These were my meal plan options for the first week in September (including the last day of August).
September Meal Plan Options:
Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch: Milk rice with spicy onion sambol✓ and/or fish curry (Tuesday, Sept. 1), muffins, scrambled egg and fried potatoes✓, uppuma (Indian style semolina/cream of wheat)✓, tuna salad sandwiches✓, boiled cassava with spicy onion sambol, coconut flat bread (roti).
Dinners: Chicken drumsticks with stirfried vegetables and rice or noodles✓; fish curry with rice, green beans or cabbage; coconut flat bread (roti) with fish curry; leftovers✓.
Snacks/desserts: Fresh fruits (oranges, apples), canned fruits, muffins, crackers, cereal, cookies, etc.
Here is how it turned out:
Monday:
Breakfast: Uppuma
Lunch: Cup of noodle soup
Dinner: Teriyaki chicken and noodles with cabbage and carrots
Snacks/Dessert: Orange, lemon/lime soda!
Tuesday:
Brunch: Milk rice, onion relish (seeni sambol)
Dinner: Teriyaki chicken and noodles
Snacks/Dessert: Muffin, cookie, orange
Wednesday:
Breakfast: Uppuma
Lunch: Paratha with onion relish
Dinner: Teriyaki chicken and noodles
Snacks/Dessert: Grapes
Thursday:
Brunch: Pancakes
Dinner: Teriyaki chicken and noodles
Snacks/Dessert: Grapes, cookie
Friday:
Breakfast: Pancakes
Lunch: Tuna salad sandwich
Dinner: Spaghetti with meat sauce
Snacks/Dessert: Grapes, cookie
Saturday:
Brunch: Tuna salad sandwich
Dinner: Spaghetti with meat sauce
Snacks/Dessert: Grapes, iced coffee
Sunday:
Brunch: Scrambled egg and hashbrowns
Dinner: Spaghetti with meat sauce
Snacks: Frozen iced coffee "popsicle", grapes, muffin
It looks like I planned the breakfasts/brunches/lunches very well and I made at least one of the planned dinners!
My cousin and her daughter bought me half a gallon of milk and some grapes, midweek, and that was the only grocery shopping I've done, so far, in September.
It is almost too hot to cook, right now, and I am unable to think of anything I feel like cooking! This might be a "fix whatever is quick" type of week when it comes to meals!
September Week 2 Meal Plan Options:
Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch: Cereal with milk, French toast, scrambled egg and fried potatoes, boiled cassava with spicy onion sambol, pancakes.
Dinners: Pasta with meat sauce; coconut flat bread with onion sambol; rice with fish curry and cabbage; leftovers.
Snacks/desserts: Fresh fruits (oranges, apples), canned fruits, muffins, crackers, cereal, cookies, etc.
Not a very inspired meal plan, is it? I might change it, mid-week.

Sounds good to me, you had my mouth watering just thinking about all the delicious Indian foods. Maybe quick or cool foods would be best with the intense heat you've been having. Either way, have a delicious week :)

DeleteSounds so yummy and aromatic! I usually have a week plan in my head, but the moment I cook I can modified it slightly. For example, yesterday I started making bolognese sauce, but in the middle of preparing, I changed it to chili con carne😊 Have a lovely day!

ReplyDeleteI made a big vegetable frittata yesterday. Eggs were .80 a dozen last week so I got 2 dozen. I used 10 eggs in the frittata and used up all of my leftover vegetables.

I'd have bought several dozen and frozen them (haven't actually tried it, but, apparently, if you break them up and add a little salt to them, they freeze well and can be used for scrambling, baking, etc.) Your vegetable fittata sounds good! Reminds me that it's been some time since I last made an omelette. Ha, ha, you've given me an idea for a blog post! :D
You always have such a lovely variety of food. I am thinking I should start eating better and a more balanced diet might help with the cramps. We shall see!

DeleteA more balanced diet might help with the cramps; make sure there is some magnesium-rich foods. I had cramps in my hand, last night, and I took a magnesium supplement and it helped.
I like your menu for the week and it's good that you have a plan of sorts that suits you.

Thank you, Eileen. I cooked one dish that was not in the meal plan for lunch, today, but, still plan to make the fish curry either tonight or tomorrow. That should see me through this week, nicely.
