Wednesday at Home

On Wednesday, I slept in and then, spent the rest of the morning and the better part of the afternoon playing on the computer!  I finished writing my Japanese Garden post, replied to comments, visited a few blogs, read other stuff online, etc., and spent another hour or so trying to motivate myself to do the cleaning!  LOL!

Eventually, I got off the chair and cleaned!  The smaller bathroom didn't need a lot of cleaning, as I had already scrubbed the bathtub on Monday.  I wore a dust mask when I vacuumed, but, even so, after doing most of the house, with just the family room left to do, I found myself starting to wheeze, so, I took a break.  I had a cup of tea, made myself a tuna salad sandwich, watched the evening news, finished knitting the sweater sleeve, and read the magazines I had borrowed from the library.  Afterwards, I felt OK and vacuumed the family room, too.

Then, I went into the spare room and tried to do one decluttering/organizing task, there.  I sorted through a pile of stuff that daughter had decluttered from her room and put aside some of it to be donated (clothes, shoes, some lotion, etc.) and tossed a few items (old make up, nearly empty bottles of hand sanitizer, etc.)  However, I am not counting those items as part of my April decluttering, as they were my daughter's stuff.  I kept a couple of items she had decluttered - a t-shirt and a bottle of green frosted nail polish.  She tossed the nail polish as it doesn't cover well.  I tried it, myself, and I saw what she meant.  Well, after 3 coats of polish, I now have green frosted fingernails, but, although I let them dry for a long time, they got smudged, overnight!

Smudged Nails
Maybe put another coat over them and see if that helps?  I do like the name of the color, though: "Big Money Frost"!  LOL!  Painting my fingernails was one of my joyful activities of the day, on Wednesday (the others were reading magazines and knitting).

Dancer ran away from me and hid when he saw that I had the flea meds in my hand, so I didn't give him his meds.  I also decided that I will wait till Thursday to put gas to the car and combine it with a couple of other errands.

Cousin P called me in the evening to say she spoke with one of our cousins who is visiting from Australia.  Aunt C called too, as the evening news was showing an on-going police chase in my area for a suspect who escaped them, to tell me to close my windows and lock my doors!  LOL.  It wasn't in my immediate neighborhood and I was not overly concerned, but I assured her that my windows were closed and my doors were locked, as they were, more because it was cold than because of a suspect on the loose!

Brunch had been a slice of leftover pizza, tea was the tuna salad sandwich, dinner was the last of the pasta-noodle stir fry, with yogurt for dessert.

On Wednesday, I was grateful for:
- Being able to sleep in
- Getting the day's cleaning done
- Inhalers and dust masks
- Aunt caring enough to call to check on my safety
- Video chatting with my daughter

Wednesday's To Do List:
- Give Dancer his flea meds - he ran away from me and hid!  Will do on Thursday
- Put gas to the car - Will do on Thursday
- Vacuum - DONE
- Clean the bathrooms - DONE
- Do one decluttering/organizing task in the spare room - DONE (sorted through a pile of daughter's decluttered items to donate/toss)

  1. Hi Bless, You sound great. I did some blogging and gardening yesterday. I am listening to a book on tape from the library as I clean the house. It is due in a couple of days. Today I fed the citrus trees compost, knit a chunk of my sweater, and weeded the front garden.

    1. Thank you, Stephenie. You have been busy! I haven't tried doing housework while listening to a book on tape. Sometimes, I listen to music. Occasionally, if I am cleaning in the family room, I will watch a TV program. More often, however, I just listen to the conversation going on in my mind! LOL!

You seem to be following your schedule pretty well! I am impressed.

    1. It is a pretty shade, isn't it? I think I need to invest in some clear top coat to keep them from getting smudged.

I am determined to make this cleaning schedule work! Eventually, I might decide that somethings can be done every other week, but, for now, I want to run through it at least twice!

  3. I really love your nails! I always used to love going to nail salons, but now being a nurse’s aide, I couldn’t do it. If you needed help on the toilet, you wouldn’t want someone helping you with nails like that. My Thursday has been pretty good!

    1. Thank you, Akasha. I allow my nails to grow out, then, I cut them all the way back, and let them grow out again! I'm glad you had a good day, today. :)

  4. Maybe if you keep the keep polish on your nails, it will bring you money. Must be where they got the name, right? :)

  5. Our pets know what we are up to!!! A bit of cunning and trickery might help. And, daughters are indeed a great source of interesting 'gifts'. As are grand-daughters.

    1. Oh, he knows the moment I take the flea meds out! LOL. Yes, I used to give my stuff to my mother and now, it's my daughter's turn to give her stuff to me! :D I can't wear most of her clothes since she's a couple of sizes smaller than I am, but, I am able to wear stuff that is oversized on her.

  6. Wow! You are doing great with your cleaning schedule, and as time passes, each task will take less and less time to accomplish. Maybe on Monday, I will follow your schedule to start with. This weekend I don't feel like doing any. I seem not to have any trouble cleaning other people's homes, just not my own. Ha,ha.

Last night while checking my doors to make sure they were locked for the night, I found my back door unlocked. Since I know for a fact I did not use that door at all yesterday, I have to surmise that it has been open for the whole two weeks I was gone. I think the last thing I did on that Saturday morning was to take the kitchen garbage out to the bin. Oh, oh.

    1. I'm glad nothing was amiss when you returned home, Susan, especially if the back door had been unlocked the whole time you were gone!

Thank you; yes, I am sticking to my schedule, this time around, and it is working out well for me. Now, if I can only come up with a cleaning schedule that implements itself, without any effort from me, that would be even better, but, until then, this one works! I'd love to have you join me!

    1. Thank you! I meant to reapply another coat over the smudges, but, I forgot! I hope you polish yours and, maybe, do Lily's too? Playing nail salon was a favorite pastime when my daughter was a little girl. :)
