of their containers and the white of your sideboard.

    1. Thank you, Debra. I remembered you saying you didn't experience any side effects; I think the dosage being half helped with the amount of side effects experienced. My daughter's booster will be full dose (she received the Pfizer vaccine); she experienced side effects from both previous doses, so I expect her to feel side effects from the booster, too.

Thank you; I like how the plants look on the sideboard. :)

  6. I'm glad you have received the booster and feel ok! Which one did you have this time? My parents both had OAZ for the first two, and Pfizer for the booster. Dad had a painful arm after the booster but otherwise all fine. Over 40s are soon to be offered the booster here, but I don't know if that means I'll get it straight away, or whether I have to wait as I only had my second dose in August. It doesn't make much sense on the face of it as most in their 40s will only have been done relatively recently but I'll just wait to be told! At one point I was reading loads of articles on the subject but now I'm barely keeping up with the details!

    1. Thank you, Lady Ella; I received the Moderna vaccines and booster. My daughter received the Pfizer vaccines and she will probably get the Pfizer booster (she hasn't scheduled hers, yet).
My understanding is that one has to wait 6 months after the 2nd dose to get the booster, so, your booster will probably not be until February, unless things are different over there.

    2. Yes, that is exactly my point - it doesn't really make sense. This morning on the news they said that over 40s are to be eligible in the next couple of weeks but the reporter clarified that in reality this only applies to a few who, for whatever reason, had their original jabs early. Everyone else will only be able to book their appointment for the relevant date. It's a daft/convoluted way of announcing it which I suppose is meant to sound good but in truth they might as well say, "Everyone will be able to have their booster when the time comes".

    3. Yes. Here, in the US, they announced a couple of days ago that the booster dose has been approved for every adult (18 and older) and they can receive it 6 months after their 2nd dose. Friend R says her children in Sri Lanka have been told they can have the booster 3 months after the 2nd dose, but, I don't know if that is accurate or misinformation.

I'm glad you had no adverse effects from your booster vaccination, not so for me I'm afraid :-(

    Love your plants!
    I’ll be reading every day!
