| Clouds and Contrails |
It was a lovely warm summer day on Wednesday. We went up to 95F. I woke up at 8:00 a.m. and tended to the chickens, letting them out of their inner coop into the the bigger enclosure and giving them their food crumbles. They have been with us for just over four weeks (it was four weeks on Tuesday). One of the garden cats, little Mochi, has taken to following me to the shed where I keep the chicken feed and waiting for me to go back to the house where I give the garden cats their morning kibble.

M was here in the early afternoon to tend to the garden. He uprooted the dead avocado tree, watered the garden, and gifted us with an onion he had grown in his garden.

I really liked the way the clouds looked with and without the contrails.
On Wednesday, I was grateful for:
- The chickens laying eggs
- M's help with the garden
- The availability of medications and insurance
- Daughter doing the hard work of keeping the chicken coop clean and maintained
- Library services
Wednesday's joyful activities included watching the chickens while daughter put them in the coop for the night. They have started climbing up on daughter's shoulders and Henny Penny even climbed up on her head, the day before!
Plans for Thursday include receiving the groceries and maybe going to the discount grocery store to see if they have the pork chops on sale.
How was your Wednesday? What are your plans for Thursday?

Clouds are so beautiful. I'm sitting in the garden, having just had breakfast outside. It is cooler today, after an amazing thunderstorm and cloudburst last night. Fortunately it did not stop the neighbourhood BBQ being a success.
ReplyDeleteIt is frustrating to go to a particular store for a special offer only to find they do not have it! And if you think "well I am in here, I might as well look round" and you buy things you don't really want at prices which are not as good
I'm glad it is cooler for you, Angela; you've had some unusually hot weather this summer, haven't you? Glad you got some rain, too.
DeleteYes, it is frustrating to go to a store for a special offer and not find it! Especially since I rarely shop in person, now, since I get the majority of my groceries delivered. I do admit to being tempted to look around, but, I didn't! Had I looked around, I'm sure I would have found lots of things to buy! :D
Absolutely gorgeous sky photos, dear friend. 💙 Here in Montreal the temperature has thankfully become a bit cooler and less humid. A huge joy 😊 and relief.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. I thought the clouds and the contrails looked so interesting together.
DeleteI'm glad it has cooled down a bit for you over there. It usually gets really hot at the end of August, beginning of September for us. I don't mind; I prefer hot to cold. :)
I do like the cloud and contrail pictures! I wonder if you get contrails often there, with it being so dry and little moisture in the air.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celie. I live fairly close to an airport, so, I get to see the contrails more clearly, I think, as they are just taking off or coming in. :)
DeleteSuch interesting feathery clouds. I think it would hurt to a chicken’s feet on your head. Does it bother your daughter?
ReplyDeleteThank you, June. My daughter claims the chickens' feet don't bother her, although she does have some scratches on her arms from them trying to perch on her! Then, again, we both got scratched up by Dancer, too. :)
DeleteIt sounds like the chickens are providing entertainment as well as eggs. Mochi will have to be careful or the chickens will chase her off!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the pork chop sale was just bait to get you into the door. I know that happens sometimes.
The cloud pictures are beautiful and feel like summer.
The chickens are definitely providing entertainment as well as eggs, Lyssa. I think Mochi wants to make friends with the chickens. I remember how Chicken Little bossed the garden cats. 😊
DeleteI was able to get the pork chops delivered today! I did a whole new post about it! I guess I was either looking in the wrong display case or the store just didn't have any left on that particular day and time.
Thank you, Lyssa; glad you liked the cloud pictures. We've a clear blue sky, today.
Lovely deep blue sky.
ReplyDeleteThat's happened to me before, going shopping for some particular thing and finding it sold out. I remember once I had a voucher for 15% off dried mango. I tried two branches but no joy. I love that stuff but only buy it occasionally as it is a bit of a. luxury for me, and I finish a bag in no time!
I managed to get the pork chops the next day, Lady Ella, and found out that I could get them delivered, too! Some of the ethnic stores here have a spicy dried mango with chili, which is delicious! I buy it sometimes and then can't stop eating it! :D
DeleteThe clouds look so pretty! X
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty, aren't they? I love to look at the different clouds, although I don't quite know the different types of clouds. :)
