| June 27 Groceries (Not pictured: Half & Half and Sparkling Water) |
I ordered groceries on Friday night and they were delivered on Saturday. In addition to what is pictured above, I also bought a half gallon of half & half and a dozen bottles of sparkling water (daughter put them away for me as soon as the groceries were delivered, while I was still getting the rest of the groceries out of the bags).
The tortillas were on a buy 1 get 1 free sale and I used digital coupons for the breakfast sausages and the bagels. The sparkling water was on sale, too.
Here's the receipt:
Order Summary
Item Details
12 Items
Other Fees
$0.50
My total came to $38.82.
June Grocery Budget (for food items only) = $250 - $26.13 (spent in May) = $223.87
Spent to date = $59.60 + $57.80 + $56.14 + $38.82 = $212.36
Balance left in June Grocery Budget = $223.87 - $212.36 = $11.51
I had been concerned, at the end of my previous grocery delivery (on June 16), that I had only $50 and some cents left in the budget for the rest of the month's groceries, but, I managed to keep my spending under that amount!
Of course, there are three more days left in the month and there are some really good deals at a couple of other grocery stores which will end on Tuesday (10 lb. bag of potatoes for $1.99; pork chops for $1.99/lb., whole tilapia for $1.99/lb.) I am tempted! I could get a bag of potatoes and up to 4 pounds of pork chops and still have some change leftover! What do you think? Should I go for it?

I definitely think you might as well take advantage of the current offers. You'll use the stuff, you'll still be within budget, and even if you weren't, it's so close to July that it makes no difference. Why are you even hesitating... it's a no-brainer!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lady Ella. I do like to take advantage of a bargain and, as you pointed out, it's so close to July, it doesn't matter if I go over the June budget. The majority of what I would buy would be eaten in July, anyway. :)
DeleteOh yes, definitely go for those extra bargains!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. I know I'll be happy I picked up the bargains, later on. :)
DeleteI like your grocery list! I buy the flavoured sparkling water...there is no sugar, sodium or anything except the flavour. Ones I enjoy are watermelon, lemon, lime, pineapple and coconut and grape. However, the ones that I listed above...the watermelon, pineapple and coconut and grape, are only summer flavours. The lemon and the lime are year round!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. The flavored sparkling water is mostly for my daughter, although I like them, too. I like how you have summer favorites. :)
DeleteI haven't used coupons in such a long time, wouldn't know where to begin. I order my groceries on line and then do the store pick up. Started that during Covid and decided I really like shopping that way, but how do you use coupons when you're ordering on line? You do very well with your planning.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandy, the coupons I use are digital coupons that the store makes available on their website and they get downloaded to my account (there is a "clip" button to click on to download). It gets automatically applied to the item ordered. Check your store website to see if they offer any digital coupons.
DeleteI did the ordering online and curbside pick up, too, until quite recently and the person bringing the groceries to the car would ask if I had any paper coupons, which would then be discounted at the time of pick up. Paper coupons can't be redeemed when having groceries delivered, though.
We are really boring shoppers, we order our food Wednesdays and its delivered Thursdays. We get the same basic foods each week, adding something we might fancy some weeks, and the cost is more or less the same.. except for the rise in prices..
ReplyDeleteI don't think you are being boring shoppers, Chris; more like, you know what you like and what you want. I shop for a few basics (I'll buy milk or half & half and bread most weeks, for example, eggs every other week or so), and whatever other items I want that is on sale/offer. :)
