Today is a new day. Today, I decided I will finish what I started. I managed to clear out a few more files. I am left with a couple of files containing documents that I will keep, plus the folder of quotes. I will make a scrapbook with some of the contents of the folder of quotes, but that will be a project for another day. For now, that folder will be stored with the rest of my files until I am ready to deal with it.
Once the files were dealt with, I started on the desk drawers. The desk is one I bought about 35 years ago, when I worked for a company that designed and furnished offices. They had a basement full of old office furniture. My desk is rather battered and shabby now, but it is solid wood and has served me well. I emptied out the contents of each of the drawers and wiped the inside of the drawer:

Then, sorted through the items, tossed/recycled some stuff, and put the rest of the things back:
Wonder if I have enough glue? |
Today's decluttering:
June 6 Decluttering |
1 empty tin
4 file folders and their contents
1 recipe booklet
1 brochure (for my previous car)
1 heating pad (non-working)
1 agenda/planner
1 packet of gel pens (mostly dried out)
It was a pleasantly cool day, today. In between decluttering my desk, I did some office work and cleaned up after the cat who threw up under my bed! At least he went under the bed and not on the bed! Later in the evening, I video chatted with my daughter and got to hear all about her day at work.
Today, I am grateful for:
- The friends I have made through blogging.
- Cooler weather.
- Neighbor calling and offering to take my trash cans to the curb for me.
- Phone calls from cousin and aunt.
- Cat throwing up under the bed and not on the bed!
I didn't spend any money, today.
How was your Monday? Did you have a good day?
At a tangent - I love that drawer liner. I am glad it's cool for you. It's probably the same temperature here and I'm sweltering. x
ReplyDeleteThe liner is actually contact paper. I have the same pattern lining my kitchen cabinet shelves and drawers.
DeleteToday's high is supposed to be 82F; that's very comfortable for me. Right now, however, it's a cool 70F inside my house. I think you'll be comfortable, too?
Hi Bless. Oh I do love a good de-clutter and it's nice to read about somebody else doing it. Glad you decided to carry on from where you left off. There's plenty of stuff I'm happy to get rid of, but some things I would never get rid of and your Mother's would definitely be on that list. I have my Nanna's 5 year diary and a letter Dad wrote before he died for my wedding day and those I could never part with.
ReplyDeleteIt has been another warm day here today, but I can hear thunder in the distance and we've had bad floods in some parts of the country. And so the British Summer begins.
How is your daughter getting on in her new job? Is it everything she expected? xx
I've been reading about your decluttering, too. You did very well! How nice that you have your Nanna's diary and that very special letter from your Dad! I used to have my father's 5 year diary, but I tossed it before I left my country of birth. We could only take 2 suitcases each and so had to really edit our possessions. But I do have a letter he wrote to my mother for their 10th wedding anniversary (he was in hospital, then, and, being a doctor, probably knew the end was near). My mother gave the letter to me and I will continue to keep it, but, most probably, my daughter won't want it.
DeleteThere are some bad floods in certain other states, but we are still continuing with our drought. Wouldn't mind having some of your British rain!
My daughter is doing well at her job. It's not new to her because she has been working there on a part-time basis, earlier. She has been finishing up her assignments well before expected, so she's been going around asking for more work! I haven't heard from her, yet, today, so I expect she was given more work. :D
I feel honored to have met you Bless. And proud to have you as a blogger friend.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you are feeling better today. Best wishes on your decluttering. I love your idea of scrapbooking the quotes.
Have a great evening. Judy
Thank you, Judy! I feel the same about having you as a blogger friend. :) Hope you are having a wonderful day, as well.
DeleteIt's going to take a while to clear all the hairballs out of his stomach. I'm glad he likes the cat food; keep giving it to him. If you want to hurry the process, maybe the vet can give him something stronger. But as long as he seems to be feeling OK, I'd just keep giving him the food (forever after) that will help send them out the other direction.
ReplyDeleteHe coughed up more, yesterday, but he seems fine, now. He's also shedding like crazy because it is getting warmer now, so more fur-balls are to be expected. Fortunately, he's not a long-haired cat. Thanks again for recommending the food. :)
DeleteYou're doing so well on decluttering! But save those letters and cards ... Even if your daughter isnt all that interested in them now, she most likely will cherish having them as she matures. Such wonderful sentiments and keepsakes. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Carolyn, you are supposed to encourage me to toss stuff out, not keep them! :D Well, I tossed the cards, but I've a few other items I will continue to keep. My step-father saved all the letters I wrote home from college, for example.
DeleteI laughed at your glue stash because I have the same kind of glue stash... got it very cheap, bought lots thinking the kids would need it, and now all the glue is so old that when we open a new stick we find that the glue no longer sticks. The school supplies area is another one that I need to declutter at some point. Once in high school they just don't need all the other stuff that they needed in elementary or middle school.
ReplyDeleteHow considerate of Dancer to throw up under your bed and not on it! I hope the good weather continues for you!
I bought all the glue sticks from the dollar store back when I was more into scrapbooking than I am now. There was nothing more annoying than running out of glue sticks. But when digital cameras came into use and we stopped printing out pictures, I stopped scrapbooking. I should try and get daughter to print out some pictures for me to scrapbook.
DeleteYes, I, too, thought he was very considerate! :D Yesterday, he threw up under the dining table! As long as it's on the hardwood or tiled areas of the floor, I don't mind.
No, that definitely isn't enough glue! I hope you have managed to get a decent stock together in the time since you posted this!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Unfortunately, I've used some of it up and haven't had a chance to replenish the stock! :D
DeleteWell, if worst comes to worst, there's always flour and water paste...
DeleteYes, that's what I used when I was a child! Or, grains of cooked rice which used to be smooched onto the paper, forming a very temporary hold at best! :D
