Monday: Daughter Goes Back

Daughter and I had a relaxed morning,  Then, she finished packing her bags and I packed up the last of the glass noodles for her to take back, along with the rest of the bagels.  That way, she doesn't have to cook anything for dinner and she'll have something to take for her breakfast and lunch, tomorrow.

Her flight was at 2:30 p.m., with boarding starting at 2:00 p.m.  So, I dropped her off at the airport by 1:00 p.m., since she needs to be at the airport one hour before boarding.  It was 100F, outside, at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon; 88F inside the house.  After I came home, I had lunch (daughter ate before she left).

Later in the afternoon, I took a nap.  I think the hot weather makes me sleepy!  I woke up once, when my cousin V called and, again, when daughter called to say she landed.  Then, I slept again, until daughter called to say she got to her apartment.

After I woke up from my nap and had a cup of tea, I watched the evening news, wrote to a friend, emptied the waste baskets, cleaned the litter box, took the trash out and the big trash cans to the curb for pick up, tomorrow, put water to the front garden (with the garden hose), watered the back yard (with the sprinklers), did a load of laundry (mostly towels), had dinner, emptied the dishwasher, washed today's dishes by hand, and video chatted with daughter.  She said she decided not to go to her acrobatics class as she was feeling a little queasy.  She wasn't sure why she felt queasy, but I think she might have been tired from all the activity of the recent days and she probably walked the couple of miles from the subway station to her apartment instead of waiting for the bus, too; I'm glad she decided not to go for acrobatics and took it easy this evening.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Daughter had a safe flight and subway ride back
- She had a wonderful time at the Anime Expo
- We had a good visit, even though we didn't spend a lot of time together on this visit
- It was slightly cooler today
- Afternoon naps

Tuesday's To Do List:
- Go to the office
- Bring in the trash cans
- Put away the dried laundry from Monday
- Wash one of the knitted blankets
- Call the billing office
- Call the doctor's office to schedule the endoscopy/colonoscopy

In addition, I need to call to schedule the car for a service, but that can be done later in the week.

How was your Monday?  Did you have a good day?

  1. Glad to hear that your daughter arrived home safe and sound. I hope the queasiness is down to tiredness and heat, and that she hasn't picked up a bug.

My Monday was busy with runs to the skip, which I didn't finish so need to do some more today. It's exhausting work in this hot weather!

    1. Thank you, Eileen. I'm glad she got home safely, but, apparently, she's running a low grade fever of 100F. So, maybe she did catch a bug - quite possible with all those people gathered in one space! I suggested she took the day off from work and rested, which is what she decided to do. Hopefully, she'll feel better by tomorrow.

Yes, best to run errands in the early mornings or late in the evenings, when it is cooler. Are the runs to the skip something you can postpone until it cools off a bit?

  2. I don't think I would want to do anything in weather that hot. We had temperatures like that last week, but I had air conditioning at work and at home. Hope you have a break in the weather soon.

    1. The trick is to do things either early in the morning or late in the evening (night, really) when it is cooler. But, today is much cooler - only 84F when I left in the morning to go to the office; highs today are supposed to be in the mid 90s.

  3. I'm glad your Daughter got home safely and without any delays. Is it very hot in Berkeley as well? I hope she feels better today.

    1. Thank you, Nathalie. Berkeley is much cooler - yesterday's highs were only in the upper 70s.

Unfortunately, my daughter developed a low grade fever (100F), late last night and she still had the fever this morning. I suggested she took the day off work and stay at home, today; she texted me to say she called in sick. I guess she caught a bug either at the Anime Expo or on the plane. :(

I'm sure the time will fly by until her next visit. X

    1. Thank you, Jules. Yes, she went back safely, but, apparently she caught a bug and is running a fever. :( She called in sick and took the day off work, today. I hope she feels better, soon.

Yes, the time will pass quickly - she'll be back in 10 days for my cousin's son's wedding! She'll be home for a week, that visit, so she can attend my friend's daughter's wedding the next weekend.

  5. Hot weather has the same effect on me, which is needing an afternoon nap. It must have done you a world of good because you got a lot of work accomplished inside and out. These 3-day weekends seem to do you well. Just imagine what your retirement will look like. Ha.

    1. Afternoon naps are essential when it is so hot, Susan. It's a good way to conserve energy!

I do like my 3-day weekends. A long time ago, I used to work 10 hour days, 4 days a week, and get a day off every week, so I had a 3-day weekend, every week. The only problem with that was, I'd postpone projects thinking I had more time to get to them. My daughter is afraid that that's what's going to happen when I retire! That I'll say, "Oh, I can do it tomorrow"! LOL!
