Today was the day the library was screening the second free movie of the month. In the morning, I debated going to see the movie. I am not much of a movie-goer and staying home, watching the Senate hearings and doing the jigsaw puzzle seemed like a good idea! But, I felt that I should make the effort to go. After all, they are providing free entertainment and all I had to do was show up! I called cousin P to see if she'd like to go with me, but, she said she needed to do a few things around the house.
So, in the afternoon, I went to the library, by myself, to watch the screening of "Judy". I am glad I went to see it, because I really enjoyed it. Of course, I cried, but then, I always seem to cry at movies! But, it was a good movie and I am glad I had the opportunity to watch it. Next month, they are showing "Chinatown" and "Harriet". I don't think I will go to see Chinatown, but, I will plan on going to see Harriet. My daughter saw it with a friend of hers and said it was a good movie.
I came home after the movie and a few minutes later, friend M came over to tend to the garden. Afterwards, I spent a quiet evening, working on the puzzle, doing a load of laundry, and practicing the piano.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Free movie screenings at the library
- A fun afternoon watching the movie
- M tending to the garden
- Video chatting with my daughter
- Working appliances
Today's joyful activity was watching the movie at the library.
I don't have any big plans for tomorrow. Friend R and I had made a tentative plan to get together, but, I called her, this evening, and we decided to get together another weekend, instead.
How was your Friday? What are your plans for the weekend?
Judy Garland was such a gifted singer, but didn't have an easy life. I should like to see that film.
ReplyDeleteNo, she didn't have an easy life, although it looked so glamorous to the outside world. I think you'll enjoy the movie.
DeleteI think it's great that you are able to enjoy these screenings. I wouldn't mind watching Judy myself, yet I never seem to watch many films these days.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is looking quite miserable this weekend, so I will mainly be spending it pottering about at home, getting some jobs done and I'm hoping to find time to complete the baby blanket for my friend. X
I, too, am glad that I am finally able to attend these screenings, Jules.
DeleteSounds like a good weekend to stay home and craft. Looking forward to seeing the finished baby blanket. :)
I often have to force myself up and out of the house, but I'm usually glad that I did. What kind of chairs do you sit on while watching the movies?
ReplyDeleteI tend to be such a homebody! I really do have to force myself to go out! They are a type of metal chairs with padded seats and backs. They don't fold, but, can be stacked. They are not the most comfortable seats (the padding is rather thin), but, fine for a couple of hours to watch a free movie. :)
DeleteI somehow missed the Harriet film but it looks good so I hope you enjoy it. Chinatown doesn't appeal to me either. I quite like going to the cinema on my own, although sometimes it's nice to be able to chat about the film afterwards.
ReplyDeleteGoing to the movies has almost always been a shared experience for me. In fact, I think this is the first time I've ever gone to see a movie by myself! I am looking forward to seeing Harriet.
Delete"Judy" Was that about Judy Garland, perhaps?

It was, Wisps of Words. The movie focused on the period, towards the end of her life, when she performed in London.
DeleteI just read some reviews of "Judy" and it certainly sounds like a sad movie but extremely well done. I hope to see it sometime. I can recommend a funny movie if you haven't already seen it. DH and I recently watched "The Terminal" in which Tom Hanks gives his usual amazing performance. One scene in the second half was absolutely hilarious.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good movie, Bushlady. I hope you do see it sometime; I think you'll like it. No, I haven't watched "The Terminal", so, thank you for the recommendation! :)
DeleteThat's great that you are taking advantage of those free movies. Art is so moving. Friday was productive. I picked up the jewelry that I had repaired and got lots of cooking and baking done.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am glad that I am attending them. :) Sounds like you had a busy day! Hope you are having a nice, relaxed weekend.
DeleteWhat a fantastic library. Our local does singing with tiny children. Everyone there when it's happening, walks around smiling heaps.
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty good library with a lot of programs for the community, both children and adults. The little children singing would be such a happy sound!
