I had my 15th treatment yesterday and my 16th today. I am half way up the mountain! Just 14 more steps to go! Still doing well as far as side effects go. I asked the radiation technician to confirm that it was my 16th treatment today, and it must have reminded her that I haven't been seen by the radiation oncologist or even the nurse since my initial consultation (except for when the oncologist came in to mark the area to be scanned just before I started my treatments). She told me to wait in the waiting area after my treatment, that the nurse would see me. Five minutes later, she came to tell me that the nurse couldn't see me today, after all, and will see me tomorrow.
It's been exactly one year since I received the results of my mammogram saying it showed something abnormal. It has been quite an year.
Yesterday, I went in to the office for a short time in the afternoon. Today, I went in for a meeting in the morning. I wanted to stay the whole day, just for the air conditioning! :D
What hasn't been taking place is the decluttering. I just haven't had the time to sort through things. So now I am 3 days behind! I am a little disappointed about being behind with the decluttering, but I am still planning to catch up, though! I have taken Thursday and Friday off from work, so I should have more time to declutter.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Being more than half way done with my treatments
- The treatments going well and according to schedule
- Still feeling OK and doing well
- Answered prayers
- Phone call from one of my cousins in Australia
Thursday's to do list:
- Blood test in the morning
- Radiation treatment
- Meet with nurse and/or radiation oncologist
- Declutter!
- Water the back garden
How was your day?
You have had such a journey! Thank you for being honest about the decluttering. It is tough, but it is reassuring for people like me who struggle. x
ReplyDeleteI do struggle with the decluttering, myself. I wouldn't be having so much stuff if I didn't find it hard to declutter! I could easily put 25 pencils or however many number to equal the date to donate, but that wouldn't really be decluttering, would it?
DeleteCongratulations on your halfway mark and also that you've had no side effects (touch wood). After this treatment will it all be over apart check ups or is there another process you still need to go through?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry too much about the de-cluttering, you're like a whirling dervish with it and I'm sure you'll catch up lol.
Do you have plans for returning to work or aren't you anywhere near thinking about that yet? xx
Thanks, Suzanne. From what I understand, once the radiation is over, I will be put on some type of hormone treatment in the form of a daily pill. Other than that, there will be regular check ups, but that will be all. Unless the check ups indicate further problems. :p
DeleteMy plan is to return to work after I complete the radiation. I might take a week off, just to fully relax before I return to work, though.
I am do very happy that you are 1/2 way up that mountain.. wow!! SO happy that the side effects have been miminal and pray they continue too.
ReplyDeleteDont you dare worry about not getting the decluttering done. You have done an amazing job. Working, taking treatements, taking care of yourself.. How amazing can one woman be?? smile.
Thank you, Judy. :) It is a blessing that the side effects have been so minimal.
DeleteAs for the decluttering, I am still hopeful that I can catch up. If not, I've decluttered 300 items so far this month.
Half way! Woohoo!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jess. One step at a time. :)
DeleteLook at your superwoman, working through all those treatments and thinking about possibly taking a week off when it's all DONE! I would have put in for a year off. You might not have had the choice but you are amazing and an inspiration in more than one way, Bless.
ReplyDeleteAnd I happen to think that getting rid of 25 pencils does amount to something. I haven't decluttered anything at all today. I was going to drop off the stuff that I have set aside to the thrift store, but it was so hot, I didn't want to be out too long. I'll do it... soon
I'm curious to hear what the nurse tells you tomorrow!
Congratulations on making it thus far, my dear Bless.
Thank you, Nathalie. I might have to resort to the pencils, at this point! :D
DeleteI saw how hot it was over there - stay cool and hydrated!
