Somewhat Productive Tuesday

Another, sunny, warm day, today.

I spent a quiet day doing office work for the most part, including emailing my supervisor with a status update on the project I am currently working on, alerting her to the fact that I am nearing the end, so that she knows I'll be ready for another assignment in the next week or so.

I debated going to the grocery store to take advantage of the sale on potatoes and tilapia, but decided not to.  I felt bad about not going after getting everyone's input on whether to buy the potatoes or not, etc., but I just didn't feel like going grocery shopping again, after having gone yesterday.  I guess yesterday's running of errands tired me.

Instead, I did my office work, brought the trash cans in, sat outside in the sunshine for a bit, put away the laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, and watered the indoor plants.  The pharmacy texted to say that another medication refill was ready for pick up, but I decided to postpone picking it up until tomorrow.  I also decided to postpone doing another load of laundry until tomorrow, as well!

I had the rest of the milk rice with some of the fish curry for brunch, followed by a banana for dessert.  In the afternoon, I had a peanut butter sandwich for a snack.  Dinner was pasta with more of the fish curry and the last piece of ice cream cake and grapes for dessert.  There's more pasta and fish curry for tomorrow's dinner, as well.

Today, I am grateful for:
- The sunny, warm day
- Being able to work from home
- Having the option of taking it easy if I need to
- Phone calls from family and friends
- Video chatting with my daughter

I feel I haven't been very productive today because I didn't go grocery shopping again and didn't do the load of laundry I had planned to do; but other than that, I did everything I had on my to do list for today.

Tuesday's To Do List:
- Office work (work from home) - DONE
- Bring trash cans in - DONE
- Put away dried laundry - DONE
- Do another load of laundry - Wednesday
- Clean the bathrooms - DONE
- Water the indoor plants - DONE

Wednesday's To Do List:
- Office work
- Load of laundry
- Pharmacy
- Other daily tasks such as dishes, litter box, etc.

How was your Tuesday?  Were you able to accomplish all you had planned to do?

  1. Sounds like a very productive day to me. I'd just change my list to match that. :)

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. I need to get over this "if I don't do it all, then I didn't do anything" way of feeling!

  2. Oh my dear I think you had a brilliant day. Many jobs done and nothing better than sitting outside in the warm sunshine to renew the soul and your spirit.

No worries that you didn't go shopping for the Tuesday sale items. It was fun to read the comments and I for one enjoyed reading about how to grow potatoes in a bucket from blogger Sharon.

I have learned to accept that I need to pace myself. I will not be the can go all day type of person I was in the past but that is o.k.
Today I will go and get our weekly shop this morning. Hopefully take my walk. Rest this afternoon so that I will enjoy the light supper served at church before the midweek Lent service.

    1. Thank you, Sandy. I am very good at telling others to pace themselves and focus on what they did and not what they didn't do, but don't always follow my own advice! Some of the medications I take make me tired, give me bone aches, joint pain, etc. I don't want to make that an excuse for not doing what I have to do, but often, it is the reason why I don't get to some of the things on my to do list.

That was very interesting about how to grow potatoes in a bucket, wasn't it? I am definitely going to give it a try!

I hope you have a lovely day and enjoy the supper and services. It sounds very nice.

    1. Thank you, Jane. This week, I am working from home, so I can take a few minutes to pop in a load of laundry, etc., but I just lacked the energy and the motivation, yesterday. My energy levels are just not where they used to be before the cancer treatments and recovery is taking longer than I expected. But, I am getting better and that's what is important. :)

  4. There'll be other sales, Bless. You worked from home and, as you said, you did everything else on your list so you indeed were productive!

I always put too much on my To Do List but I never expect to complete it all. Keeping it on the blog and reporting it day to day keeps me accountable and organized so I plan on keeping doing that.

I hope you have a great Wednesday. Happy International Women's Day!

