Knitted and Crocheted Hats |
It was sunny, today, with highs in the upper 60s. I slept in and woke up after 10:00 a.m. I spent a relaxed rest of the morning, replying to blog comments and reading a few blogs.
In the afternoon, I knitted. I had wanted to take some knitted hats to the cancer center to leave in the chemo room for anyone to take. I had knitted some during the past couple of months, in between other projects, but, had done only six - three white and three peach. So, today, I made three more in blue. One blue hat is crocheted; all the rest are knitted.
While I knitted, I watched news programs and this evening's Democratic debates. I also did a load of laundry.
Today, I am grateful for:
- A sunny day
- My yarn stash
- Being able to knit
- Fresh lemons from the garden (I made myself a glass of lemonade)
- A working washer and dryer
Friday's To Do List:
- Doctor's appointment
- Remake daughter's bed with freshly washed sheets
- Pick up daughter from airport in the evening
How was your Thursday? What are your plans for Friday?
That's such a lovely gesture to knit the hats for the cancer centre and they're lovely. I'm sure they will be appreciated. X
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules. I hope they will be taken.
DeleteWow,so kind of you with those hats, they are so cute☺
ReplyDeleteThank you, Natalia. Just want to spread a little cheer. :)
DeleteThe hats are beautiful, Bless. They look so soft.
ReplyDeleteYay!!! Your daughter is coming home! I hope you have a wonderful time together.
Thank you, Nil.
DeleteYes, daughter will be home, tonight! Looking forward to that!
My sister makes hats similar to yours but tiny ones. The premature baby unit put out a request for them so she has been busy. Yours are lovely and are a generous donation to the cancer unit.
ReplyDeleteI've been participating in the American Heart Association's Red Hats for New Borns program, here, but, just today, I received an email from them saying they are discontinuing the program! I'll have to find someone else to take the baby hats I've made, this year.
DeleteI hope the hats I made for the cancer center will find some takers. :)
A nice variety of patterns with your hats--something for everyone.
ReplyDeleteLemonade with fresh lemons sounds so good. I don't think I've ever had a fresh lemon. If they come fresh off the tree, do they have a little sweetness with the sour?
Thank you, Live and Learn.
DeleteThe lemons I have are a variety called Meyer lemons, so they are sweeter than regular lemons.
Those hats look really cosy and will be nice and warm for the patients who take them.
ReplyDeleteI bought another Christmas gift this morning and I've made some Mars Bars squares, still putting off those mince pies, though. Needing to make both gluten-free pastry and regular for us is stalling me, but I did it last year and it means the family get to take some home with them if DH and I only eat the regular ones. I was reading Angela's blog (hope she recovers soon) and laughing at her sense of humour. No time for over-the-top productions in that household, nor in mine either. Impromptu and contrived-through-necessity makes for more fun and memories!
Thank you, Bushlady. I hope they will like them.
DeleteSounds like you are making headway with your Christmas prep. Having to make two kinds of pastry is more work for you, but, I know your family appreciates your thoughtfulness and kindness. Can you make the gluten free and buy the regular? Would that help?
I gave some of the first gifts of the season, today; a box of chocolates to the staff at the clinic, a small gift to gardener friend M, etc. I've been given antibiotics to help with this cold and cough, and, hopefully, they will kick in over the weekend and I'll feel well enough to get the rest of the holiday gifts shopped and wrapped on Monday!
How lovely it is that you knitted those. I know that for Mum one of the worst things about having cancer was losing her hair. It happened right around this time of year and she woke up on Christmas Day in tears as most of it had gone. She didn't want to see anyone on Christmas Day. Luckily my sister had already picked up some scarves so mum had something to help.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Yes, the hair loss can be the hardest thing for many of us. I had knitted myself a couple of hats, and I wore them, all the time.
DeleteThe hats are lovely’s
ReplyDeleteThank you, Akasha.
DeleteWhat a precious thing to do. After spending a lot of time at the cancer center with my hubby I know how important hats are and the thought behind them.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and Merry Christmas. xo Diana
Thank you, Diana. It's something I've been wanting to do. I hope to make a few more before my next visit.
DeleteHope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas.
