Snowpea Flower |
After I came home, I made a quick lunch with some of the ground beef mixture I made last night, adding some leftover rice to it and a little more chili powder. Then, I replied to blog comments and caught up on a couple of blogs.
M came by, a little later, to tend to the garden. He potted up a couple of plant cuttings that I had rooted in water and watered the garden.
I spent a quiet, relaxed evening. Called and checked on neighbor T (and when she didn't answer, I called her daughter to check with her and she said her mother was with her and they were at the chiropractor's office; she thanked me for checking on her mother), spoke with friend A and with friend R, too. And declined an invitation to a party to celebrate my cousin's grandson's birthday! Our county's Covid numbers are still very high; today's confirmed new case numbers amounted to 23,796 with 101 deaths. The numbers are too high for me to feel comfortable attending a large gathering. I will drop off a gift the day before the party and that will have to suffice.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Good blood test results as well as the good mammogram results
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- Medical insurance
- Access to medical care
- M helping with the garden
Today's joyful activity was tending to the garden with M.
Plans for tomorrow include catching up on some housework.
How was your day? What are your plans for tomorrow and the weekend?
Good news that all is well with your blood tests and mammogram results. I have been rather surprised that you need three monthly checkups but know they give you peace of mind. As you probably know I had breast cancer treatment in 2020 and apart from my six monthly Zoledronic infusion to prevent osteoporosis and annual mammogram I have no need to se my oncologist. I suppose this is the difference between our NHS treatment and your paid for treatments. You are wise to take precautions with the high Covid numbers, such a worry isn't it. Today I have to go and buy some new printer ink to print out a gift of a portrait of Tilly :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. I was equally surprised when you said that you don't have to go for regular checkups. I suppose it is due to the difference in insurance. I do appreciate the peace of mind that come from the regular checkups, though. :)
DeleteHope you have a pleasant day in which to shop for printer ink. We are having a gloomy day, here; no rain, but, cloudy and cool.
That's excellent news about your mammogram and bloods results. I'm so pleased for you. Congratulations on the weight loss as well.
ReplyDeleteDid M agree with your identification of the stinky flower?
My plans for tomorrow should include catching up on some housework but I can't see it happening ... my piano keeps calling to me and I can't resist 😂
Thank you, Eileen. I was happy with the test results and the slight weight loss.
DeleteM thought I had the right name for the plant; he really didn't know the name as he was given the bulbs by a neighbor of one of his clients and she didn't tell him what they were!
Oh, let the housework be and play the piano, instead! :D
I'm glad all went well at your appointment. I agree that it isn't safe to be attending large gatherings at this time. It's a shame, feels like this will never end. Have a nice weekend Bless. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. I'm not comfortable attending large gatherings; most probably nothing will happen, but, I don't want to tempt fate! Hope you are having a good weekend, too. Stay safe!
DeleteI am so glad your appt went well. Even 2 pounds is great because there was no gain. I am always happy when I even stay the same weight. lol
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend. Heading to see my brother-in-law that was Medevaced home and is in hospice here now at his house. xo Diana
Thank you, Diana. I seem to be gaining and losing the same 5 lbs. for the past year, at least! It's definitely a struggle for me!
DeleteOh, I hope your visit with your brother-in-law goes well. So sorry to hear that he is in hospice care. (((HUGS)))
I'm glad the appointment went well! What good news.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good weekend.
Thank you, Sharon.
DeleteHope you are having a good weekend and staying warm!
It's good news that your tests are good and the appointment went well. With Covid numbers like where you are, I'd avoid large gatherings also. Actually I avoid them here when I can, and our numbers are much less, even adjusting for population. I have to teach two classes in person though, but we have a mask mandate at work and it is enforced. Still I am very careful. Enjoy your weekend! Celie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celie. Yes, it is best to avoid large gatherings if at all possible. That's good that you have a mask mandate at work and it is enforced. Even so, it is good to be careful. What classes do you teach, if I may ask?
DeleteHope you have a good weekend, Celie, and stay warm!
I'm glad your appointment with the doctor went well. Love the snow pea flower. Won't it be wonderful one day when we will be able to accept invitations to family gatherings instead of having to be cautious?
ReplyDeleteWe had a FaceTime chat with DS and family this evening and a lot of talk about the convoy in Ottawa. Fortunately they don't live right downtown. It is supposed to be a rally for freedom but instead it is denying freedom to the people whose lives are being invaded and inconvenienced by this ugly, noisy takeover of the city! Some of them are quite afraid and their animals are scared, too.
Thank you, Bushlady. Yes, it would be lovely to accept an invitation without having to worry about viruses and such. I guess some people are already doing that (going by the number of people accepting the online "evite"), but, unfortunately, I am not ready for that, yet!
DeleteI am glad your DS and family are not too impacted by the trucking convoy. I read about it online, but, haven't seen much news coverage of it on TV (then, again, I don't always watch news on TV!) I hope it all ends well and soon!
I always think what a wonderful community there is around you. You check up on each other as neighbours should. It's wonderful that you had great results at the doctors. I am so happy for you. You are obviously doing something right. I agree, I think it's still good to avoid big gatherings. I'm sure that your family will understand
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyssa; a few of my neighbors and I watch out for one another. :) I was very happy with the results at this doctor's office! The blood test results for the other doctor weren't quite as good (checking for different things), but, I have an appointment with her in February and hopefully, things will be better by then. I think, at this point, any invitations are a formality, because my family knows I won't attend. I'll drop off a gift on the day before the party and leave it at that!
DeleteI am glad you had a good visit at the doctor's.
ReplyDeleteYou are nice to check on your neighbor when she doesn't answer.
When my friend's neighbor, who is in her 80's, did not answer several phone calls my friend went over to her house and found her passed out on her kitchen floor from a fall.
She had been there over night. She has real mobility issues due to troubles with her legs and hips and also had had her booster shot that day so who knows what the exact issue was that made her fall.
She is still in rehab trying to get stronger. I think about her and hope for the best for her.
Thank you, Debra. It was a good visit with the doctor. :)
DeleteWhat a blessing your friend was able to check on her neighbor! Neighbor T, too, has fallen several times.
