July Week 1 Meal Plan

Salad with Sauteed Chicken and Garlic Bread

June's Week 4 Meal Plan didn't work out quite as planned since I bought and cooked salmon for a celebratory dinner on Wednesday when daughter came home for a visit.  We had leftovers from that for a couple of meals during the rest of the week and daughter took the last piece of leftover salmon with her when she returned to her apartment.  I also made sauteed chicken which we had with bread rolls and in a salad.  We had lunch out on Saturday at the birthday party and we were told to take plates of food home because they had bought too much, so, there were leftovers from that for a couple of meals.  In addition, we bought Chinese food for Sunday's lunch.  I also didn't keep a proper record of what we had and I don't remember!  Suffice it to say that we didn't go hungry!

So, I'm just going to move on to July!  I start out the week with leftovers in the fridge which must be finished.

July Week 1 Meal Plan Options:

Brunches: Milkrice with chicken curry (Tuesday, July 1), leftover milkrice and chicken curry (Wednesday), French toast (there's milk that must be finished); scrambled eggs and fried potatoes, salad with  leftover sauteed chicken, tuna salad sandwiches

Dinners:  Spicy beef stir fry with rice and broccoli and/or cucumber salad;  Hamburger/cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and salad;  Fried rice; Leftovers

Snacks/Desserts: Blueberry yogurt loaf cake (yes, there's still a couple of slices left); yogurt and fruit or treacle; fresh fruit; maybe bread pudding?

We shall see how this turns out!  Anyone else meal planning this week?

  1. Your salad 🥗 looks scrumptious 😋 I don't meal plan, it usually depends on what is on sale at the grocery or fruit store and what I am in the mood for. This is especially the case in the summer when it is very hot. I live alone so it's only for myself I cook for.

    1. Thank you, Linda. I don't always stick to my meal plans, but, it helps me to know what options I have. :)

  2. We're still regrouping after our trip, but we do need some meal planning as we have an empty fridge.

  3. Not allowed garlic bread in our house! Garlic has to be sneaked into recipes via garlic powder and there are no complaints. Actually I have been buying garlic flavoured naan bread, which hasn't been noticed, so maybe I could try serving some garlic bread, as long as it isn't heated in the oven with garlic smells emanating!

    1. Good luck sneaking in the garlic bread! Maybe have it on a day when no one else is at home and you can air out the house before anyone returns home. :)

  4. Your food always looks so lovely. I'm doing okay with the meal planning. I'm not enjoying turning on the oven though so I'm struggling a bit. I haven't given in and just ordered something so I count that as a plus

    1. Thank you, Sharon. Well done with the meal planning. Summer is not the time to turn on the oven, is it? I have a small toaster oven and I use that in the summer for things like oven fries, warming up the garlic bread, etc. Otherwise, I do a lot of cooking on the stove top. Do you have a slow cooker? They are supposed to be good to use in the summer without warming up the rest of the kitchen; I have a really old "crock pot" (from 1978l avocado green, too!), but, I don't use it that much because it doesn't have a removable liner and that makes it hard to wash it!

  5. I will be writing my meal plan tomorrow, before I do the weekly shop. I have been eating well recently, but I really need to cut back on the amount of time I'm spending in the kitchen. X

    1. I hope you are able to include some quick meals in your meal plan. Maybe some "cook once and eat twice" type of meals or things that are quick to assemble with minimal prep work and cooking.

    1. Meal planning is important when one is following a weight loss diet, isn't it? I usually plan my meals around bargains, either what's on offer that week or things I've bought on offer and frozen for later use.
