Well, I might have gone off the plan just a little bit, but, it worked out well enough, I think.

Moving on to Week 3 (July 14 - 20):

I checked my freezer and I am nearing the end of the chicken and meat I had bought and frozen.  I will be on the look out for sales on chicken and meat.  I have bread, vegetables, and fruit in the fridge.  Plus plenty of eggs.  But, I might need to buy some milk.

In any case, the upcoming week's meal plan is based on what I have on hand:

Brunches: Egg salad sandwiches; Tuna salad sandwiches; Uppuma (Indian style cream of wheat), fruit salad and/or yogurt; salads  waffles or pancakes?

Dinners: Yellow rice, chicken curry, pappadum, tomato chutney; Breakfast for dinner (scrambled eggs, ham, toast or fried potatoes), ham fried rice, ramen noodles with chicken and vegetables, hamburger patty with oven baked potato wedges and salad, Leftovers and/or something different.

How about you?  Are you meal planning this week?

    1. Thank you, Linda. Some weeks, the meal planning works out well. Other weeks, I tend to go off the plan, but, that is fine, too. :)

  2. I have just tidied up the fridge, and made a freezer inventory. The last 3 weeks have seen lots of guests coming for meals, and there were a few pots of leftovers needing to be dealt with.

    1. Sounds like you are on top of things, Angela. I'm sure you'll find ways to use up those leftovers. :)

  3. This week will feature heavily in squash and zucchini because that is what we have from the garden. Tonight will be continental zucchini, a childhood favorite of my husband.

    1. It's always a pleasure to eat what you've grown and picked from the garden, isn't it? I have some squash (not zucchini) growing in the garden, myself, but, they are not yet ready to be picked. Continental zucchini sounds interesting; maybe you'll share your recipe?

  4. I always say I am basing my meal plan on what I have, but then I cherry pick the stores each week and things change. I need to stop!
I have not been to the store near me that sell the bolillo rolls. We really like them and I should go pick some up.

    1. I, too, start off based on what I have and then, the grocery ads become available on Tuesday and the new deals go into effect on Wednesday; I look at the deals and I am often tempted to grocery shop!

  5. I'm just getting back into the swing of cooking after a blissful 4 days off! The weather is very hot so I'm tending to avoid the oven, but there is always the air fryer to fall back on. Tonight will be sausages, pan fried, and there will be two left over which will find their way into another meal. I'm going to be looking for salmon on special midweek, if there is any.

    1. I'm sure it must be hard to get back to meal planning and cooking after being off for four days. I do a lot of my cooking on the stove top and the oven stays off for days on end; I might use the toaster oven if I need do, though. I'm glad you have the air fryer; I don't have one, but, my daughter does and she's planning to bring hers down when she comes home. :) I hope you find salmon on special this week.

  6. It doesn't matter if you go off plan. I don't even have a plan this week. 😁
