Saturday

New Scarf

Close Up

I finished knitting my new scarf, today.  It's a type of mesh-like novelty yarn, with a metallic thread running through one edge, that I had bought on sale and had in my stash.  It knits up in ruffles.  I used two balls of yarn to get the length that I wanted.  It's not a really warm scarf, but, I love the shades of purple.

This morning, my friend A and her daughter C came over to pick up the documents to be faxed.  It was lovely to see them, again (we wore masks, did our transactions outdoors, kept our distance, etc.)  I had only two new fabric masks, but, I gave them both to C and told her I'll have more, next week.  Later, C returned the documents that were faxed, along with a confirmation report, for my files.  I am so grateful to her for her kindness.

After they left, I had breakfast, did a load of laundry, practiced the piano, watched some cooking shows on TV, and finished knitting my scarf.

This morning, when I checked the air quality, it was moderate.  Later in the afternoon, I wondered why I was finding it harder to breathe and checked the air quality, again.  It had gone to very unhealthy.  I had opened one window, earlier, to air out the house, but, I closed it and turned on the air purifiers (I received the second purifier, several days ago).  It is another hot day, so I have the fans going, as well.

Today, I am grateful for:

- C faxing the documents for me

- Air purifiers

- Fans

- Electricity to run the air purifiers and fans

- Inhalers

Today's joyful activity was seeing friend A and her daughter.

I don't have anything much planned for tomorrow.  I hope that there will be better air quality.

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for tomorrow?

    1. Thank you, Anne.
I don't think our air quality has been quite this bad in a long time. I'm glad I have the air purifiers.

  2. That's a beautiful scarf. Maybe I should get an air purifier, too. You really can feel it in your chest when the quality drops.

  6. That's a very pretty scarf, such a lovely colour.

Now that the documents have been faxed through, what's the next stage in the process? I hope it goes smoothly, whatever it is.

    1. Thank you, Eileen.

The next step is to send the insurance enrollment forms to the retirement office. I have filled out most of the forms, but, I have to wait for something from the Social Security office (either a letter saying they have reviewed my application and I am eligible for coverage or the actual Medicare card with a number) and send a copy of that along with the forms. They need the Medicare card number before they can process the enrollment forms. I have spoken with one of my former co-workers who now works in that office and he has assured me that he will do everything in his power to process the forms as soon as I can get them in; so, not too worried. :)

  7. That's a very pretty scarf, lovely colour! I've seen that yarn but never tried it.
It must be hard to keep track of the air quality and so frustrating to have opened a window to freshen up the house and then the outside air deteriorates!
It's dull here and we were just going to go for a walk and it started to rain. We may get out soon as it seems like just a shower.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I am knitting another one, with a silver gray ("Platinum") yarn. Red Heart Boutique Sashay Sparkle. I looked it up, online, just now and was shocked at the prices! I bought mine at the dollar store!

We are having miserable air quality, today. I opened the bathroom window for less than half an hour and closed it! Have been running the air purifiers since morning!

I hope you were able to go for a walk, after all.

Next year for me - you will be an expert by then so I may ask you a few questions :)

    Pretty scarf - fun too

    1. Thank you! Hopefully, when it is your turn, you won't need to produce all these documents and can easily do it online (or, in person).

Started on a second scarf, today, but, the stitches dropped from the needle and this yarn is such, I am unable to pick up dropped stitches, so, undid the whole thing! Hate when I have to do that!
