The First Tomato Sighting
I'm still in the garden! Still in the stonery, too! There are about three or four self-sown tomato plants growing in the stonery and guess what I saw the other day?! Yes, the first little tomato has been sighted! It's tiny, less than one inch in diameter, but, it's good to see the first tomato! I'm hopeful that it will be joined by other baby tomatoes, soon, and they will all grow and ripen.

New Leaves on the Bay Laurel
There are new leaves on the bay laurel tree that M rescued from another client's garden and transplanted in mine in January. It had been growing in a container in that client's garden and when the container broke, the client apparently didn't want it planted in another container or in the ground and had told M to get rid of it. He texted me to ask if I would be willing to take it and I said yes! I am taking the fact that it has new leaves as an indication that the transplanting was successful and the tree is growing.

Feijoa (Pineapple Guava) Flowers
The feijoa (pineapple guava) tree is full of flowers, too. I am hoping that we will get more feijoa fruit this year than we got last year. Last year, the tree was covered with flowers, but, there were only about a dozen fruit in total. They were delicious, though, and I was thankful to have them.
Daughter watered the garden plants on Sunday and M will be here to water them on Wednesday.
I am grateful for:
- My garden
- Baby tomatoes
- New bay leaves
- Flowers on the fruit trees
- Water for the garden
My joyful activities have included spending time in the garden; there seems to be something new to see almost daily.
Are you starting to see anything new in your garden? Or are you still waiting for spring to arrive?

Your garden does sound exciting. Do you know what kind of tomatoes are growing?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anonymous. I believe they are Berkeley Tie Dye tomatoes.
DeleteI am anonymous. I am on a tablet I don’t normally use and keep forgetting to sign in for a comment.
DeleteThank you for clarifying that! LOL. I hope you are able to sign in, next time. :D
DeleteI have a little bay in my front garden. So useful to be able to grab a leaf or two when I'm cooking
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful, Angela. Do you have it growing in the ground or in a planter?
DeleteI noticed today that the irises are just peeking out of the ground in my back garden. They are the first plants to come up. Spring has finally made it here! I hope you get lots more tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteYay! Irises! Glad that spring has finally arrived! Thank you, Celie; I'm looking forward to my tomato harvest!
DeleteI'm glad your bay laurel is thriving. Our CBC gardening phone-in expert loves it when people rescue plants! The flowers on the Feijoa are very pretty, the red stamens show up well.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. I might be receiving some rescued azaleas, too! The feijoa flowers are pretty, aren't they? The petals are edible with a spongy texture and the birds love them!
DeleteIt's wonderful to see new life emerging in the garden. Not much to see here, but there are small buds appearing on the apple trees. X
ReplyDeleteIt is exciting to see the changes in the garden and elsewhere, isn't it? The apple tree I grew from a seed is leafing out but it hasn't produced any flowers yet.
DeleteReally beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. Spring is probably the best time for my garden. It gets too hot and dry in the summer.
DeleteEverything is looking so lovely. Glad you were able to rescue the plant and it is doing well!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. I seem to be acquiring quite a few recued plants! LOL.
DeleteHooray for the tomatoes and the beautiful Guavas!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kezzie. :)
