Saturday Treats

Cinnamon Rolls - Compliments of N

Neighbor S's daughter made homemade cinnamon rolls and brought over some to share with us!  They were delicious!

I had a somewhat restless night, last night, as I was unable to fall asleep.  I finally fell asleep around 4:00 a.m. and then, slept in till 11:00 a.m.!  Then, after morning prayers, I went out to the garden for a bit, picked a handful of peapods, and some flowers for the altar and the living room mantel.  Then, I dusted the living room and the dining area, broke down some cardboard boxes for recycling, cleaned my toilet, and cooked some sauteed chickpeas (garbanzo) for brunch.

In the afternoon, I paid some bills, read blogs, replied to blog comments, spoke on the phone with aunt C and friend R, watched some Olympics coverage and news, and played wordgames!

I warmed up some soup for my dinner and boiled some frozen kuftha for my daughter's dinner, did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen a little bit.

All in all, a lovely day of relaxing with just enough housework thrown in to help me feel productive!

Today, I am grateful for:

- A sunny warm day
- Neighbor N bringing us homemade cinnamon rolls
- Chatting with aunt and friends
- Fresh peapods from the garden
- Fresh flowers from the garden

Today's joyful activity was picking flowers and arranging them in vases.

Plans for tomorrow include watching some TV, as there is a hometown team playing in a football game at a local stadium!  LOL.

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for Sunday?

  1. Those cinnamon rolls do look lovely. It's awful when you can't get to sleep but thankfully you had a good lie in. I like the idea of doing just a little housework to make you feel productive. I have no plans for today except to wait for the rain to stop so I can take the pup for a walk.

    1. The cinnamon rolls were delicious! I limited myself to half of one because I am supposed to be cutting down on my sugar intake! My sleep schedule is all out of whack, but, fortunately, I can sleep in! Once upon a time, I used to clean the whole house in one day, but, these days, I prefer to do a little bit, each day. The down side of that is the house is never "all clean", but, on the positive side, I don't get too tired. I hope you rain stopped in good time for a walk with Tilly. It's a lovely sunny day, over here. :)

    1. It was a good day and I even managed to get some reading in before bed! The rolls were very delicious and bad for my waistline! But, I only ate half of one and gave my daughter the other half! :D

  3. I love cinnamon rolls and those look delicious.

We have a local boy on your home team that will be playing tonight so I may tune in, but I definitely won't be watching the whole game.

    1. Homemade cinnamon rolls are the best!

I hope you will be rooting for the home team, then, June, when you do watch! :D It's been the pre-game show from 9:00 a.m., but, I am not watching all that! I'll watch a little later on and I will watch the whole game, while doing other things in between. :)

    1. It was a good day, until I discovered Dancer had left me a "tootsie roll" in the bedroom as I was getting ready for bed! Aaargh! I was NOT happy!

Your cinnamon roll picture made me crave something sweet. I will resist, but my mouth might water through my resistance.

    1. Thank you, Anne; I am looking forward to watching the game. :) I'm sorry the cinnamon rolls made you crave something sweet! N lessened the amount of sugar in the glaze, but, it was still plenty sweet!

  6. Oh, those cinnamon rolls are so tempting. How lovely of N to send them over to you.

It sounds like you had the perfect balance of being productive and chatting with family and friends today. I've had a family day too, visiting Baby R (and his parents) for a couple of hours this morning.

It was a very nicely balanced day. Of course, Dancer had to leave me something to clean up just before I went to bed, which didn't please me at all, but, he's getting to be an elderly cat. :(

How lovely that you got to visit Baby R! And his parents, of course! :D I need to catch up with your Week in Review post!

  8. Those cinnamon rolls look delicious. I am a sucker for any and all kinds of cinnamon rolls. We just bought some this weekend at Sam's club. We also bought some for our neighbor's across the street and my husband ran over real quick to drop them off. Yes I heard about the football game being played there. I am soooooo happy LA won! Yaaaay!! So excited for them. I was definitely rooting for them. Denise

    1. They were good cinnamon rolls. Glad you bought some for yourself, this weekend, and that was nice of you and your husband to buy some cinnamon rolls for your neighbors, too. I'm sure they appreciated them! The game was exciting to watch, I thought. I did feel sorry for the other team, although I was rooting for the home team!

  9. Oh my, those cinnamon rolls look delicious. I've made them a couple times in my life but they are not something I normally make. Which is good because I have no self control when it comes to delicious pastries.
    Or chips.
    lol

    1. They were delicious! I've never made them from scratch (as opposed to buying the refrigerated ones that come in a tube) and I am probably not going to, either, because, as you said, I have no self control when it comes to pastries (or chips, or chocolate)! :D
