When I made my Week 4 Meal Plan, I anticipated wanting some soft, easy to eat food for after the tooth extraction and included soup. What I didn't anticipate is my neighbor S bringing me dinner two evening in a row! I was happy to change the meal plan options to include those dinners!
This was the meal plan options I started out with:
September Week 4 Meal Plan Options:
Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch: Leftover French toast (Monday), cereal with milk, scrambled egg and toast or fried potatoes, pancakes, tuna or egg salad sandwiches, garden salad.
Dinners: Leftover hamburger patty with salad and corn; chicken stir fry with rice or noodles; soup (Thursday, after tooth extraction), leftovers.
Snacks/desserts: Fruits, crackers, tortilla chips, ice cream, etc.
And this is what actually happened:
Monday:
Brunch: Banana
Dinner: Scrambled egg (singular; I usually eat only one egg at a meal)
Snacks/Dessert: Orange, grapes, crackers
(I wasn't hungry on Monday; day long asthma flare up)
Tuesday:
Breakfast: French toast, orange juice
Lunch: Pizza
Dinner: Dolma and tabbouleh (compliments of neighbor S)
Dinner: Dolma and Tabbouleh |
Snacks/Dessert: Crackers, grapes
Wednesday:
Brunch: Leftover Dolma
Dinner: Beef and potato stew compliments of neighbor S to which I added green peas
With Green Peas |
Snacks/Dessert: Crackers, grapes
Thursday:
Brunch: Ice cream! (Post tooth extraction)
Dinner: Tomato soup; followed by mashed potatoes a couple of hours later; followed by a scrambled egg another couple of hours later; followed by a slice of bread and butter!
Snacks/Dessert: more ice cream
Friday:
Breakfast: Tomato soup
Lunch: Beef and potato stew, thinned down with water
Dinner: Tomato soup; bread and butter; hamburger patty (later at night)
Snacks/Dessert: Grapes
Saturday:
Breakfast: Tomato soup
Lunch: Shredded chicken sandwich
Dinner: Macaroni and cheese with green peas
Snacks/Dessert: Orange juice, crackers
Sunday:
Breakfast: French toast
Lunch: Tomato soup, crackers
Dinner: Leftover macaroni and cheese
Snacks: Cantaloupe
It all worked out quite well, I think.
On to Week 5. I am going to include the first few days of October as part of my September Week 5 meal plan. I will not be grocery shopping this week; I still have most of what I bought during the grocery pick up, last week.
September Week 5 Meal Plan Options:
Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch: Pancakes, uppuma (semolina), milk rice and onion relish (Thursday, October 1), tuna or egg salad sandwiches, leftover tomato soup (1 small serving left), salad.
Dinners: Leftover mac and cheese; chicken stir fry with rice; "breakfast for dinner"; leftovers
Snacks/desserts: Fruits, crackers, etc.
That's the plan, anyway. Let's see how it works out.
How about you? Are you making a meal plan/options this week?
Yum, I haven't made tabbouleh in a while, my husband loves it, so I should preparw it, too! Stews are perfect for Fall, one of my fav meals for chilly days. Now I am making cyrry spiced vegetable soup with rice and I think about pulled chicken burgers for second meal😊 Have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteOoh, your soup sounds wonderful! I have soup even on hot days! I don't think I've had pulled chicken burgers, so hope you post a recipe for that.
DeleteHope you, too, have a good week, Natalia. Stay safe!
All your talk of French Toast had me make some for Sunday breakfast - alas no leftovers. I had a massive rooting out of the chest freezer yesterday so making meal plans from that discovery. Glad to read that you are not having any pain with the tooth extraction.
ReplyDeleteFrench toast is best on the day it's made, anyway. :) Good idea to make the meal plans based on what you have in the freezer. Hope you have a lovely week.
DeleteIt all sounds delicious and I'm glad you got some extra meals from your neighbor :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. I am planning some easy meals, this week!
DeleteI could get on board with ice cream for a meal! I might have "needed" to eat ice cream for several meals.
ReplyDeleteI think ice cream for a meal is perfectly acceptable, especially in these stressful times! I enjoyed a bowl of it, last night, too, as a late night snack!
DeleteI'm not doing a meal plan as such but am looking at different ways to use up the fish that's been in the freezer for ages, so out of that I'll have some different meals to eat this week and next.
ReplyDeleteI like to make a curry with fish or bake it with lemon juice; my mother used to make a pie with flaked fish mixed with vegetables and topped with mashed potatoes. I hope you find lots of good fish recipes. :)
DeleteI do a similar potato topped pie - one of my favourites. I hadn't thought of curries ... good idea, thanks.
DeleteYou are welcome. :)
