On Sunday, I ordered groceries and picked up the items in the late afternoon. I didn't need a lot of groceries, this time, other than sandwich bread, milk, half and half for my daughter's coffee, some produce, and a couple of items that were suitable for my new reduced salt diet and which were on sale.
I also bought a box of fabric softener/dryer sheets since I was coming to the end of my current box and there was a digital coupon for them; that's not a part of my grocery budget, so, will be deducted from my total.
I had ordered a jar of yeast, but, the store apparently didn't have any. I had qualified for free pick up with the jar of yeast; without the yeast, my total came below the free pick up minimum, but, I was not charged a pick up fee.
Daughter put away the groceries for me, so I don't have a picture, but, here is the receipt:
Order Summary
Item Details
12 Items
Total spent = $34.38
Amount spent on non-grocery item (dryer sheets) and sales tax on them = $4.99 + $.49 = $ 5.48
Adjusted Total Spent = $34.38 - $5.48 = $28.90
Here are the links for the previous January grocery shopping, if anyone is interested:
Jauary Grocery Shopping Part 1
January Grocery Shopping Part 2
My January grocery budget (for food items only for two people) = $250
Spent to date = $65.05 + $98.63 + $28.90 = 192.58
Balance left in the budget = $250 - $192.58 = $57.42
I am pleased with my spending on groceries so far this month.
I am not going to do a meal plan this week as we will probably eat from what's already prepared and kept in the fridge.
How is your January grocery shopping coming along? Are you finding good deals at your grocery stores?
Looks like you will be within budget this month, all the while eating well.
ReplyDeleteThank you, June. I've been looking at this week's grocery flyers (prices effective Wednesday) and planning what I want to buy with the rest of the grocery budget! I think I might splash out on some beef (chuck roast on sale for $6.99/lb. which is the lowest it's been in quite a while). :D
DeleteThis month is almost over, so you probably have the last $57 to play with or carry over, and February is a short month anyway so it all looks good!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. I probably won't need groceries, but, I might buy some items that are going on sale effective Wednesday. I would like to set aside some of this month's budget to carry over for stocking up, later on. :)
DeleteMi sembra proprio che sei in linea con le spese, nonostante i prezzi continuino ad aumentare.
ReplyDeleteAlmeno qui da noi è così.
Andare in farmacia ad esempio sta diventando un lusso
Stefania said, per Google translate: It seems to me that you're managing your expenses well, despite prices continuing to rise.
DeleteAt least that's the case here.
Going to the pharmacy, for example, is becoming a luxury.
Thank you, Stefania; yes, prices are continuing to rise here, too, but, I try my best to shop the sales and keep my spending within budget. The cost of medications are on the rise, too, and some people are finding it difficult to afford their medications, depending on their health insurance coverage and how much their insurance will pay and how much the individual has to pay.
This is wonderful. Aren't coupons and sales great?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. Coupons and sales are wonderful! They certainly help stretch one's grocery budget. :)
DeleteWell done with the shopping!
ReplyDeleteI had husband take me on Monday and ended up buying enough to get us through the week as the roads are horrible and I'm not going out. It cost a bit more, but I feel good knowing that we have plenty of food in stock and I don't have to go out!
Thank you, Sharon. I'm glad your husband was able to take you shopping and you bought enough to last you through the winter storms. It might have cost more, but, maybe it will even out when you look at the averages for the month. :)
DeleteGood price on that nice big box of dryer sheets.
ReplyDeleteAnd Very good on the January budget for you. Good job.
I ended up over! Can you believe it? With all the snow and bad weather I was in stocking up mode. I got some good deals.
But still.
Thank you, Debra. I was happy with the price on the dryer sheets. I was happy with my January spending, too. I carried over the balance to February and will use it for stocking up.
DeleteI'm sorry you went over budget in January, but, you needed to stock up in preparation for the winter storms. It will even out over the year. I'm glad you got some good deals, though. :)
