Daughter's Christmas Decorations |
It rained all night, last night, and it was still drizzling when I drove to the clinic for my hydration. The freeway was bumper to bumper and there were many accidents. At least one other freeway was completely closed due to an accident and another had two lanes closed. I left 15 minutes early and was still 5 minutes late to my appointment. My oncologist was running late due to traffic, too, but I was seen by the nurse practitioner, so there wasn't any delay. Today's hydration session took a long time, however, as they gave me a big bag of saline solution! But I don't need to go for additional hydration. My next appointment with the oncologist is in one month's time. I worked on another Christmas gift while I was having my hydration.
It stopped raining, mid-morning, and by the time I left the clinic, the sun was shining. Today's afternoon high was 63F. My gardener friend was in a T-shirt; I was bundled up in a sweater, coat, and a scarf! He brought in the Christmas tree and set it up in the family room for me. I also had him bring in the bin with the tree ornaments, the bin with the winter village, and the wreaths. But I haven't started decorating yet.
I felt tired after my hydration session. So, I spent a quiet afternoon and evening, doing office work, changing my bed sheets (put on the flannel ones!) and doing a load of laundry. I will clean the litter box before I go to sleep, but everything else on my To Do List will be put off till tomorrow!
Friday's To Do List:
- Hydration appointment - DONE
- Office work - DONE
- Paperwork/filing
- Change my bedsheets - DONE
- Do a load of laundry - DONE
- Start writing my holiday cards!
Saturday's To Do List:
- Write the holiday cards
- Decorate the tree
- Start decorating the house
- Paperwork/filing
- Put away the dried laundry
The photo above and the ones below are of my daughter's holiday decor. She bought the wreath base, ornaments, and picture frame (from the dollar stores).
Flying Reindeer |
She found the reindeer template on-line, she said.
Reindeer Close Up |
This is the girl who once asked Santa for a bell from his reindeer as proof that they could fly and took him on his rounds. Santa brought her a whole strand of bells! I usually hang it on the front door knob during the season and it jingles every time the door is opened.
Today, I am grateful for:
- The rain we have received
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- A good hydration session
- My gardener friend helping me with setting up the Christmas tree
- Flannel bed sheets!
How was your Friday? What are your plans for the weekend?
I'm glad your hydration session went well and your drive was safe. It sounds very busy.
ReplyDeleteThe reindeer are delightful, I might need to borrow that idea 😊, and I just adore the bells on the door. What a lovely memory to have. X
We just don't know how to drive in the rain, over here. Every time it rains, we have so many accidents. She cut the reindeer from regular paper because that's what she had, but she said card stock would have been better. So if you are making some for yourself, use card stock.
Deletehugs. Those reindeer look amazing!
ReplyDeleteWas the traffic due to the Christmas rush or the weather? When I lived in a part of the UK that doesn't get snow, the traffic used to come over all peculiar at the first snowflake but people in North Wales, Highland Scotland, Lake District etc did just fine. Christmas traffic here is bad and just one accident can cause havoc.
Prayers and hugs continue. x
The traffic was mostly due to the weather. Traffic is usually pretty heavy, anyway, but we just don't know how to drive in the rain!
DeleteThank you for the continued prayers and hugs. I need them!
Lovely decorations. I love to see how other people decorate for the holidays, and I particularly like the picture frame with the hanging baubles. I may have to borrow that idea (but not this year). The reindeer stretched diagonally across the wall is very cute. I think my grandkids would love that. I too have Christmas bells hanging around the door knob coming into our home.
ReplyDeleteI also plan to trim the tree today. I got it set up yesterday, made sure the lights were working and left it. I had planned to decorate it last night while watching television, but a neighbour came over wanting help with a computer issue, so that task was moved forward to today. I vacuumed the downstairs floors again yesterday, but after setting up the tree....well, everything will need another dusting and washing next week.
You have had a very busy week of appointments. It is like having a black hole swallowing up all the time in your day. It is amazing that you got as much office work done as you did. Do you ever get used to it?
I think my daughter got the idea for the picture frame from Pinterest.
DeleteThat was very kind of you to help your neighbor. I am sure your help was much appreciated. Have fun trimming your tree. I forgot to check if the lights work on mine! Should do that first!
Medical appointments do take up a lot of time and they can be tiring, as well. I'm learning to schedule everything else around them. (((HUGS)))
Such lovely decorations, and the reindeer are wonderful. Our tree is still out in the yard! It is now even deeper in the snow. My husband doesn't seem worried about it and I am not ready to decorate it yet so I guess it will come in when we are both realizing that it is high time to do something!
ReplyDeleteBushlady
Thank you, Bushlady. My daughter has been reading the comments and she's thrilled that everyone seems to like her reindeer. :)
DeleteWhen I was a child, the Christmas tree wasn't decorated until Christmas Eve and then it stayed up until Epiphany.
Proud you got to your hydration appointment safely and back home , with all the accidents going on..
ReplyDeleteYour daughters decorations look pretty.. Love the reindeer ..so cute.
Hope you have a good day.
Thank you, Judy.
DeleteShe said she was inspired by a glitter covered reindeer ornament she saw at the dollar store. :)
