| Hibiscus |
It was 70F inside the house when I woke up on Friday morning and that was cold for me! LOL. I dressed in a pair of slacks, socks, a long sleeved blouse, and a poncho over that, until it warmed up a bit more. Our daytime high was 76F, which wasn't too bad.
It was cloudy in the morning, as we had what is known as a "marine layer", but, it burned off as the sun rose and we had sunshine from around 11:00 a.m. I strolled around the garden, admiring the flowers, and weeded one of the flower beds in the front.
I practiced the piano in the afternoon and did a little housework. Later, in the evening, when M came to tend to the garden, I asked him to take down the window air conditioner unit and return it to the garage. According to the weather forecast, we will have temperatures in the upper 90s, next week, but, it won't be hot enough for me to require air conditioning. He also buried the dead mouse for me, although he thought it was a rat!
Later, I did some vacuuming, changed my bed sheets, and did a load of laundry. Dancer checked my bed making skills and gave his seal of approval:

I was cooking dinner (noodles, with the last bit of chicken stirfry added to it) when neighbor S called to ask if I'd like some cake and fruit from her daughter C's birthday celebration:

Yum! I ate some of it and kept the rest in the fridge for tomorrow.

It was 14°C in the living room first thing this morning! I've attempted the shopping I planned but the DIY place didn't have the big black tiles I need so I'll have to source them somewhere else. At least I got my exercise done for the day! I'm waiting in now for the food delivery this afternoon and will go for a walk along the canal afterwards, assuming it doesn't rain.

The hibiscus is in the back garden. I think the sun would scorch it if it was in the front.
If you've gotten use to 80's and 90's in your house, I'm sure that 70's seemed cold. Hibiscus flowers are so pretty. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what happens with me, Live and Learn. Temperatures in the 80s and 90s are my comfort zone; when it gets to the 70s, I feel cold!

I love Hibiscus and have a couple but we can't have the in the ground because we will freeze a few times each winter.
ReplyDeleteI have only sons and lived at the baseball park every spring and summer. The drawing is a left handed pitcher who looks like he is just before the wind up.
We used to call the hibiscus "shoe flower" in Sri Lanka - apparently, you could use the crushed flower petals to shine shoes! :D

It's surprising how cold 70°F can feel sometimes, especially if it is at all damp. Dancer doesn't have a problem with his fur coat!
ReplyDeleteWe had a lovely day out, drove a long way away in scenic country with very little traffic and had lunch out. It was our second time away from home since March and we made the most of admiring the colours to remember when the winter sets in!
You are very kind, Bushlady; the truth is, I'm just a wimp when it comes to cooler temperatures. :D Both cousin P and friend R were saying how much they liked the cooler temperature and laughing at me for feeling cold. :)

What a beautiful hibiscus plant! It's getting colder here, too. I have been building a fire in the fireplace, wearing my wool and alpaca shawls, and placing my handknit throws over my legs to stay warm. That cake looks yummy!

DeleteHaha! I love that Dancer gave your bed making his seal of approval. Mog reserves that for Lily's bed, as I cover the bottom of the duvet with a woolly blanket.

Cats are funny, aren't they? Dancer approves of Mog's choice of bedding, but, says it is just a tad too warm for woolly blankets at this end, right now. :)
