Once Upon a Time |
Imagine if you will, a medieval fantasy castle, with winged ice dragon maidens and knights. That was the theme of my daughter's friend A's wedding. The theme was carried out, throughout, with much of the props made by the bride, herself.
The bride's dress had a train (tail) made of silver and blue dragon scale (chain mail hand crafted by her), the maid of honor and bridesmaids wore ice blue and white Lolita-style dresses (design modified by the bride and custom made), and they all had wings made by the bride. The groom, bestman, and groomsmen wore medieval knights' attire and the guests were encouraged to come in medieval costumes as well and, according to my daughter, almost everyone did! It was held at a venue that looked like a castle (ceremony held outdoors with the castle as the backdrop) and was officiated by the "Elder Dragon" who was also in costume. My daughter doesn't have any of the official group pictures, yet, but there is one informal picture of her with the bride. My daughter doesn't have her wings on yet in the picture.

The bride carried a bouquet, but, my daughter and the bridesmaids carried floral lanterns (flowers arranged by the bride):

The tables featured centerpieces reflecting the theme:

And so did the cake:

Oh how wonderful, like a fairy tale wedding. The bride and your daughter look stunning in their dresses. The jester doing the juggling made me smile, what a brilliant idea. They escaped the downpour of rain too, sounds like a perfect day.
ReplyDeleteIt was a wedding that had to be postponed for 2 years due to the pandemic; the bride waited a long time for her dream wedding! I am glad it all went well on the day. First love for both of them and they've been together for several years. :)
DeleteWhat a fun themed wedding. The dresses look so beautiful & I like the lantern idea ... bride's maids lighting her way to her new life. Yeah to the much needed rain holding off for the wedding.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it? The bride and her friends worked very hard to make it happen just the way she wanted it to be. I like your take on the lanterns! I'm glad the heavy rain held off until after the wedding. :)
DeleteHow fabulously fun and memorable that day turned out. It will make their memories even more vivid.
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is the bride is one of the most practical and pragmatic people I know, but, she had this dream wedding planned and did what it took to make it happen. :)
DeleteWow, the bride certainly put a lot of effort into having the wedding of her dreams. It all looks lovely. It was very kind of her to accept that your daughter wanted to keep her mask on, and the suggestion to eat in the bridal suite was definitely thoughtful.
ReplyDeleteYes, she put a lot of effort into having the wedding of her dreams. My daughter did warn the bride that she would be wearing her mask throughout and the bride was OK with it. :)
DeleteWhat an amazing day. And what a good friend your daughter is, to give so much help to make it all so special. Martha Stewart herself could not have done better!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at all the effort they all took to make this such a personalized wedding. I forgot to mention the "dragon eggs" crispy rice and marshmallow treats and castle-shaped shortbread cookies that one of the bridesmaids made for the desserts. They all did what they could to make it a special day for their friend.
DeleteWhat a wonderful wedding. I always say that if something goes wrong during a wedding, it will make a great story in the years to come. I hope that the bride and groom will be very happy.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly did everything they could do to make it the wedding of her dreams, didn't they? I, too, hope that they will be very happy together. :)
DeleteWhat a fun wedding! It sounds like everyone had a great time, and the bride must have been very happy with it. I'm glad the rain held off, and that your garden got a good soaking. Celie
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely a one of a kind sort of wedding, I'd say. I'm glad everything worked out how the bride had planned.
DeleteMy garden received the soaking it needed. We are having warm weather, this week, so, the rain helped. :)
That sounds like a wonderful wedding! Weddings, in my mind, should be fun and totally personal to the bride and groom. My daughter and her husband had the three dogs in theirs. Not easy, but it wouldn't have been the same without them!
ReplyDeleteThese personalized weddings are extra special, aren't they? I love the fact that your daughter and her husband had the three dogs participate! :)
DeleteWhat a creative themed wedding! Your daughter's friend has a very artistic and imaginative way with her and has interpreted everything brilliantly. How lovely that most of the guests also wore medieval clothes. (I wonder if she had any elderly grandparents there and what they thought of it! 😃) I hope that this dream wedding will lead to continued happiness.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very creative wedding, wasn't it? Yes, the bride is very artistic and talented. There weren't any grandparents in attendance, as far as I know. Thank you for your well wishes; that's what we all wish for, isn't it?
DeleteThanks for sharing that different kind of wedding. It sounds like a lot of fun. The bride has been busy making so many things herself. And talented, too.
ReplyDeleteIt was a unique wedding, wasn't it? The bride is very artistic and talented; she put a lot of effort into making the wedding her own. Doing it herself also saved her a lot of money, too, which is always a consideration. :)
DeleteI wish I had seen this wedding. It sounds lovely and specific to them. I agree with Sharon that it should reflect the couple's taste and desires.
ReplyDeleteI have been to tons of formal wedding and remember specifics about very few of them.
The most beautiful wedding I have ever been to was a very small event(maybe 20 guests) in the narthex of a church at 9:30 in the morning because sunlight hit the stained glass windows perfectly and the entire place looked like the inside of a kaleidoscope.
It was certainly a very personalized wedding and a memorable one, too, I think. :)
DeleteAfter such a long wait, how wonderful that the bride was able to have exactly what she wanted, with all her special people around her. Lovely memories for your daughter too - it is such an honour to be asked to take a big role on someone's special day. Murphy's law that you get rain the one day when it was not wanted, but glad it had the decency to hold off till later!
ReplyDeleteThe bride worked hard to make it the wedding of her dreams and I'm happy that she was able to do so. It was definitely an honor for my daughter to be asked to be the maid of honor. Yes, definitely Murphy's law when it came to the rain! LOL.
DeleteThe dresses are beautiful. It looks like a lot of thought and care was taken to ensure the perfect day. Thank you for sharing these photographs, Bless. X
ReplyDeleteA lot of thought was taken to make the wedding what the bride wanted it to be. You are welcome. :)
DeleteWhat a creative wedding! I'm glad the bride was able to craft her special day in a way that was meaningful for her.
ReplyDeleteAnd what lovely dresses. Just beautiful.
How nice that your daughter and her friend have been such good friends for so long. I imagine your daughter crashed after the weekend wedding events!
It was certainly a very personalized and creative wedding, wasn't it? Daughter and the bride have been friends since 7th grade! LOL, yes, we had a very quiet Sunday! :D
