| Osteospermum Flowers |
I had a fasting blood test this morning, so after I got up, I had a cup of plain, hot water instead of my tea. Then, I went for the blood test. I left a little early because I needed to check in 15 minutes before the appointed time and I got there in good time, today. I was called in right away and had my blood drawn by my favorite phlebotomist. She's the one who gave me her phone number to call if I needed any groceries or other items picked up during the lockdown, saying she can drop the items off at my door step, after work, for contactless delivery! It was such a lovely offer and, although I didn't take her up on her offer, I have not forgotten how kind it was of her to offer.
After I came home (no, I didn't stop to pick up any food!), I said my morning prayers, checked on the garden a bit, opened the doors and windows to air out the house because it was warmer outdoors than inside the house, and had toast with cream cheese and strawberry jam for brunch (the bagels have all been eaten!) I made myself a glass of passionfruit lemonade with two of the passionfruits and a lemon from the garden.
In the afternoon, I watched some videos and continued to repair the quilt top. I hand sew only when there is natural light, so afternoons have become my time to repair the quilt.
M arrived to tend to the garden around 5:00 p.m. and I served him some of the brownies I had made. He had bought some fertilizer, etc., that were needed for the fruit trees, and I reimbursed him. Today, he fertilized the fruit trees and watered the garden, both front and back.
I watched the news in the evening and a TV program, spoke on the phone with friend R, exchanged emails with a friend, replied to blog comments, made fried rice for dinner, and chatted with my daughter.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Access to medical care
- Friendly staff
- A safe drive to the lab and back
- M tending to the garden
- Internet access
Today's joyful activities included video chatting with my daughter and sewing.
No special plans for tomorrow. But, there might be a load or two of laundry happening! LOL.

yes sewing by hand, i do that. I love the meditative quality of it. And happy to read about your appointment, no waiting times. I know there must be people who experience incredible waiting times, the news says so. But my experience with health care is also very good.

DeleteI've had my share of horribly long waiting times! Several hours, at both this clinic while waiting for a blood test, and at my doctor's office! Which is why I go prepared to wait with food, water, and something to read, etc., and every time I get called in right away or after only a short wait, I am appreciative! I'm glad your experience with health care has been very good. :)

ReplyDeleteI never thought of pairing jam with cream cheese - it sounds amazing but I can't have cheese anymore! I may try it with some of the dairy free stuff because it sounds amazing!

DeleteCream cheese with strawberry jam is a favorite combination for me. In fact, the brand name cream cheese has a prepared strawberry cream cheese spread that they sell. But, I prefer the regular cream cheese with my homemade strawberry jam. :)
Your Osteospermum flowers are so pretty. How kind of your phlebotomist to offer to collect your groceries and deliver them for you. I seem to a different lady each time and it's in and out in just a few minutes. I had my blood test too this week ready for my infusion next week and unfortunately that's not so quick but the nurses are just as caring.

DeleteWasn't it very kind of her to offer to pick up and deliver any shopping for me? There are about 5 or 6 phlebotomists at this clinic and while they are all nice and courteous, I've made friends with two of them over the years. :)
I hope your blood test results will be good and your infusion will go smoothly.
I'm glad your blood draw went well. I remember you mentioning that phlebotomist offering to help you with groceries when covid first started. I like to hear stories like this one - reminding us all that many many people are kind and just plain nice :)

Thank you, Debra. Yes, there are some very kind people who do nice things for others, just from the goodness of their hearts. Just the fact that she offered to help warms my heart.

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't given it a lot of thought. The frost appears to have seen of many of my plants. Perhaps some more wild flowers. Xx
DeleteThat's OK; I think you still have some time to consider what to plant. Your wildflower garden was very pretty, last year; I've a few self-seeded wildflower plants growing, but, I think I need to buy another packet of seeds.
