| New Crocheted Blanket |
The blanket I was crocheting has been completed. It measures 42 inches by 54 inches, which is a good size for a lap blanket, I think.
The majority of the squares were done using yarn that was in my daughter's yarn stash, with her approval. I knew it would be rather random, but, I tried to bring some uniformity to it by crocheting the central motif in each square with white yarn and crocheting a border around each square with cream colored yarn. Except, I ran out of the cream colored yarn for two of the squares (and a corner of one other square) and the store didn't have anymore of it, so, I switched to white yarn. But, I think it is OK.
I will wash and dry it and donate it to the cancer clinic when I go for my appointment in May.
Your blanket is very nice and will be appreciated at the cancer clinic I'm sure. Donating it is a generous thing for you to do.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen; I know that I felt very cold when I was getting my infusions and, although they have some cotton blankets on hand for anyone who wants one, I took one of my own with me.

DeleteIt turned out really well and will be much appreciated by a poorly patient for sure. (I'm glad you specified that you will dry it after washing!) I need to do something with my out-of-control stash. Every time I start a project with it, it seems to end in my buying even more yarn! Ha!

Thank you, Ella; ha, ha, have to dot my i's and cross my t's when it comes to washing and drying! :D Yes, well, I had to buy more yarn to finish this project, and now I have more leftover, but, an ongoing stash is fine, too. :)

DeleteIt looks amazing and the colourway really works. The size may not be the traditional size for a blanket for the bed, but it would certainly keep someone lovely and warm.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyssa. It's meant for a cancer patient to use as a lap blanket while sitting in the chair, receiving infusions, so doesn't have to be as big as a blanket for the bed. The one I am making now is meant for a bed! :)

ReplyDeleteThank you, Debra. It is actually to be donated to the cancer clinic, to give to a patient who might want a blanket while getting their chemo infusions. They used to hand out cotton woven blankets, but, I always took one of my own blankets as it was warmer.
