Family Time Saturday

Today was another hot day.

But, in the morning, when it was still a bit cooler, I did some tidying and sweeping, while daughter cleaned her bathroom.

At noon, my sister and her husband came over and took us out to lunch.  We had Italian food and I was happy to be able to taste my food again.  :)  I couldn't finish my portion, though, so brought the leftovers home.

In the afternoon, we put the air conditioner on in the bedroom and both daughter and I took naps!  I woke up once, when one of my cousins called, but I went back to sleep, again, afterwards!

Later in the evening, one of my aunts and cousins came to visit me.  I cooked some rice and warmed up a packet of chicken curry and a packet of cashew curry I had in the freezer, and yesterday's smoked sausage and broccoli stir-fry and offered them dinner, with grapes for dessert.  My cousin brought me another bag of groceries: a loaf of cinnamon-raisin bread, a jar of peanut butter with strawberry jam, cans of fruit and packets of fruit cups, and a 3-pack package of cheese, dried fruit and nuts snack mix.  She is such a blessing to me.

As I mentioned yesterday, I am a day behind with the decluttering.  So, today, I decluttered 22 items (with a little help from daughter) for July 22:

July 22 Decluttering: 2 Printers
Two printers.  One side of the roller is broken on the printer in the front and although it prints, the paper comes out all crinkled and printed over on that side.  The printer part of the one in the back doesn't work, but the scanner does.  Daughter has a new printer with a scanner, so we don't need to keep these two items.

July 22 Decluttering: 20 books
With daughter's help, I also decluttered 20 books.  10 of them were her old text books from her undergrad years:

10 Text Books
The other 10 were some of my crafts and gardening books:

Crafts and Gardening Books
Today, I am grateful for:

- Lunch out with sister
- Afternoon naps in a cool bedroom
- Phone chat with cousin
- Visit and dinner with aunt and cousin
- Daughter helping with the decluttering

How was your Saturday?

  1. You are decluttering big things now! 2 printers and all those books, wow. You had a very social day, just seeing people once would have been enough to send me to take a nap afterwards too but then you visited again and also cooked! I'm glad you enjoyed all your visitors. It was very sweet of your cousin to bring you all those goodies and I'm happy for you that you can taste food and enjoy it again. How is the situation with the air quality and the fires? Are you able to breathe comfortably? Take care.

    1. The air quality was pretty bad, yesterday. There was a pall of smoke overhead, blocking out the sun, and an orange haze, with specks of ash falling down! I kept the windows shut until late at night, when I opened them to cool down the house a bit. But it is much better, this morning. Maybe they got the fire under control or the wind direction changed.

  3. Kudos for de-clutter progress. I wondered where you were sending all the items you've been de-cluttering. Do you load them in the car daily for disposal an electronic recycle when appropriate, charity outlet or ? each outing for treatment or shopping? Do yo have the pick-up schedule for larger organizations like SA?

    1. I have tossed a few items that needed to be tossed, but all the items for donation are bagged and/or boxed and are stacked until I call for a pick up. I am waiting until this month's decluttering is finished to schedule the pick up - then I can call and say I have X bags of clothes, X bags of books, etc., so they can make out the receipt.
