In the afternoon, I took the trash and the recycling out to the big bins and I called the City's sanitation department to request two new bins, since both my trash bin and the recycling bin were cracked! It was something I had been intending to do, but kept putting off. But the recent rains filled both bins with water, so I knew I needed to get new bins. They will deliver new bins on Wednesday, I was told; I just have to put the cracked bins out before 6:00 a.m. I will probably put them out on Tuesday night.
Later in the afternoon, I hand washed the few dishes that I had piled in the sink and made myself a salad for lunch:

After lunch, I stripped my bed and remade it with the warmer flannel sheet set. Then, I did two loads of laundry, including the blanket from my bed. I am afraid I was rather lazy and dried both loads in the dryer, today (except for a bath towel which I hung up to dry).
Friend M came to do the garden and he mowed the back yard for me. I also had him trim one of the euphorbias in the front, as it was top heavy and had toppled over sideways! We are leaving the trimmed branches to form a callus and will plant them elsewhere in the garden, next week.
I also did a little knitting, today; trying to work on the sleeve on the grey sweater.
Dinner was from the freezer and the fridge:
Dinner |
Rice (1/2 cup), lentils, and green beans from the freezer, with leftover mackerel curry from the fridge. That was the last of the mackerel curry, but I have more lentils and green beans in the fridge. I checked my blood sugar 2 hours after the meal and it was well below the recommended guidelines, so that was good. I also took out a piece of cooked chicken breast from the freezer and kept in the fridge to thaw - I will have that for one of my meals, tomorrow.
Friend A called me in the evening and we had a nice chat. Later in the evening, I video chatted with my daughter. She said it was raining, up there. We are supposed to have rain over the weekend, down here, and, again, mid-week! I am started to feel a bit water logged, but, it means I don't have to water the garden and I am saving on my water bill, so I am glad!
Today, I am grateful for:
- Being able to sleep in
- A working dryer!
- A freshly made bed
- M tending to the garden for me
- Freshly picked oranges from the garden
Saturday's To Do List:
- Some paperwork
- Some housework
- Some crafting
How was your Friday? What are your plans for the weekend?
Your to-do list for today looks very well balanced, unlike mine which has been a whole lot of fun and little to no housekeeping. My paperwork has been limited to card making or shredding paper from files I purged last week. I will make an attempt at vacuuming today.
ReplyDeleteYour salads always look so delicious. I am not a big salad eater during the winter months, except for when I go out to eat. I certainly make more of them during the hot summer months. Your salads look like they are packed full of variety and tasty additions. Yum.
I think you deserve to have a day of fun and no housekeeping, Susan. (((HUGS))) As for my to do list, it remains to be seen just how much of anything I accomplish! Notice I didn't write down any specific tasks!
DeleteAs for the salads, thank you. I always have the same basics - lettuce, carrot, cucumber! Because they are the vegetables I like. I am not a big fan of salads, in general, but, if I can't eat as much starch as I'd like, then, salads are a good alternative! At least, I am getting some vegetables in me!
Our weekend plans are not very exciting. Continue working on the construction in the basement and work on both our personal and my mother's taxes.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the taxes! I used to do mine, but now, I pay someone else to do them for me! I do have to get all the papers ready for my upcoming appointment, but that is all.
DeleteHope the basement construction is coming along well.
Have a warm and safe weekend.
You really are on a good diet, and I am sure you will notice the difference. I admire you for cutting back on carbs. I really should follow your example. I made banana pancakes which include oatmeal for breakfast, and I had a leftover one with some lemon curd for a snack in the afternoon with a cup of tea. I really want to cut out snacks but this time of year it is hard, so a little extra weight creeps on!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. I am trying. Last night, however, I had a slice of bread with a spicy onion sambol as a late night snack! But, I am eating fewer carbs than I would normally eat, so, I guess I'm headed in the right direction.
DeleteOh, pancakes sound so good! But, I couldn't eat just one or even two pancakes and that wouldn't be a good low carb meal, would it? Sigh. I think I'll go eat some cucumber with salsa!
