Friday

Chrysanthemum

November's Flower of the Month is Chrysanthemum.  The purple ones that M rescued and planted in my garden are blooming.

Purple Chrysanthemums

On Friday, I went to my appointment with the oncology nurse practitioner.  My appointment was at 1:00 p.m. and I left the house just before noon to get to the clinic on time.  I had to wait for some time before I was seen and I didn't leave the clinic until 2:40 p.m.  Parking came to $12.00

The drive home was done in bumper to bumper traffic and took over an hour.  I picked up a pizza ($7.65) on the way home and got home around 4:00 p.m.  Daughter and I had pizza for our brunch when I got home.

M was here a bit later to tend to the garden.  We rearranged the pavers a couple of times until I was satisfied.  It was too dark to take a picture by the time he finished, but, I think the arrangement will work better, now.

After tea, I watched the news and then, I took a nap on the sofa!

Dinner was leftover pizza.

On Friday, I was grateful for:
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- Health insurance
- Access to medical care
- M's help with the garden
- Having my daughter home

Friday's joyful activity was spending time chatting with my daughter.

Plans for Saturday include doing laundry and some housework.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. Your trip to the doctor and back doesn't sound like any fun. I guess the pizza was the reward at the end (and having your daughter at home to greet you.)

    1. The drive and the wait at the clinic tired me out! The pizza was a planned treat and it meant that I didn't have to warm up any leftovers after I got home. Having my daughter at home to greet me was a bonus! :D

  2. Those Chrysanthemums are gorgeous.
My plans for the weekend are taking things easy, although there is still the housework to catch up on. I think I'll try and crochet some more of the blanket as well. Xx

    1. Thank you, Stefania. I like to take a moment to reflect on what I'm grateful for, each day. It's too easy to complain about what went wrong and then, we end up feeling bad; I'd much rather focus on what was good. :)

  4. Hi Bless. You always seem to have a busy day when you have your appointments, yet you still come home to such a nice meal (and tea!). Glad your daughter is home to visit. Your pavers look nice and will see the finished product. andrea

    1. Hi Andrea. Yes, the days with appointments downtown tend to be busy! There were leftovers at home, but, the pizza was a treat my daughter and I looked forward to. I'm enjoying my daughter's visit home. Thank you; I'll post a picture of the pavers in what I hope will be their final configuration, soon. :)

  5. I wonder why the traffic was so heavy at that time. Slow traffic can be really tiring. Is it school pick-up time? Hope your results will all be in order.

    1. L.A. traffic is notorious, especially to and from downtown. I really don't know why I encountered so much traffic going to downtown, but, coming back, it was the start of the evening commute, which starts from about 2:30 p.m. and goes on until around 7:00 p.m. :) The morning commute time starts from before 6:00 a.m. and goes on until about 9:00 a.m., at least. My blood test results were normal for the most part (one thing was above normal by 0.5, which was probably due to one of the medications I'm taking). The bone density scan showed continued bone loss, but, again, it will get better once I'm off one of the medications I'm taking. :)

  7. A very lovely chrysanthemum. How fortunate that M rescued it! That was a long drive time, so pizza and a nap were good rewards!

    1. Thank you, Celie. Yes, I'm very glad that M rescued those plants. It was a long drive time, wasn't it? Pizza and a nap afterwards felt good. :)

  8. When you have bumper to bumper traffic like that, you must be thankful that you are retired and no longer have to commute to work!

    1. Yes, indeed, Bushlady. Although, I sort of got used to that long commute to work and back when I had to do it. But, these days, I'm glad I don't have to drive to downtown and back on a daily basis!

  10. Logistically that wasn't the best doctor trip was it?
I'm sure the pizza and the nap made it all a distant memory.
I remember when M put those chrysanthemums in. Haven't they made themselves right at home. And a stunning color too. Really pretty.

    1. For some reason, visits to this particular clinic seem to take forever! The pizza and the nap really helped. :)
Some of the chrysanthemum plants died over the summer, but, those that survived are doing well. :)
