I finished putting together the trellis, this morning. I spent some time trying to figure out what to do about the missing piece, but eventually, decided to remove that section of the trellis, altogether, and make it a little shorter. Problem solved! Later in the afternoon, when my gardener friend came over, we set it up so that the jasmine vine and asparagus vine can go up the trellis. I forgot to take a picture.
In the afternoon, I put away the dried laundry from yesterday and did another load of laundry. Then, I tidied the family room and vacuumed it. I also swept and vacuumed the kitchen (had to sweep first, because I knocked a glass off the counter by accident and there were shards of glass everywhere, and then, I thought it would be best to vacuum, as well). Vacuumed the bathrooms, too. I debated vacuuming the bedrooms, but decided to do it tomorrow.
My gardener friend mowed the back garden for me. Later, I watered the garden, both front and back.
Today, one of my cousins and an aunt called.
It has been another very windy day! We are having what is known as the Santa Ana winds - they are strong, hot, dry winds that blow from the desert. Some areas are experiencing wind gusts of up to 65 miles per hour, according to the news, and there have been some downed trees and power lines, and several areas are without power!
Today, I am grateful for:
- A day of vacation from office work.
- Getting some housework done.
- Phone calls from family.
- Electricity!
- No downed trees or power lines in my immediate neighborhood.
Friday's To Do List:
- Go to the garden center for tomato cages - Postponed for Saturday!
- Finish assembling the trellis - DONE
- Put away laundry - DONE
- Do another load of laundry - DONE
- Other items from the carried forward list!

- Paperwork
Saturday's To Do List:

How was your Friday? What are your plans for the weekend?
Glad to hear you haven't come off too badly regarding the winds and also that DD was sent home from work on Thursday - it must be a relief to know her company take their staffs safety seriously.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your long weekend. Thomas and Amy are off on Monday for our May Day holiday so they get a long weekend as well. xx
Thanks, Suzanne. Hope Thomas and Amy enjoy their long weekend. May Day is not a holiday, here. Hope your week is going well.
DeleteHow nice to reminisce while watching music videos. Sometimes we need to take the time to relax like that and I'm sure that you slept better for it, and also caught up by sleeping in.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the broken glass, I often use a damp paper towel after picking up the larger shards. The damp paper picks up the tiny pieces that are barely visible. Of course the vacuum does this, too.
Our weather has also been windy and quite warm, and I have been puttering in the yard for a short time over the last 3 days. I cleaned up the path in front of the house on Thursday, pruned some blueberry plants on Friday and today I did a fair bit of raking. DH is now evaporating birch sap, which smells quite different from boiling maple sap. It takes twice as long to produce a syrup, because the boil down ratio is 80 to 1 instead of 40 to 1. Also, it must only be simmered, any real boiling would ruin the flavour! So a log or two gets tossed into the fire but not too much, and so it simmers away. It is not for pancakes! It is useful for marinades and sauces for meat and chicken and salmon.
Bushlady
Bushlady, yes, I've done the damp paper towel trick, myself. In fact, I was going to, but I was trying to make something to eat when I knocked the glass and I decided the sweeping was enough for the time being as I was wanting to eat, and later, vacuumed. By that time, I had forgotten about the damp towel. Which is a good thing, actually, because, otherwise, it would have led to me wanting to mop the floor (which desperately needs mopping, but I am ignoring for now!)
DeleteBirch syrup! That sounds so exotic, to me! Glad to hear you are having some warm weather. Sounds like spring is making its way there, finally!
I hope you have a lovely day, tomorrow, Bushlady. Take care.
I love that you used to do dance classes with your daughter. What a great experience to have together.
ReplyDeleteIt's been quite windy here overnight. I'm not sure what the day will bring. I don't like windy weather. X
It was a lot of fun! Daughter was a very good dancer and I was this rather uncoordinated woman with achy knees who was always a step behind what the others were doing! But she was so supportive of me! Maybe it's something you, too, can do with your daughter, when she's older.
DeleteHope the winds die down without causing any damage, Jules. Hope you have a lovely Sunday.
