Another cloudy and cool day with a high of 68F (normal for this time is around 80F) with a humidity level of 91%, which is very humid for us. I had the electric space heater on in the morning and in the evening, too.
Dancer's right eye had a small discharge in the morning. I gave him his eye ointment twice, today, one in the morning and once in the evening, as directed. He received his probiotic powder sprinkled on his food in the morning (he seems to love that stuff!) He had his thyroid medications applied to his ear twice, too. He is not feeling 100%, but, he's eating well.
In the morning, I did a small load of laundry and hung everything up to dry. I also handwashed the second wool sweater (and lay it flat on a towel to dry). Later, I vacuumed the bedrooms, kitchen, and hallway, moving my bed, etc. in order to vacuum underneath, just in case Dancer's allergic to dust!
Later in the afternoon, I picked more blueberries and several peaches. The peaches are not ripe, yet, but, I don't want any of the branches to break (a few of the lower branches are bending almost to the ground). I took a few peaches over to neighbor S and I cut up a couple of them and had as a snack, with "lunu kudu", the mixture of salt, chili powder, and sugar.
Former neighbor T called and we chatted a bit. Later, I called her daughter K (she had been at the house earlier, clearing the last bits and pieces before the painters start painting the inside on Monday). One of my neighbors had asked me about T's house, if it is for sale and for how much, etc. I told him that I didn't know, but, I will pass on the inquiry to K and I did. She said she'll let me know once the house has been listed and I passed on that message to my neighbor.
In the evening, I watched news and knitted a little on the socks I'm making. And video chatted with my daughter.
Brunch was French toast and I made a few extra pieces for Sunday's brunch, too. Dinner was leftover spaghetti followed by yoghurt for dessert.
On Saturday, I was grateful for:
- Dancer is allowing me to apply the medications without too much of a fuss (he doesn't like the eye cream being applied)
- His appetite seems to be returning
- Working appliances
- Fresh peaches and blueberries from the garden
- Chatting with neighbors
Today's joyful activity was picking fruit from the garden (and sharing some of it with neighbor S).
Plans for Sunday include more knitting and maybe another load of laundry?

Those gardenia are beautiful. I don't think I've seen ones like that before. I'm glad that Dancer is tolerating his meds and that he's eating better. It sounds like M may need to prop up some branches on the peach tree. Didn't one of the limbs break before from the weight of the fruit?

DeleteYes, Dancer is letting me put the ointments on him without too much of a fuss. I hope his eye will improve soon. I worry about him!
Yes, we might need to prop up those branches! We've had branches break off, before, and one year, the whole top of the tree broke off! Side branches on the top of the tree sent up side branches of their own to make up for that!

DeleteIt's 80F here in my living room right now and it's too hot for me, I'll send some heat over to you if you like:) It sounds like Dancer is on the road to recovery and must be such a relief for you. He's a good boy.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it's too hot for you, Eileen. Yes, please, send me some of that heat! It's 65F/19C here, right now, and I am wearing multiple layers and have my electric space heater on! Our high for today is supposed to be 67F/19.4C which isn't much of an improvement if you ask me!
DeleteThank you, yes, Dancer is a very good boy. He let me apply both ointments this morning without a fuss (he was eating his breakfast with probiotics sprinkled on top and he was more interested in that than what I was doing!) I hope he makes a complete recovery; I worry about him!

ReplyDeleteI wonder why your temperatures are lower than usual - still preferable to what's going on in Canada. Yesterday and today have been hovering around 30C here. Today we had about five drops of rain - that won't fill the butt!!
They are lovely, aren't they? I can't take any credit for the arrangement - all the flowers are on one branch and that is just how the branch looked in the vase! I am hoping that, after the flowers die, I will be able to root the branch. We shall see if that works.
DeleteThe temperatures are low because, apparently, there is a flow of cold air from Alaska, coming down the west coast line, cooling the ocean, and a "trough" of low pressure sitting on top of our area, which prevents the cooler marine layer from mixing with the warmer upper layers of air. They do say that it will get warmer towards the end of the month. I hope so!
Yes, definitely better than what is happening in Canada, although they are saying our wildfire season will be bad after all the brush growth from the winter/spring rains!
Sounds like you'll have another hot summer, this year! We had a tiny bit of rain, early this morning, ourselves. I put out my buckets to collect some of it, but, I don't think I collected much rain water (it didn't rain that much).
Sounds like a nice day. I'm glad that at least Dancer is eating. It must be quite worrying when he isn't feeling well

DeleteThose beautiful gardenias look almost like ceramic, with golden spiders in the middle! (sometimes spiders pose with two front legs together on either side). I'm glad Dancer is eating well, always a good sign. You have your work cut out medicating his eyes and ears! Our son has an apple tree that he has to be careful with when the fruit is too heavy for the branches. Always nice to have plentiful fruit, especially peaches!
ReplyDeleteI was in the choir this morning and this afternoon DH and I took our usual river walk as he is almost back to normal although faithfully taking his cough medicine every 6 hours.
They do look beautiful and yes, the centers do look like spiders, don't they?
DeleteYes, I'm happy that Dancer is eating; he's showing a preference for the wet food, right now, but, he has 2 kinds of kibble available to him, as well.
That peach tree is full of fruit, even after thinning the fruit two or three times while they were still developing!
Glad to hear that your DH is recovering from his cough and you were both able to take your Sunday afternoon walk to the river and back. Hope the smoke is dissipating, too. :)
I'm glad to read that Dancer is eating more, and I hope his eye continues to improve. The gardenia is lovely. I don't know anything about peach trees, but it seems like yours is extremely prolific! Maybe its seed sprouted beside a nuclear reactor...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celie; yes, Dancer is eating well although he is showing a preference for the wet food and not the kibble. But, that's OK, too. That peach tree is determined to produce plenty of fruit! It's a variety called Eva's Pride. Too funny about sprouting beside a nuclear reactor! :D

DeleteI'm glad Dancer's eye is getting better. Mog has needed a vet's visit this week, and although she seems okay in herself, the problem is not yet resolved and may need further investigation.

DeleteThe peaches are slow to ripen, this year, but, I'm picking them because they seem to be spoiling on the tree!

ReplyDeleteGood news about Dancer's appetite getting better. I was happy to read that. It's good he's tolerating the medicine. With the ear drops and the eye cream, I'd be pretty disagreeable about the entire thing at this point.
Gosh prices of homes are skyrocketing. Who knows what T's house will go for but I'm sure it will be an amount you couldn't have predicted when you moved into your neighborhood.
I was listening to a report on NPR the other day about bidding wars for apartments now. You include your extra offer in a written form when you submit your application.
In the same report they said that a new study had found that there are currently zero apartments available in the United States that a person earning minimum wage in a full time job could qualify for.

The gardenias are very pretty, aren't they? They have a lovely scent, too. The flowers have mostly faded, now, but, I have the branch in a jar of water to see if it might root!

Yes, house prices in my neighborhood have skyrocketed! Apartment rents, too. I can believe that report about the apartment prices! Especially in my area!
