Friday's Blessings

Prompt: Empty
"An Android from my imagination"
"Are those stitches down the arm?"
"That's where the two metal plates making the arm are joined together"

Another hazy day; very grey in the morning, but hazy sunshine in the afternoon with a high of 74F.  I spent a relatively quiet morning, but, in the afternoon, I did a little more cleaning in the garage (I had gone in to take something to store there and to start the car and ended up tidying a few things and sweeping the floor)and a little gardening, scattering some papaya seeds to see if any will germinate and checking on things.

Later in the evening, M watered the garden and he started on the parkway in the front, removing the old (non-functioning) sprinkler line and placing the first of the cement pavers.  He was surprised at how big the paver looked when stacked in my back yard and how small it looked when placed in the parkway.  He is still not sure if the noisy neighbors will leave them alone, but, I'm hopeful that they will!  I gave him some of the papaya and a container of soup that I had kept aside for him to take home.

Today, friend R blessed me with Thai food from a restaurant near her house!

Shrimp Fried Rice and Thai Pepper Beef

She called me in the late afternoon, telling me to be on the lookout for a delivery in about 30 minutes!  She said she had stopped by the restaurant, earlier in the week, and had ordered the same dishes and she thought that I would enjoy it.  So, today, she ordered some for me!  I told her she didn't have to do that, but, she said that she did!  The meal was delicious and such a treat!  I had some for dinner and there's leftovers for the weekend!  Good bye meal plan!  LOL.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Friend R blessing me with dinner
- M helping me with the garden
- Getting started on the parkway improvement project
- What I was able to accomplish
- There is a chance of rain in the forecast for Saturday!

Today's joyful activity was enjoying the wonderful dinner provided by friend R.

Plans for tomorrow include doing a little more on the quilt and continuing with the family room cleaning.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for Saturday and the weekend in general?

  1. What a thoughtful and generous friend! I'm sitting in bed in Scotland thinking about getting up and going to my nephew's wedding. The sky outside is grey and cloudy - I hope the weather improves!

Oh, I do hope the weather improves in time for the wedding! Especially since it's going to be held outdoors! Sounds like you'll need to dress warmly!

Oh, Eileen, I'm so sorry to hear that your husband had some bad news, yesterday. I will keep you both in my prayers as you process the bad news. I hope your flu jab went well and you are not having any side effects from that on top of everything.

  4. Suprise Thai food! Your friends strike once again. If it were me, that would be enough food for the weekend. What's your plan for the parkway?

    1. It's a lot of delicious food and yes, it will last me the weekend!
I want to set down a row of pavers doing down the middle of the parkway (while leaving space for the parking sign post and the water department's maintenance cover) and then, fill in with mulch or something. Right now, it is just a very neglected looking patch of bare ground; I'm hoping that doing at least a little bit of landscaping will discourage people from littering the parkway with used condoms and such (M and I shake our heads at what we find out there!)

  5. Oh, the Thai shrimp fried rice looks delicious. Well the beef dish does too but I can't eat that! How generous of R to arrange that for you and I think it's worth waving bye-bye to the meal plan for it.

That's another great drawing by your daughter. Do they take her long to do, do you know?
Well done on your efforts in the garage and good news to hear that M has started work laying the pavers on the parkway.

    1. The shrimp fried rice is delicious! The beef dish, is, too, even though I have to remove the bell pepper pieces because I get digestive discomfort from bell pepper unless in very small doses (I'm freezing the bell pepper pieces to add to soups, etc.,, later). It's very generous and kind of R to have the food delivered to me; she's a wonderful friend.

Thank you, Eileen; the drawings usually take her a couple of hours to draw and color. Sometimes, she'll sketch out several drawings at a time and then, color them in later.

I was happy that I was able to do a little bit more in the garage, yesterday. I also asked M to ask one of his other clients, who is an electrician, if he can install a new garage door opener for me. If he can, then, that will be another project crossed off the list! And I might also ask him if he can attend to another couple of electrical fixes for me, as well (some of them are indoor stuff, but, I'm thinking I'll be OK with someone doing things indoors after my next booster jab.)

I'm also very happy to get started on the parkway project! :)

  6. That was a nice treat to have the Thai food delivered to you! I hope your pavers will be left alone.
It is dull and sometimes rainy today but the leaf colours make up for it!
Yesterday was okay and I decided I needed exercise so I walked down to the river. When I came back I could hear some odd sounds coming from our boat which was parked on its trailer in the yard. Suddenly as I walked by, a foot and leg appeared from inside, and I jumped! DH was investigating something right up in the covered front of the boat.

I, too, hope that the pavers will be left alone! We shall see.
Oh, my! I'm sure it gave you a shock when you saw a foot and leg appear from inside the boat! Thank goodness it was your DH and not someone or something else!
It rained, here, this morning! I woke up in time to see the tail end of it! It has stopped raining now, but, it is very cloudy and rather cool (71F at 3:00 p.m., with a high of 73F expected). I am very thankful for the rain. :)

  7. Your Thai food looks amazing, Bless, and what a wonderful friend you have there!
It sounds like you achieved an awful lot yesterday too. Saturday has been very quiet for me as G is at work until 8pm tonight. I've just done chores, stripped and washed the bedlinen and done a small amount of shopping. Nothing too taxing!
    Have a lovely Sunday x

I managed to get a few things done and while not as much as I wanted to, I'm happy with what I did get done. Sounds like you've found ways to keep busy while G is at work! I hope you both have a lovely Sunday, Angela.

    1. Thank you, Stephenie. I am hoping that having some landscaping out there will discourage people from throwing their trash in the parkway (don't know if it will, but, I'm hoping!)
Steak and baked potatoes sound delicious! It must be getting cold, up there! Have fun knitting! I want to finish the quilt before I start knitting! I've too many on-going projects, otherwise! :D

    1. The meal was delicious, Debra. I will definitely order from that restaurant, again. We added a few more pavers to the parkway, today. I think it will work out, once they are all in place and we've filled in the spaces with mulch or something.
Thank you; I was trying to clarify what I was seeing. :D
