April Meal Planning: Week 4

I didn't make a meal plan last week and I didn't keep very good records of what I ate, either!

But, brunches included yogurt flat breads/roti with katta sambol one day (Monday) and with chicken curry the next day (Tuesday), an egg salad sandwich (Wednesday), a frozen burrito, a salad, scrambled egg and toast, and a cheese sandwich (Sunday).

Dinners included rice with chicken curry and cucumber salad (Monday); a cheeseburger made with the last frozen hamburger patty, bread ends for the bun, and a slice of American cheese, plus a side salad (Tuesday); rice, chicken curry, and mango curry (Wednesday), fried rice (Thursday), gyoza/pot stickers (Friday); rice, ground beef and vegetables mixture from the freezer, with stir fried broccoli (Saturday and Sunday).

Desserts/Snacks included fruit cocktail dump cake (Monday and Tuesday), fruit salad (Wednesday and Thursday), hazelnut wafers, bananas, grapes, yogurt with treacle, and cereal.

Which was not too bad for not making a meal plan!

Onto this week, the 4th week of April!

Brunches: Sardines on toast, salads, peanut butter on toast, lavash (Armenian flat bread) with seeni sambol or chicken curry

Dinners: Spaghetti with ground turkey (and vegetables) pasta sauce, rice with chicken curry, broccoli, the last of the mango curry and/or cucumber slices, patties with ground turkey filling, leftovers

Desserts/Snacks: Gata (Armenian cookies), yogurt with treacle, fresh fruits, cereal, etc.

Today (Monday), I had sardines on toast and a banana for brunch, lavash with seeni sambol at tea time, together with some strawberries and gata, and spaghetti for a late dinner.

The lavash (Armenian flat bread), gata (Armenian cookies), and strawberries were given to me by neighbor S.

Lavash (on top), Gata, and Strawberries

That is the plan and, as always, it is subject to change!  Are you making a meal plan for this week?

  1. I've not had sardines for a long time and now you've made me want some. Do you have yours in tomato sauce or sunflower oil? I have had some strawberries with Cornish ice cream though, your neighbour is so kind to treat you to some strawberries aren't they so delicious. I cooked a piece of pork I had in the freezer and that will do about three meals, I've already had it with salad and again with a roast dinner yesterday.
I saw your reply on a previous post about my change of supermarket. I'm finding their prices quite high so maybe false economy trying to save on the delivery charge and I no longer accept substitutions and if something is out of stock so be it and it does happen. I will revert to my original supermarket of choice I think.

    1. The sardines I had yesterday were in tomato sauce as that's my preferred kind. But, I also have another can in soy oil that a friend of mine gave me.
Strawberries with Cornish ice cream sounds lovely, although I've never had Cornish ice cream! It just sounds like it might be rich and creamy. :)
I like your method of cook once and eat thrice! :D
Sorry to hear that the switch to the other grocery store is not working out as well as hoped; no delivery charges, but, higher prices. Well, you gave it a try and if you go back to the other store, you will know that it works out better for you. :)

  2. For not keeping records of what you ate, you have a very good memory. We had a very busy week last week, so we got takeout more than usual.

    1. LOL, I realized that I had noted what I ate in my blog posts for Monday through Wednesday and I definitely remembered having the gyoza on Friday as a treat. :) My memory is like a sieve, these days, and I worry that I might get dementia as I age (there seems to be a family history of it on my mother's side). Sigh.
Take out has its place in our busy lives and can be quite a treat, even if one is not busy! I like take out, but, I added my $25 budget for take out to my $75 budget for groceries some time ago, so, I've no budget for take out, these days. If I do get take out, then, I have to find the money for it in another part of the budget!

    1. I'm sure whatever you decided on having was tasty, Bushlady. :) I had more sardines on toast this morning. :)

    2. I've been buying sardines regularly. Today's lunch was sandwiches with red pepper jelly, cheddar cheese, tomato slices and whipped dressing from a jar, and carrot sticks.

  4. I am making meal plans but I need to do better about writing them down! I keep forgetting what I had planned.

    1. Oh, Sharon, that's too funny about making meal plans and forgetting them because you didn't write them down. That's something I would do!
