Rain on Sunday

The day dawned sunny and clear, but, by afternoon, the clouds started to gather and it began to rain in the evening.   It is 11:30 p.m. as I type this and it is raining quite steadily.  I am glad for the rain because the garden is getting a good soaking.

I've had a relaxed day, today.  I slept in and then, made milkrice and spicy onion sambol (seeni sambol) for brunch.  Then, I read a few blogs etc., and wrapped another couple of gifts.  I tried to take a nap in the afternoon, but, I couldn't fall asleep.  Instead, I read for awhile and played some games on the computer.

I also spent a little time looking at various things on Pinterest.  They had ideas for mug rugs and I was inspired to make this:

Snow Man Mug Rug

There was some white fleece leftover from one of daughter's Anime costume projects and some yellow felt.  I needed orange felt for the carrot nose, but I used an orange marker on the yellow felt.  The black embroidery floss is what I had on hand.  I have enough of the white fleece to make myself a set of four mug rugs.

Today, I am grateful for:
- The sunshine during the day
- The rain in the evening
- Craft ideas online
- Being able to make something using supplies I had on hand
- Fresh lemons from my trees

Plans for tomorrow will include the rest of my gift shopping and, maybe, a stop at the grocery store for more half and half!

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  2. The snowman is very cute. I have never heard the expression "mug rug". I have only called them coasters.

    1. Mug rugs are coasters by another name! Although, some mug rugs tend to be bigger, more rectangular. :)

  3. That's a very cheerful snowman mug rug!

I was told to avoid all citrus while on antibiotics as apparently citrus can mess up the effectiveness of the active ingredient in the medication. I don't know if this applies to all antibiotics but it may be worth checking if you are having lemon drinks while taking meds.

    1. Thank you for the heads-up on the citrus and antibiotics. I wasn't told anything, but, then, again, I didn't read all the fine print on the leaflet that came with the medication, either. I have been squeezing half a lemon into my glass of water just to flavor it, a little bit. But, I've two more days of antibiotics left and I'll check the fine print about citrus. Thanks again!

  4. The mug rug is adorable! I wish I had seen this a couple of weeks ago because I would have made sets of them for my sons families. Oh well there is always next year! Hope you have a marvelous holiday Bless!

    1. It is rather cute, isn't it? Well, they say the best time to start crafting for next Christmas is right after this Christmas! In fact, I'm thinking of buying more white fleece, myself, and making a few more sets for gift giving, next year!

Thank you, Anne. I wish you and yours a lovely Christmas, too, and a happy New Year.

    1. Thank you, Nil.

I heard on the news that there have been some floods in Florida and an airport was closed; I hope you are not impacted in any way. I hope you have a safe and happy Christmas, Nil. Will you be getting together with friends?

  7. What a cute mug rug. I guess that is the only way you are going to get to see snow at Christmas! We have mild temperatures today and the snow has been falling off the trees. Nice to have the mild weather but the magic has gone! Meanwhile the Christmas tree is all lit up to compensate. I went shopping yet again this morning and was surprised to learn that the truck hadn't arrived at one store and no whipped cream to be had. So I went back to the other store where they had some but not from the local dairy which I like to support. Considering it was Dec. 23 it wasn't too crowded, thank goodness.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I like how the coasters/mug rugs turned out. :)

Your Christmas tree sounds beautiful. I'm glad you were able to find the whipped cream you needed! It's good the stores weren't that crowded. My daughter and I were out, shopping, too, and managed to get all the gifts I needed. :)

  10. That mug rug is so cute, Bless. And how industrious of you to not only use supplies on hand but to color the yellow felt with your orange marker.
These would make a nice gift.
