CT Scan on Monday

Asparagus Fern Flowers

On Monday, I had my CT Scan.  It was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (I didn't even know that the radiology clinic would be open that late!).  I was told to be there by 6:15 p.m.  I left the house in plenty of time to make allowance for the evening commute traffic and I'm glad I did.  I got to the clinic just before 6:00 p.m. and it took me about 20 minutes to fill out all the forms!

I was called in shortly after that, but, there was a long wait to be taken in for the scan.  I had to have an IV inserted for a contrast dye for the scan; the scan itself took about 10-15 minutes.  The most uncomfortable part for me was to keep both arms held above my head.  For some odd reason, I just couldn't relax my shoulders.  I left the clinic around 7:30 p.m. and got home just before 8:30 p.m.

Then, I took the trash cans out to the curb and checked the mail before I came inside.

I had been told not to eat anything four hours before the procedure.  But, I wasn't hungry and couldn't really eat anything other than the last two manzano bananas.  I didn't feel like eating after I came home, either, so I just had two scrambled eggs and the last homegrown plum for dinner and dessert.

I did a little bit of housework in the morning before I went for the scan; I just couldn't settle down to do anything much.  And I felt quite worn out after I came home, so, I took it easy.  I will have to double up and get a few things done on Tuesday and Wednesday.  On Thursday, I have an appointment with the doctor to go over the scan results and I probably won't feel like doing anything much then, either!

On Monday, I was grateful for:

- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- Having access to diagnostic tests
- Health insurance
- The procedure went smoothly
- Prayers and well wishes from family and friends

Monday's joyful activity was relaxing!

No big plans for Tuesday.  I've a list of small tasks to accomplish and I'll be happy if I can get through that list.

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for Tuesday?

  2. Sending all good vibes. The scan sounds very stressful. There's something about going through the hospital procedures that adds to tension. You're entirely at the mercy of doctors and nurses who are familiar with the strange terms and references that are used in these medical settings but that are so unfamiliar to the rest of the world. Trying to relax your shoulders must have been so hard in that setting and I'm not surprised that you were out of sorts afterwards.

I hope that you get good results.

    1. Thank you, Lyssa. There was a lot of "Take a deep breath and hold it" and "Start breathing again" as I was moved in and out of the scanner and whirring noises. But, otherwise, the procedure itself was okay. I said my prayers the entire time.
I appreciate your good vibes and well wishes for the results.

  5. You have the next step done in your process of assessing if there's a problem. I hope you are able to relax a little before Thursday, but I know that would be hard for me. Channel Dancer. I'm sure he knows how to relax. I used to look at my cat's for inspiration that way. :)

    1. Thank you, June. Yes, the scan is supposed to show the cause of the symptoms I've been having. We shall see. But, my mind keeps going in a hundred different ways! I do need to channel Dancer: eat tuna and take naps! :D

  8. I remember the dye injection and the noise of the machine. I can't remember why I went in there, now!! I'm praying that you will get good news on Thursday.
