Slow Thursday

Today has been a slow, rather non-productive day.  I went to the post office in the morning and mailed the letter I had written to my mother's friend.  This lady and my mother became friends when they were both in teacher training college, back in the early 1940s.  My mother boarded at her friend's home for her last year of training and they stayed friends after each completed her training as teachers.  My mother's friend got married and moved overseas with her husband, but she and my mother stayed in touch and visited each other occasionally.  I last saw my mother's friend, who is sort of an honorary aunt to me, in 1987.  But I phoned her when my mother passed away and we've kept in touch.  She recently celebrated her 95th birthday.  My mother would have been 95 this year, had she lived.

I had a productive day at the office, but haven't done much since I came home.  I've video chatted with daughter, spoke on the phone with my friend, and wrote to another friend.  But I haven't done the dusting and vacuuming I had wanted to do - it was too hot to do anything earlier in the evening and now, it's too late (11:00 p.m.) and I am too tired.  I think I will simply wait until Saturday morning to do the house cleaning.  I don't have much on my to do list for tomorrow - I'll water the front garden and relax!

Today, I am grateful for:

- Keeping in touch with old friends
- New friends, too!  :)
- Safe commutes to and from work
- Phone calls, emails and letters that say, "I care about you"
- Being able to take the evening off, if I want to

How was your day?  Did you have a productive day, today?  Or, did you have a slow day like I did?
