June 17 Groceries |
I did a small grocery shopping trip on Tuesday, June 17. The Armenian store was having a one day only sale of organic strawberries for $0.99/lb. That is a very good price for strawberries, in my opinion, even if they weren't organic, and as soon as the grocery ad came out, I decided I would buy some. That was before I saw the news footage of federal agents chasing migrant workers down strawberry fields, last week. Makes me wonder if we will ever see strawberries on sale at this price from now on. I decided to buy five containers of strawberries with plans to freeze some of it for smoothies, etc.
In addition to the strawberries, I bought two cans of coconut water, bread rolls, and pita bread. I spent $12.61

How about you? Are you finding good deals at the grocery store?
That is an excellent price for strawberries whether they are organic or not, for sure! You did very well! I love it when grocery stores have sales, I do the same as yourself, taking advantage of the lower prices. The only time I do not buy something on sale is if it doesn't look appealing. But fortunately this doesn't happen often.
ReplyDeleteThere is a grocery store a few blocks away from where I live. I can walk there but if it is very hot and humid I will take the bus! This grocery store delivers, too, which for me is perfect, because I don't have a car. As well, they charge just $2 for delivery for senior citizens, like myself. They charge $4 for everyone else who is not a senior. $2 is great, because I often do a large order between $80 and $120, depending on how much, and what I need. And I live in a 6th floor apartment, so the delivery man actually comes right up in the elevator with my groceries and puts it right in my apartment in the reusable bags I bring every time I go shopping.
It was a good price for the strawberries, wasn't it? I usually buy items on sale if they are things I want or know I can use, later.
DeleteIt's good to have a grocery store within walking distance, but the delivery service at your grocery store sounds good to me! I'd happily pay $2 for delivery! Especially if they bring it up to the apartment. :)
That's such a great price for strawberries. I would never be able to get them so cheaply here. X
ReplyDeleteI was very happy to see the strawberries at that price, Jules, and I was able to get them quite fresh as the store clerk was just taking them out of the big boxes and putting them out on the shelf. I had some after my dinner, last night and they were quite delicious.
DeleteI bought strawberries today from a local farm, at $6.00 a pound. I bought 3 pounds. I can by packaged cheaper at the grocery, but they are trucked in underripe (probably from California!). These are a treat, once a year only, and then they're gone. One of my favorite fruits.
ReplyDeleteStrawberries from a local farm would be fresh and delicious, I'm sure. Definitely a treat, not to mention support for the local farmers. :)
DeleteI have one tiny strawberry plant in the garden which somehow survived the winter. Thus far it has yielded just four berries! 🍓🍓🍓🍓but they were very tasty
ReplyDeleteYour own, homegrown strawberries are the best, aren't they? I have picked two strawberries from my own plant, so far, this year, and today, I noticed that two more were ripe. Got to pick them before the birds do!
Delete(By the way, there was another comment from you with just the four strawberry emojis, but, I deleted that; just wanted you to know.)
I got $2 off a box of cereal yesterday, and I plan to get another next time I am in the store.
ReplyDeleteThat was a good deal, Bushlady. Well done! I hope you are able to get another $2 off your next box of cereal, too. :)
DeleteYes, I find it's a matter of taking the time to look for good deals. I have to feel restful enough; when I'm kind of stressed I find it harder to be frugal.
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole, I get weekly grocery ads sent to me so it's easy to take a quick look at the ads at the stores I usually go to. If I don't get the paper ads, I can find the deals on the store websites. But, you are right; sometimes, when we are pressed for time or under stress, then, it becomes necessary to just buy what is needed and not comparison shop.
