Tired on Thursday

I am feeling tired, today.  I don't know why, because I didn't do a lot of stuff, today.  Just went to the office and came back.  I did have a very congested drive home; maybe that is what tired me out.

One of the supervisors brought scones to the office, today, so I had a cranberry-orange scone for breakfast!  It was delicious.  I have never made scones but now I want to try making them.  Maybe this weekend, when daughter is here, because she, too, likes scones.

I went to the farmers market during my lunch break today and bought a bread roll from my favorite bakery stall.  I had taken some pats of butter and the last of the cold cuts with me, in anticipation of buying this bread roll and making myself a sandwich with it!  I had half of the bread roll with the butter and cold cuts for lunch, along with an orange for dessert.  I ate the other half of the bread roll when I came home, with my coffee.  I checked the fresh produce at the farmers market, but every thing seemed rather overpriced to me.

I watched the evening news and then, fell asleep on the sofa while watching a program being shown on public television (NOVA), about the search for King Solomon's mines.

After I woke from my nap, I called one of my friends and chatted with her for a bit.  Then, I remade my daughter's bed with the sheets I laundered yesterday and did the dishes.  Later, I made some fried rice with leftover rice, leftover ground beef, an egg, and some finely shredded cabbage (got to get those veggies in!) and now, I have more dishes in the sink to be washed!  LOL.

Today, I am grateful for:
- A sunny day, after all the recent overcast days
- Scones for breakfast
- Crusty bread rolls
- Naps on the sofa
- Antibiotics

Thursday's To Do List:
- Go to the office - DONE
- Visit the weekly farmers' market - DONE
- Remake daughter's bed - DONE
- Vacuum
- Do the dishes - DONE

I did everything except the vacuuming; I still need to clean the litter box before I go to bed.

Tomorrow, I have a fasting blood test, first thing in the morning.  I will be going to the office, afterwards.

Friday's To Do List:
- Leave a note to the gardener with a garden to do list
- Go to the clinic for the blood test
- Give the medical authorization form to the doctor
- Go to the office
- Vacuum
- Pick up daughter from the airport
- Hug a daughter!

How was your Thursday?  What have you planned for Friday?

    1. I usually say my prayers and then, listen to the radio (either news or music) or listen to a CD when I drive, and that relaxes me, but yesterday, the traffic was worse than usual. Hope you have a lovely weekend, and a happy Mother's Day to you, too, Nathalie.

    1. Thanks, Andrea. I like to think I'd get a lot done, but, most probably, I'd just procrastinate and be lazy even if I have energy! LOL.

  4. Love scones and fun to name with your daughter.

I think as the week goes on when you are working it is normal to start to flag a bit, especially if the alarm clock is waking you on the days you go into the office. Do hope you feel more energized today and have a lovely visit with your precious girl.

    1. Thanks, Sandy. You are right; I do have more energy towards the beginning of the week, I think. I really need to pace myself, but I'll get back into the swing of things, eventually.

I really want to try my hand at making scones! I'm going to try this weekend! Looking forward to having daughter home for the next few days!

  6. That cranberry orange scone sounded so delicious. Whenever I think of scones, I dream of Devonshire or Cornish "cream teas", where scones are accompanied with thick cream and strawberry jam and cups of tea. In the good old days, when air travel was a treat rather than a trial, British Airways used to serve an afternoon snack on their westbound flight across "the pond" and it was a small scone with a little pot of cream and a wee pot of jam! What a delicious little treat even if the cream did only come in a plastic pot on economy. Well, at least I can be thankful that I am old enough to have traveled at that time.

    1. Oh, that sounds like a lovely snack on board the airplane! My daughter wants to take me to "afternoon tea" at a restaurant for Mother's Day, but I am not sure if they know how to do it properly, over here!

    2. You might be pleasantly surprised. I have found places in Canada that can serve up a delicious selection of mini-sandwiches and fancy cakes, with real china cups and saucers! Hope you have a lovely visit with your daughter.

  7. Hope your visit with your daughter is wonderful. I too, was worn down Thursday, but I will blame the cool rainy day and little to do at the office.

  9. HI BLess, I do hope you are not coming down with anything and that is what is causing you to be tired. Praying that your blood work comes out with great results and that you have a wonderful time with your daughter this weekend.

    1. Thanks, Debbie; no, I don't think I am coming down with anything. Just a bit run down, I guess, which, as one of my friends pointed out to me, is to be expected, as I am still recovering. Just have to give myself more time and pace myself. Hope you, too, have a lovely Mother's Day weekend.

  10. Tiredness can wash over me as well at times Bless. It's probably natures way of telling you to rest. I think sometimes when we're on the road to recovery we tend to forget exactly what our bodies have been through.

What a lovely treat your daughter coming home for the weekend. That will perk you up for sure. Have a lovely time together. xx

    1. Suzanne, you are right. We are still on the road to recovery, aren't we? Even after more than a year, the fact that I still have inflammation and swelling means I still haven't fully recovered. I guess I'm impatient and expecting myself to be further along than I am!

It is definitely a treat to have her home! She'll be here for a few extra days, so a bit of an extended weekend visit. :)
