"May we have more kibble, please?" |
The racoons are back! There were two of them, actually, but, this one was the bigger, bolder one, who came right up to the door. (I really need to clean that door!) They ate all the kibble I had put out for Mama Cat!
It rained last night (Sunday night/early Monday morning). But, the rain had ceased by the time I woke up at 8:30 a.m. and we had a partly cloudy and rather cool day. It was 48F outside, around 11:30 a.m., when I checked, and the high was 54F. It is 45F as I type this at midnight on Monday night, and tonight's low is supposed to be 38F. I have had the heater on all day, today.
My daughter had her phone consultation with the doctor this morning. The doctor had said that while daughter was eligible to receive one of the Covid treatments that are available, there was a risk of it interacting with daughter's asthma medication and causing some side effects and other complications. Given the fact that daughter's symptoms seem to be fairly moderate and her age and general health, the doctor's advice was to let the virus run its course. However, if daughter did experience any worsening of symptoms by the end of the day, today, then, she needed to contact the clinic and they will re-evaluate the situation and the risk-benefit aspects of getting a treatment. Also, if daughter experienced any difficulty breathing, then, she needed to go to the emergency room right away.
Fortunately, daughter felt a little better, today. She was able to go a bit longer between doses of ibuprofen and she didn't have a headache. Her throat is less scratchy and sore, she said, although she is still coughing. She did experience more fatigue, today, and took several short naps.
I did a load of laundry, today, started the car, made a couple of cards, took the trash cans to the end of the driveway, and crocheted.
M texted pictures of bags of the different sized pebbles he was able to find at a garden supplies store he was visiting and I selected one (for the parkway), but, told him to feel free to choose a different size of pebbles if he thought they'd be better. He said there was one other place he wanted to check, as well.
Later, I spoke on the phone with aunt C and friend R.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Daughter was able to consult with her doctor
- Daughter was feeling a little better
- Access to medical care and paid sick leave!
- Working appliances
- Chats with family and friends
Today's joyful activities included crocheting and card making.
Plans for tomorrow include making the last few cards and hemming daughter's dress.
How was your Monday? What are your plans for Tuesday?
I have heard of several people whose doctor recommended against meds for COVID if they had mild cases because of the side effects. Glad that your daughter is feeling better and hopefully she will feel better every day.
ReplyDeleteYes, plus the Covid meds have been authorized for emergency use, only. Depending on the situation, the side effects may or may not be worth it. Thank you, June. She is feeling better today and we are very hopeful that she is on the mend. :)
DeleteI am glad your daughter is feeling better. At least the clinic was able to give her good advice. Enjoy your crocheting and card making today. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diana; she says she's feeling better today than she did yesterday. :)
DeleteI'm not surprised your door window needs cleaning with all the critters pushing their noses up against it (I'm sure some come when you are not looking, too! Raccoons are so cute. I haven't seen any around here for a long time but that doesn't mean they aren't here, just that I haven't seen them.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter certainly needs to keep having naps, I'm sure the virus has been exhausting with all the ill effects. Let's hope she is turning the corner now and will be well soon.
We have another sunny day and even DH notices that at times the sun is creating rainbows through a glass ornament on the windowsill. I never tire of rainbows. I made some pastry yesterday and will make mince pies sometime today.
Ha, ha, yes, plenty of nose prints and paw prints, too, on my door! Cats and possums for the most part, but, the occasional raccoon, too!
DeleteThank you, Bushlady. My daughter said she's feeling better today than she did yesterday. Even felt up to putting her closet door back on its track (came off the track on Friday, she said). She was apologetic for taking today off from work and I told her to take her time to rest and recover!
Glad you are having another sunny day. How lovely that the sun shining through the glass ornament in the window is creating rainbows! :)
Yum! Mince pies! Have one for me, too, please, when you make them. :)
I don't know whether racoons are generally welcome in gardens or not, but to me it all sounds very exciting and exotic! Monday for me involved the extraction of my final wisdom tooth and it was not straightforward. The last one took ten minutes, this one took an hour, the services of a consultant surgeon, four stitches and now antibiotics! And I look like a hamster! Luckily my car wasn't clamped for going over the parking time as that would really have been the icing on the cake. I felt shocking in the evening but today has been surprisingly fine. They said to expect swelling and bruising from day three so I am hoping tomorrow won't be worse.
ReplyDeleteOh, poor you! I hope the swelling and the pain from the extraction wears away, soon. I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted (in one go) before I left Sri Lanka and I remember I was miserable! I never thought I'd be tired of ice cream, but, after about the 2nd or 3rd day, I was craving something savory and the cook made me some soup which tasted delicious!
DeleteHi there, i found you at 'a bracelet of days' It seems you too write daily, maybe focussing on every day's joys, being grateful, I love it, thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteHi Jozien. Glad to have been found by you! Yes, I usually write daily and it's all about my daily life and being grateful and joyful, although, I do grumble from time to time. :D I hope you continue to visit and I look forward to hearing from you again. :)
DeleteAre racoons considered to be a pest in your area? I wonder if there are rules about feeding them? I agree with Lady Ella in that it sounds exotic and exciting but I suppose it is similar to the foxes in the country which now survive in the towns.
ReplyDeleteGood news about your daughter and glad she was able to get advice from her doctor.
Well, one is not supposed to feed any wildlife and raccoons can spread rabies, etc., and do quite a bit of damage to a garden (these ones dug up some of my paperwhites bulbs and one of the newly planted mums, and M found other evidence of their digging although he's not sure what they dug up), but, I was putting out food for Mama Cat! They can (and do) climb trees, too. I am hoping they will not try to get to my passionfruit!
DeleteThank you, Eileen; daughter seems to be on the road to recovery. :)
I am glad to read that your daughter continues to feel a bit better with each day. I hope her improvement continues.
ReplyDeleteOh no - those raccoons are back! Oh my. They would frighten me.
I hope momma cat is able to climb up a tree and wait them out.
Do raccoons climb? I don't think so.
Your pebbles are getting closer to being a reality!
Thank you, Debra; my daughter was making good progress, but, yesterday, she had her first panic attack! That was a bit scary!
DeleteThere was one big raccoon and one smaller one; I think the bigger one might be the male? At first glance, they look like big cats, until you see their faces and tails. They were back, yesterday, too. Mama cat seems to be able to hide from them. And yes, raccoons do climb! I've seen them climbing neighbor T's tree in the front and the pine tree in my backyard.
Raccoons can be a nuisance, but they are cute :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your daughter's health is continuing to improve. It must be a worry given her additional health concerns. X
The raccoons are cute and rather comical! But, they seem to have moved on, which is a bit of a relief!
DeleteThank you, Jules; my daughter is still recovering.
