The Week So Far

Martha Washington Geraniums

On Monday, I ordered and picked up groceries and on the way home, put gas to the car ($5.15/gal.; I put $50 worth).  I also called in a refill for Dancer's medication, gave Dancer his monthly flea prevention medication, paid the natural gas bill, watered the indoor plants, and took the trash cans to the curb.  I started making a meal plan, but, then, my lovely neighbor S brought me dinner!

Beer Battered Fried Tilapia and Cabbage Salad
(Plus some mango salad)

There are leftovers for at least another couple of meals.

On Tuesday, I took Dancer to the vet clinic for his arthritis injection and thyroid blood work.  I had to give him his sedative before I took him in and this time, he was very mellow on the ride to and from, even falling asleep for short periods of time.  He has gained a pound and that is a very good sign.  The vet will contact me with the blood work results, later in the week.

After I brought him home, I went to the grocery store to pick up the missing box of baking soda.  The person I spoke with on Monday wasn't there, but, the person I spoke with on Tuesday was very helpful and I was able to get the missing box of baking soda.

I had made patties (ground turkey filling encased in pastry) for dinner on Sunday and I had leftover patties for brunch on Monday and for breakfast on Tuesday.  After I came home from the grocery store, I shared a can of tuna with Dancer, making a tuna salad sandwich with my share of the can of tuna (there's leftover tuna salad for Wednesday's brunch).  I cooked a shrimp curry for dinner on Tuesday, with rice, cucumber salad, and dhal:

Rice, Shrimp Curry, Dhal, and Cucumber

I kept about two servings of shrimp curry in the fridge for meals this week and froze another two servings for later.

Plans for Wednesday include going for some lab work in preparation for my appointment with the oncology nurse practitioner on Friday.  Unfortunately, the lab appointment time coincides with M's regularly scheduled time and day for tending to the garden.  But, I'll leave instructions for him - he needs to start making two planting beds for the corn and okra we want to plant this year.

So far this week, I am grateful for:
- Being able to order and pick up groceries, including being given the missing item without a fuss
- Vet services for Dancer
- Availability of gas for the car
- Availability of medical services for myself
- Neighbor S bringing me dinner on Monday night

The week's joyful activities have included enjoying the dinner S provided, spending time in the garden, and crocheting.

How is your week coming along?

  2. Your geraniums are beautiful, I love the colour. How kind of your neighbour to bring you such a delicious meal. That's good that Dancer wasn't stressed by his visit to the vet and good news he has gained some weight, he deserves his treat of tuna. We had some beautiful weather yesterday, I walked Tilly not needing my jacket and I even had to remove my cardigan half way round as it was so hot.

    1. Thank you, Eileen; I love that color of geraniums. I've finally managed to get a cutting to root and I'm planning on taking more cuttings this summer. :)
It really was very kind of S to bring me dinner.
Yes, Dancer did well in the car and at the vet's; he definitely deserved his tuna treat! :)
I'm glad you are having some nice weather at long last and you were able to take Tilly for a walk without needing a jacket. Another blog friend and I had a running joke about needing to wear jackets or not (partly because I am always so cold!)

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou. Many years ago, it showed up from under the garden wall, from the neighbor's behind me, and we encouraged it to grow and took cuttings from that plant! My mother was very good at getting cuttings to grow; I don't have her luck, but, I did manage to get one cutting to root, last year, and I'm looking forward to taking more cuttings this year. I would like to have that plant grow in more places in my garden. :)
The great mountain climber is recovering from his visit to the vet, but, he's sleeping it off on my daughter's bed! :D

    1. Yes, that's what I am thinking, June; I'll just plan on having leftovers for the rest of the week. Minimal cooking involved! :)
I do hope that Dancer is finally starting to improve. How are you adjusting to life without kitties?

  5. You have some seriously good neighbors. I would love it if one of mine brought over dinner some night. Conversely they might love it if I took dinner to them!

  6. You've accomplished a lot. I'm glad that Dancer was alright on the journey and that he's doing well on his medicine. Cats hide when they're poorly and it's hard to treat them sometimes.

    You make gorgeous food.

    1. Thank you, Lyssa. It's been a bit of a busy week! Dancer had to be sedated for the trip to the vet's, but, that's better than him having a panic attack and the vet thinking he's having a heart attack!
Thank you; I actually enjoy cooking, but, I don't want to have to cook on a daily basis. So, I will cook something and eat it for several days! :D

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I'm going to reheat the fried fish for my dinner, tonight, and will have it with more salad.
Dancer did very well on the trip to the vet. He's sleeping off the effects of the sedative, today! :D

  8. Those geraniums are a very pretty color! I've been busy this week with final exams and grading. Taking a break from that tomorrow, as I get a root canal. I'm so not looking forward to that! But needs must. I hope your labs are good and all goes well with the nurse.

    1. They are a pretty purple, aren't they?
My goodness! A root canal is not much of a break from grading final exams! Hope that goes well and you recover from it without any difficulties. Thank you for the well wishes.

  11. All that food looks delicious.
It's good to know that Dancer is doing okay. Our furry family members can often be cause for concern. Thankfully, my two seem to be fine just now. Mog's previous health worries just randomly disappeared as quickly as they arrived. And the only problem with Boo, is that he refuses to hold still while I apply his flea treatment! Xx
