Sunday: Another New Me

It rained late last night and the garden got a good drink of water.  The rain had ceased by morning and today was a bright, sunny day, with some white clouds.  By evening, however, there were storm clouds building up over the horizon for tomorrow's forecasted storm.  It's supposed to be an El Nino powered storm, so we should get a good amount of rain (as well as wind!).

Today was another quiet, relaxed day.  I did some cooking and cleaning, but, I also spent some time sewing on my quilt.

In the early afternoon, friends of mine brought over their electric hair clippers and daughter shaved my head for me.  I needed to have the head shaved for Wednesday, when I go to get fitted for a wig.  Daughter used the lowest setting on the clippers, which was 1/8 of an inch, which left a bit of a stubble.  I hope it would be OK, because the only other way I know to remove the stubble would have been to shave with a regular razor and I'm afraid to use that in case I nicked myself.

So, as of this afternoon, the new me looks like this:

"All Shaven and Shorn"

It's going to take a little getting used to, but I don't think I look too bad with a shaved head:

The New Me

The blouse I am wearing is one that I had sewn, using Simplicity pattern #7905.  The pattern is for a dress, but I shortened it to make a blouse.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Last night's rain shower
- The garden getting watered
- Today's sunshine and lovely weather
- Friends lending me their hair clippers
- Daughter shaving my head so I can get fitted for the wig

How was your Sunday?

    1. Thank you, Athene. I guess my new motto will be "Bald is Beautiful"! But the wig will come in handy when I have to go out in public - fewer stares and so forth.

  3. Having not seen a picture of you before, it's not a shock to see you without hair, but I do want to say that you look fabulous! Leaving a stubble will probably help by preventing itchiness, I would think. Have a great day today!

    1. Thank you, Judy. The fabric is what I found in my mother's stash, after her death. I liked the color and decided to make a blouse for myself with it. The garden got more rain early this morning, so I am happy about that.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. LOL, I just have the one shade of lipstick, so it matching the blouse was entirely coincidental!

Are you sure you are heading out for a wig fitting? You look dolled up enough for a night out on the town instead! :) I'm just teasing you.

Honestly, seeing your lovely smile made my day!

  9. You look beautiful Bless. I bet Little Bless was looking for those eyes in the back of your head that she thought you had when she was little....now of course knowing you were just wise back then too. I told DH if he lost his hair I would shave my head too. Hugs and prayers Bless. From Frugal

    1. Thank you, Frugal. Oh, those eyes at the back of my head is a long running joke between the two of us, now! :D Little Bless asked me if I'd like her to shave her head, but I said no. I honestly believe she would have done it had I said yes!

    1. Thank you, Lady Ella. I still had eye brows in that picture! I lost my eyebrows and lashes, later. But, it all grew back, eventually. My hair is now just below my shoulders. :)
