"This coffee table isn't big enough for both of us, Basket!" |
Dancer pushed the basket off the coffee table, the other morning.
It was a warm day, today. The morning was not too bad; it was 87F outside, but, only 78F inside. But, in the afternoon, it went up to 100F outside and 86F inside and I switched on the fan!
I checked on Mama Cat in the morning and she was lying in one of the flower beds out front. Either she or some other animal had eaten the dry cat food I had put in the bowl for her, so I put more dry cat food out for her and she started to eat it as I went indoors, again. I watched her from the doorway and she was happily munching away at the food. Later in the evening, I checked on her again and gave her more dry food and refilled her bowl with fresh water.
Today, I did a load of laundry, washing my bed sheets; I usually wash them on Mondays, but, now, I've one less thing to do, tomorrow.
Then, I made a birthday card; it will go out in the mail, tomorrow.
After that, I played with fabric! I have two baskets of scrap fabric; today, I started cutting out some squares from them to use in a quilt. Some of the squares are 3.5 inches square and some are 3 inches square. Any usable bits that are leftover are being stored in a gallon sized plastic bag to go into a crumb quilt. It's going to be a very scrappy quilt top, but I rather like scrap quilts.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Fans and electricity to run the fans
- Mama Cat seems to be eating and drinking
- Being able to do laundry when I feel like it
- My card making supplies stash
- My stash of fabric!
Today's joyful activities included card making and playing with fabric.
Plans for tomorrow include:
- Dust the living room and dining area
- Water the garden front and back
- Take out the trash cans
- Clean the fridge
- Meal plan
- Apply the new car registration decal to the license plate!
How was your weekend? What are your plans for Monday?
Once again cats prove that the world is round, otherwise everything would have been pushed off by now (lol). Dancer does look very satisfied with himself. I caught up on the weekend posts & thank you for taking care of Snowball both in life & in death. Poor Mama Cat, she will miss her companion. Also thanks for posting about Eileen. A new quilt project sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteDancer can no longer jump up onto the dining table, so, he has claimed the coffee table as his spot!
DeleteYou are most welcome; both Mama Cat and I are missing Snowball and her quirky personality. I hope Eileen will be able to post again, soon.
This new quilt is going to be a stash buster quilt! Right now, I'm just trying to get the stash down to a manageable amount! :D
Dancer wanted to make sure you knew who was the boss in the house in case you forgot. :)
ReplyDeleteHa, ha; yes! "This is my territory; you put your baskets somewhere else!"
DeleteHave a great Monday. Getting ahead of the game by washing your bedding a day early is a great start to the week.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne. I feel very productive because I got one of the Monday tasks done ahead of time! :D
DeleteDancer knows the best place to lay down so the basket had to go :) It's getting hotter again this week apparently I think we'll be having the electric fans on again, we're not used to it being so hot here. Good to know Mama cat is doing OK since losing her companion Snowball. We have had dogs that grieve for the first few days, looking around for their companions who are no longer there, it's sad to see.
ReplyDeleteDancer has moved to the cooler tiled floor in the bathroom for his nap, this afternoon (it's 95F/35C) right now. I have the fan on. I'm sorry it is getting hot again for you; yes, keep the fans on! I checked on Mama Cat this morning, gave her fresh food and water, and she seems to be OK; just not going into the back yard!
DeleteI am glad Momma cat seems to be feeling better. I wonder why she is staying out front? It must be related to Snowball's being gone don't you think?
ReplyDeleteWe took my car into the shop early this morning. This is going to be a big repair I think. Oh well. Older cars need repairs. And for me, paying for the occasional repair beats a car payment. But that's just me. I know other people would rather have the security a newer care provides and I understand that point of view. If I were driving a good distance to my job every day I would have a different outlook and have in fact had car payments at different points in my life.
I made some vegetarian taco soup in the crock pot this morning and will make some rice later on so we will have that as a base for meals for a few days.
Maybe tomorrow I will make some chicken to add to it.
It's hot here but not as hot as LA!! I hope it cools off a bit for you.
Your quilting sounds like fun. I got rid of a lot of my fabric, donating it to a Senior Center. Sometimes I regret it. But not too bad because there is always more fabric, right? :)
Not sure why Mama Cat is staying in the front; I think she's lonely now that Snowball is gone.
DeleteOh, I do hope your car repair won't cost too much! Yes, older cars do need repairs. My cars have usually lasted me 10-12 years, but, after that, they've become unreliable.
Your vegetarian taco soup sounds good! I have been having chicken curry, these past couple of days!
That was nice of you to donate the fabric to a Senior Center. I haven't bought any fabric since before the pandemic! I am determined not to buy any until the stash is mostly used up!
Dancer may have been looking to cool off a little on the table, or just showing that basket that he's in charge! I'm glad mama cat is eating and drinking. Has she been unwell? Or just had a litter? I don't recall. I look forward to seeing pictures of the quilt!
ReplyDeleteDancer was being Dancer! He doesn't like things being on top of tables! Especially when he wants to stretch out on that particular table!
DeleteMama Cat is getting old and probably bored, although she perks up when Black Jack, an all black male cat, comes visiting (I've no idea whose cat he is, but, I've named him Black Jack; he has the yellowest eyes!) She had a litter earlier in the year, but, her kittens died. She has been choosing to stay out in the front garden or the drive way for weeks, now, but, used to come to the back to eat and drink. After Snowball died, however, she has not been to the back and I worried about her not eating or drinking. Apparently, she was just waiting for me to bring room service out to her!
That Dancer! I can see a "Take that!" expression on his face as he looks down at the basket that dared to occupy a cat-worthy space. Good to know that Mama Cat is eating. We got over our heat and muggy weather yesterday. We had heavy rain all night (every time I woke up) and it has rained on and off all day today and is only 68°F. It's pouring with rain right now. We will be developing webbed feet at this rate!
ReplyDeleteHe is too funny! He has abandoned the glass topped coffee table for the tiled bathroom floor as it is cooler, right now. He'll come back to the coffee table, later, and probably glare at me because I've placed a basket of scrap fabric on it!
DeleteSounds like you've had a change in the weather! It's 95F (35C) right now and sunny; I'd appreciate some of that rain if at all possible! :D
Stay cool. That must be a cool spot that Dancer likes to sit on. He probably thought it was better suited to him than the basket lol
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon; hope you are keeping cool, too. Yes, Dancer gets a little of the fan when he's up there, I think. :)
DeleteIf the photo was taken this month, you could post it for Eileen as "Dancer being naught-y". (And if he glares at you, photograph him looking cross!!!)
ReplyDeleteElla
Oh, that's such a great idea, Lady Ella! Yes! The photo was taken this month! :D
DeleteI agree with Dancer, cats before baskets -- although I do love a pretty basket. I like scrap quilts too, although I don't have enough patience to work on one, much less a crumb quilt.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I think it was his way of saying I needed to go through the basket and get rid of some of the stuff I had in it!
DeleteI love that photograph of Dancer. I imagine he thought he was very clever. X
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules; yes, I think he was very pleased with himself! :D