    1. Nathalie, yes, there'll be other sales. In fact, a different store is offering 10 lbs. potatoes for $.99 today!

I have a "master list" of things I want to do/get done around the house (like paint the family room, replace the living room drapes, etc.), but my daily lists are just that - what I would like to get done that day. I guess we'll never run out of things to do!

Happy International Women's Day to you, too! :)

  5. I'm accomplishing the bare minimum again this week Bless but on your advice I'm having a break from the housework routine and I refuse to feel guilty about it. I recommend you do the same :)

You did much more than you didn't do - what's a bit of shopping and laundry when all's said and done. The best thing you did was sit outside in the sunshine, much better than being indoors cleaning. xx

    1. Oh, Suzanne, I am so good at giving advice to others but so bad about following my own advice! :D To be quite honest, I really didn't need to go grocery shopping (I can manage quite well without the potatoes and the fish) and I didn't have to do the laundry on a given day. It's just that, once I put them on my to do list, I feel I should get them done! I really do need to cut myself some slack, don't I?

Hope you are having a good week. Take care.

  6. Our input will keep -- you can think of it the next time potatoes are on sale. :) Glad you rested instead of going out. Plus not buying anything is certainly cheaper than anything else you might have decided!

    1. Thank you, Laura. Another store is having the same deal on potatoes, today! So, it's not like they don't go on sale on a regular basis. :)

Hope your day is going well.

But think I will hold it off until, Friday.. I am going to do my main grocery shopping tomorrow. Going to Kroger, and a couple more stores in a larger town away from me [about and hour].. 1. Thank you, Judy. I'm learning not to push myself when I am feeling tired and trying not to feel guilty about it!

Sounds like you had a busy day with shopping and another busy day tomorrow, too. That's a bit of a drive for groceries, but hope you get some good deals. Have a blessed week, Judy.

  8. Sounds like you are getting older and wiser, not making a special trip for the potatoes! I think monetary savings always have to be weighed against other factors like time, cost of gas if you drive, health, weather and stress. I hate it when I don't get something that is a good special but there are some days when it makes more sense to stay put. Yesterday was a day when I wanted to go out and I planned to get another couple of loaves on special at a particular store, but I was quite tired like you, and it seemed I could do better to putter at home. Today DH came out with me and I found the same bread special still on at our other store, and the glucosamine that I would have bought 20% off seniors' discount at one drug store, I bought at the other who have Wednesday for their seniors' day! But I did forget to pick up a couple more cartons of my favourite yogurt and that special ends today. Found two items in our town that I had planned to look for tomorrow in the town where I am going for a medical appointment, so those came off my list. Altogether a good outing on the whole!

I like the hint from readers about freezing mashed potatoes. I only buy 5lb bags and they can often sprout faster than I can use them.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. Yes, getting older, definitely, and hopefully, wiser, too! :D

Glad you were able to get your bread and glucosamine at the special prices at different stores. Too bad about the yogurt, though, but, hopefully, there'll be another sale on them, soon.

Potatoes will go on sale again, and I'll buy some then. For now, I've plenty of rice, pasta, and bread.

Hope your medical appointment tomorrow goes well and you have a good rest of the week. Take care.

  9. No need to worry about not shopping, I often do things like that, particularly if it something I dont need right away. the knowledge is there for when and if you need it. You got a lot done and that is important. We seem to slow heaps when the 60 mark is hit, and often take longer to recuperate, well I know that I do! Hope you have such a great productive day today and with some lovely down time.

    1. Thank you, Sharon. You are very kind. The cancer treatments took more out of me than I thought! I'm taking longer to recuperate than I would like, but, according to my doctors, it takes time! Hope your day is going well, too. Take care.

  10. Sometimes the very act of getting in a car and driving somewhere to shop is overwhelming and tiring! Listen to your body and it will let you know what to do. Mine is saying get off the blooming computer and go to bed!

    1. Thank you, Anne. That's exactly what it is - getting dressed, getting in the car, and driving. Seems to take more energy than I feel like expending! Hope you listened to your body and went to bed! :D Have a great day, tomorrow.
