"No, you shall not sew!" |
I had to wait until he decided to go elsewhere for his afternoon nap! But, eventually, I was able to sew the last seam and finish the quilt top.
Close Up: Corners Meet! |
The next step is to "sandwich" the quilt with batting and backing and then, bind the edges. But not today. That will have to wait until the next free weekend.
I am happy with the way this quilt top turned out. I might make this pattern again, another time.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Another cooler day
- A day off from work
- Time to sew
- A project to keep me occupied in a productive way
- Video chatting with my daughter
How is your Monday coming along? Are you taking time to do something you find fun and relaxing?

That turned out really pretty ... I really like the color combination too. You sure work quickly! I know nothing about quilt making ... How do you quilt it ... I've seen quilts I think are called "tied" where they sew a string or yarn thru all layers and knot on top and bottom to hold the layers together. Can you tell I have no idea what I'm talking about? Haha! It's beautiful, Bless!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, I think you know quite a bit. I am not very good with quilting - I prefer the patchwork part of it more than the quilting. Most of my quilts are very minimally quilted, for that reason. I prefer to tie my quilts and this quilt will be tied. To tie a quilt, you sew a yarn or several strands of thread through all the layers and tie a knot, but only on the top (not the bottom) of the quilt to hold the layers in place. It's easier and faster. As for quickness - this quilt was machine stitched and that's always faster. I am still hand sewing the hexagon quilt that I started several years ago!
