SPSH - Third Link Up

It's time for the third and last SPSH link up, hosted by Mary-Lou at Patio Postcards.

These are my selections for the prompts:

No. 1 - A Breakfast of Champions: I have two photos for this prompt:

No 1a.  Milkrice and accompaniments - anticlockwise: seeni sambol (spicy onion relish), pieces of jaggery (palm sugar), and mango (in lieu of the more traditional bananas).  Milkrice is usually made to celebrate special occasions and it is traditional to serve it on the first of the month:

1a. A Breakfast of Champions: Milkrice and Accompaniments

No. 1b - An alternate breakfast of Champions:

Alternate Breakfast of Champions: Eggs, Bacon, Toast, Orange Juice

2. Favorite Time of Day: Sunset

2. Favorite Time of Day: Sunset

8. Window Views - The back yard, taken through the sliding glass door (windows are too dusty - not that the sliding glass door was much better!)

8. Window Sliding Glass Door Views

10. Delivery Van/Truck Making the Deliveries  I was unable to take a photo of any delivery vans or trucks, even though I had some packages delivered!  Wasn't quick enough to catch a glimpse of the trucks!

Alt. A:  Covid Safety:

12. Something That is Cause for Celebration -  The change of seasons/arrival of autumn:

13. Your Marie Kondo Moment - Or Not Currently, my whole house could be an "Or Not"!  LOL.  Instead, I chose to go with Alt. B - to me, the most beautiful landscape of the season is my yard, front and back!

16. A Guilty Pleasure - Something That Recharges You:  Dessert!  Especially, Avocado Pudding!  (Mashed ripe avocado, mixed with sugar and condensed milk!)

No. 16 A Guilty Pleasure: Avocado Pudding

18. Upside Down - Right Side Up -  What could be more an upside down and right side up than an upside down peach cake, which is right side up when served!

No. 18:  Upside Down - Right Side Up: An Upside Down Peach Cake

19. Steps - But Who's Counting?  Step-by-step instructions!  12 steps to reupholster a chair cushion!

No. 19 Steps - But Who's Counting?:  12 Steps!

20. Decades of Sharing - Something in your home from the 70's, 80's, 90's, or 00's

This one was hard because I have so many items in my home that are from the 70s onwards!

Pyrex "Harvest Wheat" Mixing Bowl; 1979

Photos to my 1st link up can be found here.

Photos to my 2nd link up can be found here.

Thank you, Mary-Lou for this opportunity to participate in the SPSH.

Thank you, too, to my daughter, who, patiently emailed me the pictures I'd text to her, because my phone will not let me email the pictures to myself.

  1. It's a wrap! Sounds as if you enjoyed the hunt. This is the first time I think I have seen wide-angle shots of your garden. It looks very inviting

    1. Thank you, Lady Ella. Yes, I enjoyed the hunt. :) The garden doesn't look too bad, does it? The front garden could do with more attention, but, the back is coming along, nicely. :)

    1. Thank you, June. That cake was a big hit with everyone who had a piece of it! :D I added some almond essence to the cake batter and it really made a big flavor impact.

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou. :) I was holding out for a picture of a delivery truck and my not Marie Kondo moment, but, I decided to use the alternatives, instead. The peach cake was made especially for the prompt! LOL!

  7. Great photos for the categories. I love the doodles. DH would certainly prefer the alternate Breakfast of Champions but I would probably enjoy your milk rice with spicy accompaniments.

Progress on the decluttering - I acquired a better stick blender with some Air Miles and it comes with a substantial little processor attachment with various blades. This means that I can donate my mandolin (acquired from a charity shop years ago), along with the old stick blender. I also decided to donate a sugar grinder. However, I am hesitating over a sweet little teapot with a non-matching lid! Also I have a cylindrical container with separators for making hamburgers, which I never make. Part of me thinks I might use my new appliance and make veggie burgers, so I should keep it. We shall see!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I remembered you had asked me if you'd see the milkrice as my breakfast of champions picture! :D I made some for breakfast, yesterday, too, but, didn't photograph it.

Well done on the decluttering! Maybe keep the hamburger maker for a little longer? See if you will actually make the veggie burgers? Do you use the teapot or is it a decorative item? I have something like 7 teapots and at least 3 of them are purely decorative! These days, I tend to use tea bags for the most part, but, it is nice to be able to pour tea out from a tea pot on those special occasions, isn't it?

  9. Your garden views are wonderful to look at. In addition to enjoying spending time in your garden, you must so enjoy gazing out and enjoying the view.
I enjoyed your other pictures as well. Your pyrex is doing double duty as a fall decoration.:)

    1. Thank you, Debra; I do enjoy looking out at the garden. :) Oh, thank you for pointing out that the pyrex was doing double duty as fall decoration! The October monthly photo challenge is "Autumn" - I can take a new picture of the pyrex for that! :D

  10. Great photos! I have never had a breakfast like the first one you show but it looks delicious. I wonder how many of us still have original Pyrex cooking utensils in our kitchen? I know I do, who knew they would last so many years?
