It's been a busy couple of days. On Monday, we celebrated my daughter's birthday by going out to lunch at a Cuban restaurant. But, before we did that, we went to one of the voting centers that was open for early voting and cast our ballots. I am so glad that we were able to take advantage of the ability to vote early, because there was absolutely no line and the whole process took under 10 minutes. Then, we went to lunch and while the food was good and plentiful, we probably won't add it to our list of favorite restaurants. My daughter had a carne asada salad in a tostada bowl and I had a chicken tamale with rice and beans.
After we came back from lunch, I dusted the living room and dining area, did a load of laundry, cleaned out the fridge, emptied the kitchen trash, and took the trash cans out to the curb. Later, when daughter went out to dinner in the evening with her friend A (she's the girl whose bridesmaid dress I hemmed, last year), I watered the front garden. I was able to get my regular Monday cleaning tasks done.
After dinner, A came back with my daughter and they sat and discussed A's wedding plans for a while (A got engaged over Christmas and she has asked my daughter to be her maid of honor).
On Tuesday, daughter and I met with our financial planner to have a few things attended to. Later in the afternoon, we both took naps on the sofa! In the evening, friend R came over to wish my daughter and have tea. I invited her to stay to dinner, but, she declined, so daughter and I dropped her off at her apartment and spent the rest of the evening watching news coverage of the election results. I'm afraid I didn't do any cleaning, yesterday, but, that's OK.
Today, in the morning, I picked several oranges from the tree for my daughter to take back with her and packaged some other items for her to take back - chicken curry (frozen), the rest of the coconut roti I had made, some leftover boiled mung beans, etc.
I dropped her off at the airport around 11:30 a.m. and went to the pharmacy to pick up two medication refills that were ready. I had a $2.00 Extra Care Bucks coupon and my daughter's favorite cereal was on sale for $1.99 per box, so, I got a box of free cereal to have on hand for her next visit.
After that, I went to the dollar store to stock up on a few items, including sandwich bags, trash bin liners, baking soda, and another container of bleach as I had come to the end of my container of bleach. I also bought some bananas, a bag of mixed salad, two cans of peach slices in light syrup, and a jar of relish since I had come to the end of the jar of relish I had in the fridge. My bill came to under $24, but, I haven't separated out the groceries from the household items, yet. Grocery shopping is usually on my Tuesday's To Do list, but, I did it today, instead.
My daughter called me in the afternoon to let me know that she arrived safely. I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening watching news, practicing the piano, checking on my neighbor T, and crocheting. I didn't do any cleaning, today, either! I will need to catch up on the cleaning tomorrow and on Friday!
Today, I am grateful for:
- My daughter had a safe flight and subway and bus ride back
- I was able to send some food, including fresh oranges, back with her
- She had no difficulties getting through airport security with all her food
- I got my medication refills without any problems
- A restful evening
Today's joyful activity was spending time in the morning with my daughter before she had to leave.

I did, Nil. It was good to have her home for a visit. I am crocheting a rag rug. It's almost done; I'll post a picture, soon.
DeleteYour daughter is safely returned to her house with a birthday well celebrated, cooked food and fresh oranges to last a while, and mended clothing. You have more great memories and a more relaxed and rejuvenated few days from your cleaning routine. It sounds like you both had a great (but busy) weekend together.
ReplyDeleteYes; plus a few "new to her" sweaters from my closet, in addition to her mended items. :) It was a busy weekend, wasn't it? Busier for her because she did things with her friends on a couple of days while I relaxed at home. But, we enjoyed our time together.

Our primary isn't until the end of April. Not knowing what will happen with the corona virus I think I will vote via mail in ballet for the first time.
The local town hall just sent something in the mail about doing so and it sounds like a good idea this year for sure.
My daughter is pretty excited about being asked to be maid of honor. So far, she's been a flower girl (twice) and a bridesmaid (once).
DeleteI think that voting by mail is a very good way to go about it. In fact, I might do that in the general election, later this year.

ReplyDeleteI did a little more in the kitchen yesterday, cleaned and reorganized the top two shelves in the pantry. I relocated one item to the bottom of the china cabinet. It is an old jelly mould, glass oval with dimples at the bottom and I remember my mother putting sponge fingers around the sides one time.
