Wednesday

Tea for Two!

Mama Cat and Chicken Little have started lining up on the steps every evening, around 4:30 p.m. or so.  They sit and wait until I give them a cup or so of kibble.  Patches comes by, later, after she checks to make sure that Mama Cat has gone away and the coast is clear!  She seems to prefer the canned food to the kibble, but, I tell her that she needs to eat whatever is given!  The canned cat food is a treat, not an everyday meal!

It was a sunny and warm (high of 77F) day, today.  M was here in the late morning to tend to the garden.  He brought me a new plant from his garden, a native plant known as hummingbird sage  (Salvia spathacea).  We planted it in the front garden, under the eucalyptus tree.  It's supposed to be drought tolerant, once established.

I spent a fairly relaxed day, on Wednesday, crocheting and watching some online videos.  Later, I watched the evening news, chatted with friend R, and video chatted with my daughter.

Brunch was a scrambled egg, a slice of ham, and a potato cut up in cubes and fried, with a little diced bell pepper added to it.  Then, I wasn't very hungry for dinner, so I had tuna salad on crackers for dinner.

Today, I was grateful for:

- Another sunny and warm day
- M helping me with the garden and
- Bringing me more plants from his garden
- Being able to video chat with my daughter
- A relaxed day

Today's joyful activity was crocheting.

Plans for Thursday include some weeding in the garden and more crocheting.

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

    1. They do make me smile although I wish they'd poop somewhere else other than my garden!

  3. I love that the locals have identified 4:30 as the time the backyard cafe opens for dinner. 😊
I hadn’t heard of hummingbird sage before. Is it an edible herb or ornamental? It’s always exciting to add a new plant to the garden.
Wednesday was a little cool and drizzly, and today has started the same. I cooked, cleaned a bit, and read. 😊

    1. Mama Cat gets breakfast, too; sometimes, the chicken is there, but, often, it comes over later in the day. It's the neighbor's chicken but, seems to spend most of its day in my garden!
The hummingbird sage is grown mostly as an ornamental groundcover, but, according to one foraging site online, it is edible; both leaves and flowers. I haven't tried eating it, though!
Sounds like you've had a good day, even if cool and drizzly. One of my cousins is in NY, right now, to attend her grandson's First Holy Communion. :)

  5. You are very kind to make sure the critters in your yard are fed. I watch all the chipmunks who roam in my yard, but I don't dare feed them. I would be afraid they would invite more friends here!

    1. I've a friend who feeds the chipmunks in her yard, and, every so often, one of them makes its way into the house! I haven't seen any chipmunks in my yard, but, I'm noticing more squirrels!

    1. Thank you, Celie. Patches was here, earlier, today. She sits on the mat and waits, then, as soon as she sees me, she goes up on her hind legs and scratches at the door! She received a can of soft food as well as kibbles, today. Then, Mama Cat came over and chased her away!

    1. That chicken thinks my garden is its garden! When I walk towards the back corner by the wall, where it tends to spend its time, it'll squawk at me and fly up to the wall, then strut up and down the wall, vocalizing, as if to complain that I was invading its space! LOL!

  8. I love the photo of Mama Cat and Chicken Little eating together. So funny that Patches is too snooty to join them and comes over later, wanting her own menu!

    1. Mama Cat and Chicken Little are friends, I guess. Patches isn't snooty, I'm sure she'd love to join the buffet, but, she's scared of Mama Cat, who chases her away. So, she waits until Mama Cat is sleeping, or something, to come up to the door. But, she will ignore the kibble to see if I'll give her some canned food!

Nothing wrong with their inner-clock is there? They know when dinner time is that's for sure.
