| More Groceries |
I put in an order for a grocery delivery on Saturday and it was delivered on Sunday. I wanted a few items I didn't buy from the ethnic store earlier in the week, including 4 lb. packages of sugar that was on sale during the weekend only and a free pound of butter. I received everything I ordered, other than a quart of milk. The shopper sent me a picture of the dairy section showing the bare shelves where the milk should have been. But, the store had daughter's half and half and we were happy about that.
I bought half and half, chicken drumsticks, lettuce, carrots, bread, tortillas, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, and sparkling water.
Here's the receipt:
Order Summary

June Grocery Budget (for food items only) = $250 - $26.13 (spent on the last day of May) = $223.87

Balance left in June Grocery Budget = $223.87 - $117.40 = $106.47
I had better ease up on the grocery shopping for a bit, or else, I'll run out of grocery money before the month is over!
As akways, I am grateful for:
- The availability of most grocery items
- Being able to order groceries online and have them delivered
- Weekly sales and coupons
- Being able to stock up when things are on sale
- The occasional splurge items
How are you coming along with your grocery shopping this month?

That was a great deal on the sugar, and it doesn't go bad. If you're doing a lot of preserving, it will be a boon that you stocked up when it was on sale.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyssa. I do use a lot of sugar to make my jams and chutneys and, of course, in baking, etc. I like to stock up on things like sugar when it goes on sale.
DeleteWe've had a couple of special events recently, so we've been doing more grocery shopping than usual. I'm ready to get back to our regular routines.
ReplyDeleteHaving special events do impact grocery shopping, but, they are worth it. Hope the return to regular routines go smoothly. :)
DeleteI can't imagine being out of milk, that's such a staple. Weird. You did well with the prices it seems. You must do lots of baking to use that much sugar. I think I might use
ReplyDeleteI see there's another, longer comment from you, Sandy, so I'll reply to that.
DeleteI think I might use 1 pounds of sugar in a year. YOu must do alot of baking? Milk is such a staple I can't imagine a store not having it. Wow! You did well it seems with pricing. I dislike grocery buying so when I order I get alot and fill the pantry shelves and as much in the freezer as I can so I don't have to mess with it for a good period of time, except for things like milk and some fresh veggies.
ReplyDeleteI do use a lot of sugar because I make jam, chutney, etc., and can fruit in sugar syrup. Plus, both my daughter and I use it in our tea/coffee.
DeleteYes, milk is a staple, but, I am not surprised that the store was out of it. We are likely to experience more and more shortages with supply chain issues.
It's good that you get plenty when you order groceries. Having a well stocked pantry and freezer is a good thing. I try to have a well stocked pantry, too, with items I've bought when they go on sale. :)
Wow - free butter - good deal!
ReplyDeleteYes, I was issued a "Best Customer" coupon for a pound of free store brand butter, this month, and I decided to redeem it right away. :)
DeleteI needed to get a quick top-up shop this evening. I'd gotten the wrong yoghurt for Lily :)
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I hope you were able to get the correct yoghurt for her!
DeleteIt's wonderful to find good prices these days. You did great.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. I'm trying my best to eat well on the budget I've set for myself and my daughter. :)
DeleteWell you can't beat free butter can you?
ReplyDeleteIt was nice that your shopper sent you an image of the milk situation.
Not going to turn my nose up at free butter! Or, just about any groceries that are free for that matter! Unless it is something we will absolutely not eat.
