| Copper Bowls - Part of Today's Decluttering |
A slightly cooler day, today, with a high of only 89F.
Once again, I got the housework done first thing in the morning - well, after the morning routine of feeding the cats, having a cup of tea, and saying my prayers, of course. Today, it was dusting the family room and watering the indoor plants.
Then, I took some cornbread over to the neighbors. I offered a piece to friend R, too, but, she declined, saying she didn't much like cornbread.
Later, I started on the paperwork, but, didn't finish.
In the evening, after daughter finished working for the day, we drove over to the library to drop off our ballots for California's gubernatorial recall election (election day is September 14, but we can submit the ballots early) in the ballot box that is located in their parking lot. We preferred to drop them off in a ballot box than mail them in and I am grateful that we are able to do so, especially during the pandemic. We didn't go inside the library, however, as we are still not quite ready to do that. On the way home, we got ourselves a hamburger (for me), chicken nuggets (for daughter), and fries (to share) from the drive through window of a nearby fast food place.
Afterwards, I watched news, cooked some rice and some sauteed, curried green beans, and did the dishes (by hand).
Today's decluttering included the three copper bowls pictured above; part of my copper collection. I still like them, but, they are more decorative than useful and I have too many decorative items.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Being able to vote, vote early, and drop off ballots
- A safe drive to the library and back
- Fast food drive throughs!
- My daughter being home with me
- What I was able to accomplish
Today's joyful activity was being able to cast my vote and participate in the election.

They are very attractive copper bowls - but like you, I am getting rid of many items in the "decorative but not useful" category. Yesterday was surprisingly hot here, I went for a bike ride.

DeleteMy Tuesday was good. I spent the day puttering/cleaning in the basement and I worked in the evening. Of note, I got my husband to reduce his puzzle collection by 10!

DeleteWe are thinking of go to the early polls for our federal election come the 20th, I'm doubtful to change my mind. Pretty bowls & I am sure someone else will give them an appreciative home.
ReplyDeleteIt's better to get the voting done early, if you know how you are going to vote, in my opinion. Get it done and out of the way, so to speak. :)
DeleteI always use a postal vote. I have done since Ced was ill and I applied for the postal option for both of us as I wasn't able get him to the polling station. I find it convenient and have never bothered to change it.
ReplyDeleteIt made me laugh that your slightly cooler day was hotter than our high of 30C yesterday! I don't cope well with the heat so I have no idea how you manage to carry on with housework etc. when it's that hot. I suppose it boils down to what you're used to.
In pre-Covid days, I used to enjoy voting in person at the polling center. But, now, I am grateful that I can vote by mail, or drop off the ballot in an official ballot box! I'd have been happy to mail it in, but, after the 2020 election, when there was such a fuss over mail-in ballots, I prefer to drop mine off at a ballot box.
DeleteI try to do the housework when it is cooler in the mornings or late in the evenings. It is 90F right now, at 2:30 p.m.; according to the weather report, it feels like 96F in the sun and 88F in the shade! It's quite comfortable for me inside the house, especially with the fan on. :)
I used to have 4 little copper moulds on a holder and they eventually went because we had the kitchen painted and I didn't want to put them back.
ReplyDeleteOur Tuesday was exciting, we went to buy my new laptop and after a fast food lunch similar to yours, we went to a place where it is possible to wander through an old growth forest. Those trees are just so tall and I thought the ones in our yard were pretty big!
I would like to have my kitchen painted (and whole house, actually) and that's a good question to ask myself when I'm decluttering - would I want to put this back up on freshly painted walls?!
DeleteCongratulations on getting a new laptop! How lovely it must have been to walk through the old growth forest! Not much of that remaining in the world, these days, is there? Have you heard of "shinrin yoku" ("forest bathing")? Basically, it is walking in a forest and immersing yourself in it. It is supposed to have many health benefits (lowering blood pressure, etc.)

ReplyDeleteI need to fill out my ballot and drop it off at the library, too. The last time I went, the patrons inside weren't wearing masks, so I no longer go. I just don't want to risk it.
ReplyDeleteYou still have a few days to do so, Stephenie; hope the ballot box is located outside your library so you can drop off your ballot without going in to the building. The libraries here require masks to be worn inside (LA County has an indoor mask mandate in effect), but, with Covid case numbers still as high as they are, I don't want to risk going anywhere unless I absolutely have to. :)
