Cloudy Monday

California Poppy

I slept in, this morning, which was fine because I didn't have to get up early to go anywhere.  Woke up to a cloudy, overcast day.  Had a cup of tea and leftover waffles (warmed up in the toaster) for brunch.  Took a walk around the garden and took a couple of pictures of the flowers in bloom.

Trying to make myself a to do list for today.  Wrote out a grocery list for daughter to buy for me: bread, bananas, ham cold cuts, another box of pancake mix, half and half for her coffee, etc.  She will also go to the bank and the pharmacy for me.

Need to put away the washed dishes from yesterday:

Washed Dishes

Tidy another shelf or two in the kitchen cabinet.

Later in the evening, I need to take the trash cans out to the curb.

Don't have to cook today since my neighbor across the street sent us more food - rice, barbecue, salad, potatoes, pastries, etc.  The fridge is full!

Today, I am grateful for:

- More food sent by neighbor!
- A leisurely morning.
- My daughter being home with me and able to run errands for me.
- The cloud cover keeping the temperatures comfortable.
- Email from one of my longtime friends.

Hope your Monday is off to a good start, too.

  1. Love the pictures of flowers! My sink is the same as yours but my dishes are dirty, not clean, lol. I did A LOT of other chores today (well, maybe not but it sure feels like I did a lot!) so I'll worry about the dishes later.

Free food! Yay! I wish I didn't have to cook so I'm envious! I'm marinating chicken thighs and drumsticks and will grill them but I have no idea how long that will take. I'm not that good with things that aren't burgers when it comes to grilling.

    Have a great evening!

    1. Thanks, Nathalie. I've a double sink, so the dirty dishes are in the other side, waiting to be washed at the end of the day! :D

I'm not very good at grilling, either, but I'd think that 15-20 mins. for the drumsticks and maybe 25-30 mins. for the thighs? Grilled chicken sounds lovely!

  2. Love the California Poppy. Do these have a scent? My mother always said that her mother used California Poppy perfume but this would have been prior to 1924 when she died. My mother used "Evening in Paris" when I was little, it was all the rage back in the 1940's and came in a blue bottle.

    1. Bushlady, as far as I can tell, they have no scent. Or it just might be very subtle. Maybe, in a field full of hundreds and thousands of them, there might be a collective scent?

    1. Thanks, Judy. I have some lovely neighbors and so grateful to have daughter home with me and helping out.

I have 4 more chemo treatments to go, followed by 6 weeks of radiation treatments. Hopefully, I shall be done by the end of summer. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. I appreciate it.
