This was my July Week 1 Meal Plan/Options:

Snacks/Desserts: Blueberry yogurt loaf cake (yes, there's still a couple of slices left); yogurt and fruit or treacle; fresh fruit✓

And here's how that turned out (I kept an on-going record all week):

Friday:
Brunch: Scrambled egg and baked beans, a piece of mango, coconut water:

Friday Brunch

Dinner:  Cheeseburger (no bun), toaster oven baked sweet potato "fries", cucumber slices
Snacks/desserts: Plum. cereal

Saturday:
Brunch: Not Quite Kedgeree (Spiced rice, flaked salmon, scrambled egg because I don't much care for hard boiled eggs)

Not Quite Kedgeree
(Spiced Rice, Flaked Salmon, Scrambled Egg)

Dinner:  Pita bread and beef stir fry

Pita and Spicy Beef Stir Fry

Snacks/desserts: Mango

Sunday:
Brunch:  Pita bread and beef (same as Saturday's dinner)
Dinner: Sauteed chicken sandwich
Snacks/desserts: Plums

I didn't quite keep to the meal plan for one reason or another, but, I think it worked out well enough.   I needed to use up quite a few leftovers and that's what I tried to do.

Moving on to July Week 2.  I am trying to avoid grocery shopping this week, too.  I am also not wanting to cook much.  So, I am going for fairly easy meals based on what I have on hand:

Brunches: Pita bread and spicy beef stir fry (Monday); French toast or pancakes; peanut butter toast; egg salad or tuna salad sandwiches; leftovers

Dinners: Burrito (Monday); Breakfast for Dinner (scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, baked beans); ramen noodles with shredded chicken and vegetables; sandwiches; leftovers

Snacks/Desserts: Fresh fruit; yogurt and fruit or treacle; crackers and peanut butter; granola bars

Or, of course, something different as the mood strikes!  LOL.

Are you making a meal plan this week?

  1. Sweet potato fries look yummy. I should buy SPs and make some. I used my air fryer to roast peeled chunks of a couple of nondescript potatoes, after coating them with a little oil and spices, and they turned out well.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I baked them in the toaster oven, like you, coating them in a little oil and adding spices (garlic powder, salt, etc.), but, they didn't crisp up. My daughter said that they get crispier in an air fryer. I don't have one, but, she'll bring hers down when she comes home and then, I can try making them in the air fryer.

  3. I laugh because I make a meal plan every week and rarely keep it.
Like you I say I am not going to the grocery store and just use things from home, but today I went to our local produce stand, then to the grocery store to get BOGO watermelon. Even worse it is 11:30 pm here now and just before reading your post I was looking at the coming week's grocery ads.

    1. We make meal plan options. :)
I think going to the local produce stand to buy fresh items is a good way to support your local farmers.
I, too, took a quick look at this week's grocery ads, today. There isn't anything I really need, but, it's good to be informed, isn't it? :)

  4. I think you do a good job with variety and using what you have. But I think you would be good with that whether or not you made a meal plan. Do you ever consider not making one?

    1. Thank you, June. Yes, there are times when I don't meal plan. In fact, I didn't meal plan on a regular basis for several years. Back then, I would cook a chicken curry and a beef curry or stir fry every week and alternate those two for lunches and dinners. And when I'd get tired of having the same thing, I'd get some fast food or get take out once or twice a week.
Having a meal plan of sorts helps me with deciding what I want to eat on a given day. I often go off the plan because I might not feel like cooking on a given day or the planned meal does not appeal (or I prepare too much food and I have leftovers for the rest of the week).

  5. A nice variety of meals. I've managed to stick to my plan this week. Today, I was organised enough to make a curry in the slow cooker, which means we can have the leftovers for dinner tomorrow :)

    1. I have just seen your meal plan and the planned meals all sound very delicious! You put more effort into making your meals than I do, I think. I haven't tried any new recipes in a while; but, maybe I need to try changing things up a bit more.

  7. I don't meal plan but I should. I have a cupboard of stuff to use up!

    1. I often veer from my meal plan, but, the meal plan is there should I need it. Maybe challenge yourself to come up with at least three meals based on what you have in your cupboard for this coming week?
