Spring Flower Arrangement |
Another warm, spring day, here. I asked daughter to pick a lemon from the garden, this morning and she accidentally broke a branch along with the lemon! It had tiny lemon flower buds growing on it and it seemed a shame to just throw the branch away, so, I decided to try my hand at a flower arrangement, with the branch and a few osteospermum flowers. Now I'm thinking I should have stuck the branch going the other way, instead! I might redo it, tomorrow.
I spent a relaxed day, today. I continued to tidy up the yarn ends on my crocheted blanket, read and commented on blog posts, practiced the piano for a bit, watered the indoor plants, watched news, cooked (made that chicken curry, finally), did the dishes, tidied the kitchen, and chatted with friend R.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Sunny, warm days
- Fresh lemons and oranges from the garden
- Fresh flowers
- Chatting with friends
- Relaxed days
Today's joyful activity was trying to do a flower arrangement!
Plans for tomorrow include vacuuming.
How was your Wednesday? What are your plans for Thursday?
I like the way the branch is oriented. Is there a chance it could be rooted?
ReplyDeleteThank you! Lemon branches that are just turning woody (a cutting of that year's new growth, taken at the end of summer) can be rooted with the aid of rooting hormone, I've read, but, I already have 3 lemon trees and don't think I need anymore! Could try it as an experiment, maybe.
DeleteI admit to being just a teeny bit envious that you can pick citrus fruits in your garden. It's a whole world away from my (currently) waterlogged garden!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying the RootsTech online conference today (Thursday), so have zero expectation of finishing off the housework 😏
This is our citrus season. :) We've received less than 5 inches of rain, this winter, which is one third of what we should have received. I wouldn't mind another good soaking rain or two!
DeleteEnjoy your online conference. Housework can (and will) wait!
Your arrangement is beautiful! I'm glad you had a nice relaxing day :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. I feel that I've been relaxing a bit too much, lately, but, as my daughter keeps reminding me, I'm retired and I have earned the right to relax! :D
DeleteI took an ikebana lessons and flunked! Your arrangement is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne. It's something I would love to learn how to do, properly!
DeleteI also love that arrangement. Will be interested to see if you change it, but I don't think it necessary!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lady Ella. I didn't change the arrangement, today, but the flowers will probably fade by tomorrow and I might redo the arrangement, then. :)
DeleteI like your arrangement.
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to go cut off two snapped and broken branches on my rhododendron that I noticed the other day and bring them inside instead of just putting them directly in the yard waste bin.
Thank you, Debra. Yay for brining in the broken branches! Might as well enjoy seeing some natural plant material in a vase, indoors, for a few days, before it dries up and needs to be tossed. :)
DeleteI love that arrangement! Imagine being able to pick a lemon from your own tree. I get to pick the most respectable one I can find from a produce bin at the store!
ReplyDeleteLast night at 11.30pm we were snug in bed and suddenly we heard the plough clearing our driveway of the vast amount of snow that had fallen in the day. This morning we woke up to the sun shining on a spectacular snow scene. Every twig and branch was covered in white, and the sky was blue.
Thank you, Bushlady. Yes, I'm spoiled - fresh lemons and oranges from the garden. :)
DeleteGlad the snow plough cleared your driveway, even at that time of the night! It sounds like a winder wonderland, outside! How beautiful!
I like your arrangement. It must be wonderful to pick fresh lemons from your garden. I have several small lemon tree saplings in pots on my kitchen window ledge. I doubt they will produce any fruit but I'll let you know in a few years :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules. Yes, it is nice to be able to walk out into the backyard and pick fruits! Oh, I do hope your little lemon saplings will grow to produce some fruit! Or, even, just flowers, because they have the most divine scent!
